I heard the news about the Sun and thought "Meh". 1) Its a bit bloody late and 2) its just not that important any more.

Starmer was asked by pensive newspaper hacks if he could guarantee he wouldn't implement the 2nd part of the Leveson Inquiry into media control and political influence.

He didn't say he would rule it out, so I'm guessing that News Corp are sh*tting themselves.

The Sun has gone for Labour

So not a clear message from the Sun. But they don't back Sunak.

Super excited here - not often I get the thrill of seeing my people bring it home 🤞. Annoyingly DC didn’t receive their postal votes in time so one’s on holiday/can’t vote and one will vote in their uni town where it makes less difference - solid Labour seat vs our three-way between Labour/Tory/Indy 😡).

Ds just said "the sun will back the winner"

So not as big an event as I hoped

Jonathan pie on form re: labour.

Wish I hadn't watched his 14 years of tory though...it's made me 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Notonthestairs · 03/07/2024 16:13

Given the CPS under Starmer prosecuted Rebekah Brooks for phone hacking I am not at all surprised that the Sun have dragged their heels.

Bit rich of the Evening Standard to claim to back Labour when barely a week ago they were running blood and hellfire warnings about the looming Starmer catastrophe.

A perilously thin paper full of meaningless lifestyle articles. Goodbye 👋

Yes, he stands about where I do, leaving aside his comic hyperbole. I did vote for Blair though.
Edit: well, you know what I mean. I voted Labour in the Blair years.

The Sun backed the loser Johnson. Who, let's remind ourselves, his own party didn't want in the end. They ousted him for err Liz Truss 😀

Have I understood correctly that Rish! has said that he will take full responsibility for the Conservative results tomorrow, and therefore resign on Friday?

Who owns the Standard these days?🤔

NoDishiForRishi · 03/07/2024 16:44

Not a surprise that The S*n has gone labour is it? They know which way the wind is blowing and wouldn't want to be seen to back the losing side.

Yesterday he said he'd stay on as leader even if he lost.

He might lose his seat though so 🤓💺
