Chub rub - bloody hell!

I've got chub rub for the first time. Why????

I've never had it before - i'm a bit overweight and my thighs are bigger than I'd like, but this has always been the case and I've never had it before. Why now?!

Seriously though, what do I do? How do I get rid of it? I wore a floaty dress today and now my thighs are red and sore. I never fully appreciated how bad this was!

I’ve had a pack of the Amazon ones delivered today so I might give them a go over the weekend.

It’s also worth noting that that M&S ones are available on Ocado too.

I like the m&s anti chafing shorts, I think that's what I have but I also thought they were really rubbish control pants. Either way, they are thin and seamless so they don't show through dresses.

I have some bodyglide too, only tried it a couple of times on shorter runs and wasn't all that impressed but I have a 10K tomorrow and although my race shorts are longer than my general running shorts I intend on smothering myself in the stuff just incase. Hope it works, I'm after a PB and it's going to be warm!!

It's definitely not to do with being overweight either, I have had it for years, started when I wasn't overweight, carried on when I was a bit overweight and now I'm back to normal, running loads and lifting loads I still have it because I have bigger thighs (and hips but that clearly only helps if your thighs are small)

Liquid talc has always done the job for me. Only ever have to reapply if I've been in the pool / sea, otherwise it lasts all day.

Lanacane powder/cream

AngryLikeHades · 21/06/2024 18:43

Lansinoh lanolin in the purple tube is fantastic for soreness and chafing.

HarrytheHobbit · 21/06/2024 18:46

Stick type deodorant works like a charm

DilemmaDelilah · 21/06/2024 18:48

Chub rub is sooooooo painful!

I wear chub rub shorts every time I wear a skirt or a dress. Sometimes as well as talcum powder. If I do get it I slather on sudocrem and sit legs akimbo as much as I can! I do try to get cotton mix shorts rather than synthetic fabrics. I just get them from the supermarket rather than anything expensive!

StMarieforme · 21/06/2024 18:50

I wish it was just called chafing. Chubb rub suggests it's because the person could change it. As a PP said, unless you have a thigh gap it'll happen!

Nat6999 · 21/06/2024 18:57

Cuticura medicated talc works very well.

Filterphobia · 21/06/2024 19:33

I see you are planning on going with the shorts OP. I personally couldn’t face the shorts as I felt I would get too hot, I use iRELIEF by iVYVERDURE Anti-chafing Stick They sell it on Amazon. I apply it first thing in the morning and it does me all day. It’s even worked when I have been abroad in 30 degree plus heat. Just adding this incase it helps anyone else.

For the purposes of this thread I am wearing today the Amazon 4 pack linked to up thread. On the pack it says they are knickers so I’m wearing them with nothing underneath.

They are very comfortable so far. 95% cotton so machine washable. I’m a 16/18 and I’ve got a large size. They are slightly tight around the legs so I’d think about sizing up.

BiscuityBoyle · 22/06/2024 14:51

I can report back that the Amazon ones are super comfy. They fit well and are not at all hot, but it it’s hot here. The only thing I would say is that the waist band is like leggings so they don’t give a smooth silhouette.
