I haven't seen any posts on this although I may have missed it.

A 19 year old boy has gone missing while on holiday with friends in Tenerife. No phone battery and has not been heard from since 8am yesterday.

I cannot stop thinking about him and his family. I have a son the same age who was due to go abroad with his friends for the first time last week but plans were cancelled last minute and now I feel like I never want him to go anywhere!

I'm not sure the point in me posting this as no one will know what has happened, I guess I just can't help thinking what if he was my son?

I am praying he is okay. My heart absolutely breaks for his Mum who has traveled there this morning.

In what way was it a mistake?

Well I hope it was a mistake and something he regrets now. I don't know him, I can't judge his past actions based on a quick read on the internet last night.

"Entitled up your arse cows"

You sound lovely. I simply pointed out that the lads family had specifically asked that people don't keep writing the things you were writing. What's so difficult to comprehend there?

It's the way you wrote it! Read it again, you sounded up your own arse! Sorry, but you did.

I would recommend what 3 words to anyone with a teenager going off somewhere in a situation like this.

I just told my teenager to download it before her holiday.

Share the link to anyone who might benefit from it please. 🙏🏻

Thank you - my DD is travelling around Europe, just sent her this.

If he had received a custodial sentence instead of
Jay Slater, 18...Accrington - 18 month community order with 25 days rehabilitation activities and 150 hours unpaid work. instead of holidaying in Tenerife, his whereabouts would be known.
Horrible situation all round, but I hate that the accused were disrespectful towards poor Tom Hilton's family.

Yep!

If he were in prison where he belongs, none of this would've happened.

True…not that I’ve ever mistakenly attacked someone with an axe, a golf club and a machete. Not sure how easily done that could be…

I don't know what part he took in that attack, what it was about etc etc so I really can't judge.

"People are even saying it could be linked (sorry @TakeOnFlea that's probably a conspiracy)"

Where did I mention conspiracies? Stop making stuff up.

You wouldn't know how it has affected me because I'm not the one making it all about myself.

I'm not sure how to respond to that as it is so ridiculous. I'm pleased you've had the time to continually post when there must be so many threads, SM posts and newspaper reports you'll be commenting under. telling everyone not to talk about it.

I care about my son therefore empathise with this boys mother. It's really not a difficult concept to grasp. You are making this thread about you and your strong feelings on other people's compassion.

Lets hope they delete this one too.

Why? Can people not discuss topics that are in the news anymore?

You would think that even if a custodial defence wasn’t imposed they’d have restrictions on violent people going off abroad so quick. Maybe withholding their passports for a length of time might be something.

There's discussing and then there's using this as entertainment.

You must be going absolutely spare with all of the conspiracies that are out there now!!!

I'm just wondering whether the posters who jumped on the opportunity to imply we were all racists who wouldn't have sympathy if the boy wasn't white and were 'bookmarking the threads' to prove their point have quietly unbookmarked and slunk away in light of the disgusting display of gleeful mocking and classism aimed at the family and friends?

SleepQuest33 · 22/06/2024 02:21

Wow, I’ve just read the article about his involvement in that attack.
8 of then chasing, surrounding and attacking a person with a machete!!!

I tell you what, if I were his mother I would have confiscated his passport and made him think seriously if he deserves having fun in Spain after such appalling behavior.

no sympathy from me.

i think it was the behaviour of some posters that caused it to get pulled

We know the male brain in particular isn't fully formed until then and so many bad decisions (and the lifelong consequences for the perpetrators and victims) are made between 17-mid 20s often under the influence. I do believe we should take this into account e.g. graduated driving licences and restricted passports for young people under 25, especially for people convicted of violent crime.

They acted like a pack of feral dogs. It's a miracle that boy survived the attack. Let's not defend it, at that age you know right from wrong. I'm not saying he deserves this fate but don't defend it.

Just looked at that but it seems you have to out the address in to find out the 3 words so if you don’t know where you are how will it help? My daughter leaves her location on all the time thankfully.

There’s a beautiful lake high up in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California called Huntington Lake. The days are in the 80sF and the nights dip down into the low 40s, upper 30s, chilly enough for a hoodie or jacket.
I spent a lot of time there as a child. The lake is freezing cold.
Yesterday morning, a four-year-old little boy went missing. He wandered away from his parents campsite.
They found him this morning, fine. He was in his shorts and a little t-shirt, and his parents couldn’t explain how they’d lost track of him.
The search involved 60-70 people, including Forest Service rangers and professionals.
This family was so very lucky - this is the season when it starts: little kids wander away, teens leave without their phones fully charged in areas they aren’t familiar with, granddad/granny decide they’ll take a quick walk…

No, the app locates you and gives you the words for where you are.
