Purely because I am really strange and find things like what time of day people voted interesting.

I haven’t voted yet, but I do have a question if anyone knows the answer, please?
My polling card is in my married name but my IDs are in my maiden name, can I still vote?

Could you take your marriage certificate?

JewelleryCat · 04/07/2024 11:45

Yes, isn’t it illegal to take a photo in the booth of who you voted for or is this a replica for the exit poll?

WithACatLikeTread · 04/07/2024 12:15

You might want to take that down if that is your card. Plus I wouldn't advertise the fact you have voted for reform. 😜

Civic Duty recently completed

kalokagathos · 04/07/2024 12:20

Postal vote here too

BrigadierEtienneGerard · 04/07/2024 12:21

As an aside, why are so many people doing postal votes?

You never know what life brings. Personally my mum died so I missed out in the May elections.

Secondly, many people going on holiday.

Thirdly overseas are allowed to vote.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 04/07/2024 12:30

Voted shortly after 11am. Just a short queue ahead of us. Very efficient pleasant staff.

ETA to add important details as I like reading these from others! Weather here in London is good, no rain, nice sunshine (although a bit breezy and not that warm). Hope this will help with turnout. We vote in a church hall. Rather envious of the scout hut and portakabin voters!

keffie12 · 04/07/2024 12:30

I do postal vote. However, as I was away when it came, I filled it in when I got back Tuesday this week as I normally would, then look it to the polling station for 11-am. this morning.

I had to fill in a form and have it confirmed by the adjudication officer as to why I was bringing it in.

All done. Now, nervous anticipation until the exit poll tonight and the fresh start this country needs to start to heal

DrRiverSong · 04/07/2024 12:31

I voted straight after school run.

Voted.

The lady nearly made a mistake and crossed through my daughter's name😂. DD is passionate about voting and wouldn't have taken it lightly if I rean't realised what she was about to do and DD was denied her vote.

Similar here. The lady hesitated and said “it looks like you’ve already voted today”. I said no, that’s my daughter, I’m underneath. Luckily she hadn’t actually crossed off the wrong name but was just looking at the wrong name!

(I went around 12 OP)

Went to the polling station at 10.30 ish, had to queue for 30 mins! It was very busy. We are (were) a staunch Tory constituency which labour are hoping to overturn so it will be interesting…….

That's interesting that there was a queue in such a constituency - did you pick up any vibes while you were queuing as to how it was going?

I did a postal vote, so voted a while go.

And me 👍

Fifthtimelucky · 04/07/2024 12:46

Postal vote for me too.

ClassicStripe · 04/07/2024 07:05

I meant it for people to update throughout the day 😀

So at the time of posting the 'I've voted' thread you hadn't voted? 😂

PerkingFaintly · 04/07/2024 12:49

I do a postal vote because I have mobility problems and am largely housebound.

The first pages of this thread were heavy with postal voters because the thread opened before the polls did! The balance will shift as the day wears on.

Sounds like Labour might take that.

mangobe · 04/07/2024 12:52

My husband and I went to vote at lunchtime, we were the only people at the polling station at that time

equisetum · 04/07/2024 12:53

Voted at 7.15am

igivein · 04/07/2024 12:59

I've voted.
I'm fairly rural and normally I'm the only person there and the staff enjoy a bit of a chat to relieve the boredom. Today there was a steady stream of people, so hopefully there'll be a good turnout (as there should be every time!)

Definitely an older demographic at the time I was there so who knows🤷‍♀️ - I think it will be close, Reform could split the vote.

Theweepywillow · 04/07/2024 13:13

Small village hall for me, steady stream of folks in and out, staunch Tory constituency.
