Anyone else think there might be something strange about the 19yr old disappearance in Tenerife?

I get that kids do foolish things, like travelling at night with 2 strangers.

But if he was seen at the new accommodation around 8am, and again walking briskly along the road some time “later”, how could he have needed to make a call at 8.30am saying he was lost, had no phone charge and needed water? He would have only just left the accommodation so definitely wouldn’t need water. And why not send your gps or what three words location then?

I think there are some that are quite clearly joke posts with a tongue in cheek angle which people are falling for but there are others who are quite serious, for example the ones about watching that stupid webcam.

I'm not on FB, snapchat or tiktok thus I haven't seen anything about webcams nor have any idea what is viral amongst teens. I can't imagine there are many teens reading/being influenced by MN?? 😂

I'm very much stating the obvious, but perhaps the answer (for those on this thread feeling compelled to judge and chastise) is to just avoid the aforementioned apps?

You’re right. It’s becoming a bit of a game I think amongst the younger generation - who can find the maddest comment. It is a bit of a thing on social media for the younger ones as some of the posts are wild. Quite scary that these people will be voting in two weeks. 😂

WetherspoonsSnob · 23/06/2024 10:50

Come on, almost £29,000 now- just £50 away, Hopefully it reaches £30k soon as the suspense is killing me

COME ONNN!!!

I don’t know too much about how go fund me works. What happens when it reaches goal anyway? Doesn’t it just carry on regardless I’ve seen lots of other go fund mes where they’ve smashed the target by loads, these have been charity ones so the extra money just goes to the charity. Why did they need to up the target from its original amount to £30k even if donations had exceeded target?

Tbf, I've seen people of many ages doing posts like that across the generations not just predominantly young, middle-aged or old people.

In response to that last sentence, forget about voting- would you trust them in the jury and you in the dock? That's the concerning thing lol 😂

No. Having heard horror stories about jury service I think the whole thing is mad. Probably why rape and violent crime convictions are so low. People feel sorry for the poor, misguided menz. Their brains are still developing or something. 🙄

Anybody remember the 'Peru two' episode in 2014 when a girl initially went missing and it later turned out that her and her mate were drug mules, if she had a £30k target GoFundMe, and if she was in a group convicted for conspiracy to supply class A after a machete & axe attack amongst other things then I'm pretty sure the same kind of discourse would be going on.

Some people are going to have to find new sources of income after this episode has been so high profile 😜

WetherspoonsSnob · 23/06/2024 12:48

Honestly pisses me well off that his GFM's got almost 30 grand but Myles here has got barely half of that amount...

30 grand ffs- Lobster, Caviar and 5* resorts is it?
Even if they despise Easy Jet, Ryanair etc.. BA does flights for £63 and I doubt friends and family would be fussy eaters if their loved one was missing.

It'd cost just under £6,000 in flights to bring 100 friends & family over there for example.

+Hasn't loads of stuff been offered for free too??

I was never good at maths but it just doesn't add up.

Why's everyone being so snobbish about them? This superior attitude when they're going through hell.

Have to agree with this. Immediate ban for anyone even pointing out the bloody obvious where Michael Mosely was concerned. Fascinating. Not that I was banned or anything 😆

His friend could've prevented much of the speculation by simply asking for a modest amount; a couple of grand for his family's flights. I doubt there'd have been a fraction of the speculation if she'd just did that...
None of us posting on here know anything, it's ALL speculation - so how (why) people come to any given conclusion doesn't matter, you're not entitled to a forensic examination of their thought process 🙄😂

MM fan girl demographic is slightly clueless, unwordly, middle aged, gullible women (in the main). They were busy shutting down any discussion about their idol, I'd assume the admin on here fit that demographic because there is no logic to the different responses to the two missing people.

If Dr Mosley's mate had randomly asked for 30 grand to help find him, I imagine there'd have been some speculation!

How many millions did he make from what is effectively calorie deficit?

Chenecinquantecinq · 23/06/2024 13:29

The Go Fund Me isn't deceptive it's asking for money in the same way that a highly educated person selling a very simple concept by dressing it up trying to hook in a gullible public would do if they were selling a book for example. It is exactly the same principle, some on here can't seem to see that.

I've no idea. In the same way I have no idea how Jay Slater's family are fixed financially. I do know that a return flight to Tenerife for his parents and brother wouldn't cost 30 grand.

Michael Mosley's family reported him missing and then left the authorities to do their job. I think that is the crucial difference.

100% if they stopped at the ten grand target or even let it carry on until 15 grand then I bet they'd be under a hell of a lot less scrutiny and scepticism.

It set off rocket boosters under what was previously tinges of doubt.

Here's a comment from the GFM...

Unless I am mistaken the Go Fund Me page doesn't make any reference to what the money will be used for? So therefore if people choose to part with their own money without so much as questioning what it will be spent on then that is their choice. Very similar (arguably better than) a highly educated person making money off a gullible audience using their education to bamboozle!

Would you say the same about Captain Tom's daughter and her spa, by your logic people shouldn't have ever bat an eyelid about that at all in the first place because "we're all adults".

In fact, this entire situation reminds me of the Captain Tom thing.
