Anyone else hating the weather?

What is there to enjoy about this.

Its going to start to get darker again soon.

I’ve had enough of wearing waterproofs outside. I would like to sit in my garden. Maybe it would dry out long enough to do some gardening.

Id like to not be cold outdoors after 5pm - or to be honest, just in the middle of the day.

Id like to spend the day in the park or at the beach. I’d like to sit in the sun enjoying a rosé.

This truly must be the worst June on record.

I hate it.

it's utterly miserable.

No doubt the cosy hot chocolate snugglers will be along shortly though.

Miley1967 · 15/06/2024 12:42

It is very cold. Just been on a short break away and had to sleep in my socks and put on double duvets. Fortunately we had taken our own extra duvet ! Having said that, the weather was perfect for coastal walks in the daytime. I don't like excessive heat but would welcome a little bit more warmth.

🤣🤣 now that made me laugh. The thing is, I’m not even asking for 25+ degrees but can we not even get a little sunshine? I’m looking outside and I feel like it’s February. It’s fucking depressing tbh

This lack of sun and warmth is actually getting me down now.

I love all the seasons but this endless dreariness is depressing.

MidnightPatrol · 15/06/2024 12:45

Yes we going out in our puddle suits etc etc

But oh my god when will it end. It is unbearable.

I feel desperately sorry for the local pubs etc, who aren’t getting any business either as everyone sitting at home being pissed off rather than out and about.

I even thought about putting the central heating on the other day! I didn't, obviously, because it's JUNE and I refuse to.

I'm worried I won't get enough "summer" to see me through the shit months.

Sorenips11 · 15/06/2024 12:55

We're going camping in July so I'm hoping this summer is just a slow starter. I'll forgive it if we get a warm September. If we go straight into Autumn with no summer I'll be devastated!

MidnightPatrol · 15/06/2024 12:55

That is what I worry about @SoupDragon

I need some nice months to get me through the winter.

Currently it’s just going to be a perpetual winter - I’m going to have to visit the Canary Islands in November and January or something to just keep me sane. I can’t do proper winter sun as I have v small children. Aaahhhg.

Absolutely torrential rain here atm. It's fucking shit.

Funkyfizz · 15/06/2024 13:00

Oh and now it's thundering.

Lonelycrab · 15/06/2024 13:01

Heard someone the other day call this month Juneuary, kinda sums it up.

Off for camping in North Wales in a week, we go every year at this time and most years get scorching hot weather, last year was 28 degrees…

BigDahliaFan · 15/06/2024 13:03

Electric blanket on and fire …. Central heating came on yesterday morning. Had to have the heater on at work despite thick socks, boots and jumpers. And I got soaked this morning taking the dog for a walk. House is draped in damp dog towels and has been since last July. It’s shit.

That’s worrying me too. This torrential rain’s battered some of my beautiful flowers and the robin family that’s been coming right up to my door will be soaked and cold (I do realise I’m being ridiculous about that!).

MrsWidgerysLodger · 15/06/2024 13:21

I'm sick of it. I shouldn't still be wearing my winter woolies in JUNE. The rain makes it difficult for me to leave the house as I use an electric wheelchair too so I end up cold, housebound, and frankly pissed off.

MidnightPatrol · 15/06/2024 13:47

@MrsWidgerysLodger I hadn’t even considered how frustrating this must be if you use a wheelchair!

We just had thunder. 😭

ilovebagpuss · 15/06/2024 13:52

Hate it, I'm not after baking hot weather either just nice dry high teens no cold wind.
Just feel like our warmer season is so short anyway and if you work you can't dash out on the good days so rely on a nice evening or weekend.
I want to sit in the garden in the morning and evening.
We are off to northern Italy in Aug and I'm holding on to that window of heat and sun although it will be the other extreme I am going to bask in it like a lizard.

PubicZirconia · 15/06/2024 13:55

40+ here in Cyprus, school was closed yesterday and even just putting the bins out is unbearable,I would sell my soul right now for a bit of rain or breeze and to be able to let my kids go outside safely before 7pm😒🤣

PatchworkElmer · 15/06/2024 13:58

On the sofa with hot water bottles after getting drenched and frozen at a summer fair this morning 🥶

Delatron · 15/06/2024 14:01

There is an actual thread about people loving this weather. It’s verging on selfish!! It’s been shit for about a year FFS. I’m going to an outdoor party tonight. Everyone is going to be freezing. What a shame.

Yet the lazy blanket festerers are still loving it. Don’t even they want a change?? I don’t want it to be hot all year I’d just like it not to feel like March in June..it’s very depressing.

I am getting sweary and cross on the other thread.

Springwatch123 · 15/06/2024 14:06

Got soaked to the skin on dog walk this morning and had to put a complete new outfit on. Now got comfy joggers and sweatshirt on. Sun now shining but it’s so windy out there.

I think I’ve only properly sat in garden and enjoyed the sunshine once this year. Occasionally snatched a sandwich or drink outside.

TattieBap · 15/06/2024 14:07

It's fucking hailing right now in Cambridge.

I was thinking of those in Greece with 43 degree weather. 🥵

Funkyfizz · 15/06/2024 13:00

Oh and now it's thundering.

Think this is heading out way shortly!

It's every day.
Every day.

You look at forecast for tomorrow, and think ok it looks dry then two hours later, raindrops.

So it's difficult to plan.

Not to mention the fucking up of bees, they can't pollinate in the rain, and other insects, which means birds and fledglings can't thrive.

But hey Susan can have another hot chocolate under a blanket and can't hear next door neighbours kids so we should all be fucking thankful yes?

And just for balance, for the cosy blanket lot, I do love a rainstorm, IN OCTOBER, I have a window seat at the top of house and sitting right under window, view across to woods, rain hammering down, tea and a book is great. But that's then, not when another day of the kids not hanging at the park or just walking to the shops carefree for a bit, happy, out, seeing where the day takes them. Yes I know I know they are our teens and not any one else's problem, we can and do entertainment them at home, but you only get a handful of summers when teenage.

So yeah it's pants. More so for our teens who like playing ball in the park. And for others with dogs, toddlers, outdoor jobs, farms, crops, vit D deficiency, just a general love of life going out and hanging out.

Even H has noticed how wet it is and that's unheard of!
