Anyone else think there might be something strange about the 19yr old disappearance in Tenerife?

I get that kids do foolish things, like travelling at night with 2 strangers.

But if he was seen at the new accommodation around 8am, and again walking briskly along the road some time “later”, how could he have needed to make a call at 8.30am saying he was lost, had no phone charge and needed water? He would have only just left the accommodation so definitely wouldn’t need water. And why not send your gps or what three words location then?

Echoes of Karen Matthews

She reminded me of her too

Must be very popular with Lucy considering she's been there 17 times!!
😂😂

Erm....yea I guess so...... Confused

Totallymessed · 22/06/2024 17:18

Maybe I'm a cynic, but I'm starting to feel strong Shannon Matthews vibes as more comes out. Which I guess would be better than any of the alternatives.

WetherspoonsSnob · 22/06/2024 17:22

Jay's Instagram has reportedly been accessed...

From official Facebook page.
“Jay’s mums asked I post this. For everyone asking who has logged into his Instagram account, it’s not him or her, somebody else has logged into it.”

I agree with this.

I mean come on watch this video. It smacks of her knowing he was into something he shouldn’t have been and has got into trouble with some people you don’t mess with!

I think it has a really fake feel to it, she’s not really crying or emotional, seems to be acting like she thinks she should, and so odd to focus on the idea someone has him.

Could be either. I personally believe what I've read, that they owe their "boss" 30k, due to them screwing up a drug deal. Whether he's being held or has been killed as a result remains to be seen.

I hope I'm completely wrong, and that they've not knowingly wasted hundreds of hours of police help, and put yet more mistrust into genuine GFM appeals etc

It'd fall apart quickly if it was a Shannon Matthews-esque con, there'd be too many people involved- be arguments about shares of the pie and threats to grass etc...

The original Sharon Matthews con was much simpler because they only needed to split it 50/50 amongst them both (Karen Matthews and Michael Donovan)

plus not much honour amongst thieves.

I'm very sure you're wrong. That rumour has clearly been started by a troll who wishes they were involved in a drug ring instead of getting shouted at from Dad for getting the sack from yet another McJob

I also agree that the GFM is to raise money quickly to pay someone off.

I don't think I am.

It ain't much of a stretch to believe Jay's got in trouble with the wrong crowd, considering the group he was in when macheteing/axing/golf-clubbing that poor lad's skull were convicted of violent disorder, witness intimidation, attempted robbery and conspiracy to supply class A drugs and the fact that Jay's mum received a snapchat saying "kiss goodbye to your boy" upon arrival in Tenerife.

Shady past yes, but also shady present. And Lucy and his mum behaving strangely doesn't help

WetherspoonsSnob · 22/06/2024 21:22

The computer for some reason doesn't register it as downloaded to my file explorer hence why I've posted the link, it's an article from a Spanish news website...

Yes. Lucy Mae saying they need the British police over here made me laugh - like they would know how to find someone in that area better than the local police!

A decent rebuttal of Lucy's remarks from the Spanish press...

"In any case , it is necessary to point out two things. Firstly, the Civil Guard, Civil Protection of Buenavista del Norte and the volunteer firefighters of Santiago del Teide have deployed a significant operation on the ground, with canine guides, drones, helicopters and raids. Secondly, it should also be noted that the Armed Institute is not only acting on the ground, but is carrying out an investigation of the events that involves records and interviews with the last people who saw Jay Slater and that, since The investigation is still ongoing, they have not been revealed because they are secret."

The friend raises funds:

In all this whirlwind of information and theories, Lucy Mae has created a donation campaign on the GoFundMe portal, with which she seeks to raise 30,000 pounds (she has already accumulated more than 24,000) so that "Jay Slater comes home." The campaign has received hundreds and hundreds of contributions, although it has also generated suspicion among those who consider the collection suspicious, especially after Jay's family received anonymous calls claiming that he was kidnapped because he "owed a lot of money."

I don't know. In a way, if she was acting I can imagine her making more of an effort to appear distressed, sobbing etc.
The fact she's just rambling on seems more honest. She's probably in shock. She's suddenly been thrust in to the world's spotlight has no idea where her son is. She's probably all over the place. I expect none of it seems real.

Is there anybody else who can't see them ever reaching the 30k target?

They're only getting money in drips & drabs now, it's not constant like it was a few days ago- a fiver here, twenty quid there.

I think there'll be a big development by the Spanish Police not before long, by Monday at least.

It could well be a mother's wishful thinking. If my son disappeared I'd probably want to imagine he was alive and someone had him, rather than his dead body was lying alone in the mountains. Also if she knows he's into drugs she might suspect he's got mixed up with dangerous people.

That supposed snap chat is only an internet rumour isn’t it? It’s not been reported anywhere? Because my first thought is as if anyone of his mum’s generation uses Snap chat??

Only an internet rumour, not been reported anywhere?
It's been reported in the Daily Mail and many other newspapers...

I could link the other newspapers but I think that headline is self-explanatory and proof enough that it's not just a rumour.

Same here though, my first thought was who on Earth of his mothers generation would use Snapchat?

Surely, the right thing to do would be to hand over login details to either the British or Spanish Police instead of potentially comprising evidence...
