Anyone else think there might be something strange about the 19yr old disappearance in Tenerife?

I get that kids do foolish things, like travelling at night with 2 strangers.

But if he was seen at the new accommodation around 8am, and again walking briskly along the road some time “later”, how could he have needed to make a call at 8.30am saying he was lost, had no phone charge and needed water? He would have only just left the accommodation so definitely wouldn’t need water. And why not send your gps or what three words location then?

What an ungrateful statement claiming she's not being supported after many people have donated money. Even more suspicious! @WetherspoonsSnob

@MermaidEyes I’m not sure tbh. It might depend on the crowdfunding site? But I think most fundraising/crowdfunding sites have disclaimers or T&C so most likely people won’t be refunded. But this is the first I’m hearing of a scam. Hopefully he will be found soon and he’ll be home safe and sound.

If he genuinely got lost in the wilderness he won’t be found alive by now - it’s the 9th day of searching. And if he went off somewhere and is hiding out, he’s a piece of scum.

Yeah I honesty think he's lost somewhere and not alive. Still curious what the money will actually go towards though. If he's found then I guess the cost of flying his body home etc but if not then I've no idea how else it would be spent.

I'd probably be scream and shouting at the police if I was her.

Who knows how we would react? She may need someone to be angry at.

Even if they are doing a great job and have done everything they possibly can you would still be asking why they haven't found him.

I dont think the Tenerife police will care. It was a crime infested dump of an island 30 years ago when I last went and I think with the drug culture its only got worse. Thieves everywhere and look at that story of that woman in her 60s who was carved up and thrown out to sea recently. It's got a nasty underworld.

If that new CCTV image, taken 10 hours later than last witness report, is him it’s another MM and they’ve been searching wrong area for past week.

Wasnt that potential sighting posted several days ago? Honestly the incompetence is off the scale. Poor MM was sited in plain sight and they couldnt see him!

The interview I saw with the mum. Something just felt "off" about it. She was looking off to the side a lot, not really facing the camera. Her words didn't feel really genuine. The crying felt forced. It just all felt "wrong" to me.

I could say I hope I'm wrong. But if I am then he probably did die of heat exhaustion or whatever. If I'm right, he will resurface alive and well!

I know that all makes me sound like a horrible person. Maybe I am. But this thread asks if people think there's something strange about it and I do

The “comedy” Facebook page is at least highlighting how many missing young (and old) people there are. I knew a lot go missing but when you read the descriptions it does make you wonder what happened 😕

More story holes than a fast n furious film. Who were the guys he went off with? Why would you leave your friends? What happened in their house? Why didnt they give him a lift back?

Not sure. People say they saw it last week! It might be him, might not. Either way he's been missing a week so it's not looking good.
They were talking about the case on the 5pm news on radio 4. The reporter said that there was no visible search going on today. She said they were either looking at different areas or they'd received new evidence.
She said it was very difficult for reporters because the Spanish police were refusing to give any information at all! Reporters had nothing to report because they really have no idea what's going on!
It's all so strange.

I can imagine loads of scenarios where a young bloke on holiday/at a festival feeling invincible would go off with new mates if they wanted to carry on partying, they were all on drugs/drunk even though they’d just met felt like his best mates ever in the world?

And getting a lift back - it was early, they’d all been at a festival and not even got back to the house until late, they were probably still asleep?

I don’t think any of these things are particularly unusual or hard to imagine happening.

@Changingplace on the face of it not that strange but why go off without mates, so far from civilisation with one guy whos at least double his age. Doesn't exactly sound like a mad after party. And to set off on an 11 mile hike fown mount teide he must have been not feeling right, although the call he made to his friend, she didnt mention him being out of it or anything. All so strange.

People sadly don’t make sensible decisions when they’re high on drugs/drunk and haven’t slept in 24hrs.

Even if he didn’t sound totally out of it to his friend he’d been up all night and it was the third day of the festival, there’s no way he was completely straight.

At least one of the men was c40 yrs old. Although people drive under the influence he was still capable of navigating those mountain roads. What man of that age takes a teen back they apparently have never met, Jay looking at the videos was falling all over the place. He could hardly stand. To me that’s odd surely you’d have the maturity to realise he’s in a bad way.

I thought it was someone else in those videos? It looks like jay(though they aren't that clear to be sure)

I find the whole going off with the two older men strange..drugs? Sex? I also read he had planned to Rob them? Who knows.
If he did leave about six then he was there just over an hour.
Despite his past and whatever he was or wasn't caught up in, despite all the wild theories on facebook(some of which may be true-lucy etc)
I do think he has left the bnb in a drugged state and stumbled off the path and sadly died.
He would have been spotted and found if he had kept to the road and there's no real reason he should have left the road!

I would imagine sadly if he's not found within the next few days the Spanish police are going to give up. They can't keep searching for him indefinitely.

A lot of oddities. Especially re the urgency of reporting him missing, inconsistency in her story. I’m too old for Snapchat but apparently the two pics he posted had a geotag filter added? Seems a lot of detail for someone off their heads to bother with.

May still be the obvious simple misadventure but definitely some question marks.
