Chub rub - bloody hell!

Spaceracers · 20/06/2024 20:45

I've got chub rub for the first time. Why????

I've never had it before - i'm a bit overweight and my thighs are bigger than I'd like, but this has always been the case and I've never had it before. Why now?!

Seriously though, what do I do? How do I get rid of it? I wore a floaty dress today and now my thighs are red and sore. I never fully appreciated how bad this was!

I got some Primark chub rub shorts and they are amazing. Seamfree so smooth and a much softer and nicer material than Snag. They were with the shapewear. Have ditched Snag for Primark ones.

FrancineFrensky · 21/06/2024 08:48

The Snag shorts are rubbish IMO horrible material and frayed really quickly. The M&S ones feel nice and smooth and the sloggi ones are pretty good too.

Personally I find creams etc are good but need frequent reapplication which isn't always practical.

Bettyscakes · 21/06/2024 07:48

For those that use the Asda talc do you take out with you & reapply? Or does it last a while?

I find I have to reapply which is a bit of a faff tbh.

Stick deodorant on your thighs works a treat

Balloonhearts · 21/06/2024 09:02

Colloidal silver works miracles. Helps them heal and prevents more friction.

TheKingCobraIsNotStrictlySpeakingACobra · 21/06/2024 09:14

Cotton sloggi shorts - you won’t get too hot in them as it’s the same as wearing a pair of knickers but with long legs.

another added bonus with any type of shorts is that they hold in any belly jiggle (which I have in abundance!)

TheKingCobraIsNotStrictlySpeakingACobra · 21/06/2024 09:14

I have two pairs of the M&S shorts too and they’re also good

Teenie22 · 21/06/2024 09:20

I use roll on deodorant, works a treat, no shorts required.

Christine1998 · 21/06/2024 09:35

Asda little angels liquid talc. It’s good for stopping sweat wet patches in tight fitting clothes too

whatyear · 21/06/2024 09:35

I get way too hot in shorts so I just put a bit of roll on deodorant in between my thighs and that works for me! My bf was very confused when he saw me do it the other day but I swear by it😂

I used to buy snag chub rub but I didn't like being told that men can wear their tights, plaster themselves all over the website and call themselves women and if I didn't like having it shoved in my face,to fuck off elsewhere

I did-better tights do chub rub shorts and they are just as good

I'm a hot,sweaty and sticky person-these don't make it worse

I live in them

Can you link plz...🙏

WolfFoxHare · 21/06/2024 10:43

AnneElliott · 20/06/2024 22:26

I do the same. When any of my tights get a home in the feet or a snag, I cut them down to shorts and wear those under skirts or dresses.

That’s exactly what I do when I ladder a pair! Makes them last longer and means I’m far less cross when I accidentally put a finger through a pair.

Poggishairtufts · 21/06/2024 10:44

Body glide as someone else has said. I could not be doing with having another layer of clothing in an already warm area on a hot day

DayIntarnishedarmour · 21/06/2024 11:10

I’m going to try Primark. I don’t wear skirts or dresses because of the chub rub , but I’d like to.

I’ve lost 2.5 stones and am 8 st but thighs still rub together. No better than it was before losing weight . Im def not overweight now so it’s clearly shape and build not weight that makes you prone to this I think.

RobinEllacotStrike · 21/06/2024 11:12

you don't need to wear long knickers or shorts - though those can work personally I want a breeeze under my dress/skirt, not another layer of clothing & certainly not nylon/polyester on a hot day.

Get yourself a good chamois cream - one large tube of this will last me all summer and I wear dresses nearly every day. I've done 2 weeks in Italy wearing dresses, walking everywhere and no chaffing. Without this cream or chub rub shorts I would chaff dreadfully. Discovering chamois cream changed my life & wardrobe.

this is the one I am currently using and it is excllent - doesnt stain clothing or anything - just protects you from chaffing.

Interesting how its called "chub rub" when women experience chaffing, but simply chaffing when the serious men in lycra get it. Also the proudcts aimed towards women - Lanacane etc - available in Boots etc do work but are very expensive. The products aimed at cyclists are better quality, bigger tubes and I think work much better.

In the meantime sudocream is very good for healing chaffing

Misthios · 21/06/2024 11:29

Shorts are the only way, they do them in all the major supermarkets and shops like Primark, M&S and they are brilliant.

aibutohavethisusername · 21/06/2024 11:45

I wear the Popsy underpops.

Letsnotargue · 21/06/2024 11:56

Bjorkdidit · 20/06/2024 21:01

I've got some cheap cycling shorts from Primark that do the job.

This is what I have. I’ve tried loads and find the lace rubs, the legs roll up etc. £3 cycling shorts from Primark are perfect and I don’t get too hot. They’ve seen me through trips to SE Asia with no trouble at all.

AuntieWithAttitude · 21/06/2024 12:20

Spaceracers · 20/06/2024 20:52

Don't you get hot with them? I am sort of not surprised I have it (given my thighs!) but I don't understand why it hasn't been an issue before? Have I just been lucky?

Was hoping I could let my thighs recover and then... moisturise them back to normal?

I've never gotten that hot, maybe slightly warmer than without, but worth it to not have chaffing!

sweetpickle2 · 21/06/2024 12:59

This stuff is the best- I used to do shorts but this is much better and saves me wearing another layer of clothing on a hot day (which just made me much sweatier of crotch!)

They do a mini version which I always have in my handbag.

Mintyt · 21/06/2024 13:14

Snag are hot. Big bloomers do thin cotton ones which are amazing and the customer service is amazing too

Lurleene · 21/06/2024 13:51

I just bought a two pack of anti-rub shorts from Sainsburys. 1 black , 1 white. There is 25 % off at the moment so two pairs for 7.50 seemed worth a go.

Sammyx91 · 21/06/2024 14:21

I get it every year.. sudocream at night half the jar let it soak in whilst you sleep and invest in some biker shorts so you can wear underneath your usual attire saved me last summer

Binglebong · 21/06/2024 14:42

I've got some of the liquid talk from asda to try - I reckon there are a few MN readers about as not many left! How much are the primark version of the knickers?

BrownTableMat · 21/06/2024 15:16

Another vote for the M and S shorts, really comfortable and not hot. Have a gusset so can be worn without knickers underneath. I also like the sloggi cotton ones but the legs are long and trimmed with lace and so can show under even knee length dresses.
