Anyone else hating the weather?

What is there to enjoy about this.

Its going to start to get darker again soon.

I’ve had enough of wearing waterproofs outside. I would like to sit in my garden. Maybe it would dry out long enough to do some gardening.

Id like to not be cold outdoors after 5pm - or to be honest, just in the middle of the day.

Id like to spend the day in the park or at the beach. I’d like to sit in the sun enjoying a rosé.

This truly must be the worst June on record.

I hate it.

Yep seriously pissed off that it's so windy that the cover has blown off the garden furniture, and have been trying to battle it back on in gale force winds and heavy rain. Have given up, it can just bloody get wet!!! I'm in a jumper and jeans as it's so miserable. 😡😡

Whiskyfromsmallglasses · 15/06/2024 16:38

Do you live in South London? Thought not

I don’t either, what’s your point?

rollonretirementfgs · 15/06/2024 16:41

SoupDragon · 15/06/2024 12:40

it's utterly miserable.

No doubt the cosy hot chocolate snugglers will be along shortly though.

I'm a cosy hot chocolate snuggler... and even I'm pissed off with this joke of a summer!

Why is it “selfish” to not mind what the weather is doing at the moment? There’s nothing we can do about it. Why does everyone have to love the hotter weather? I don’t because of the problems it brings where I live. Kids with footballs, shouting in gardens etc. We all have our own preferences

Have a bit of empathy - so many events cancelled because of this shit weather, kids can’t do their sports events, people’s mental health is suffering, farmers are screwed. Yet you lot just witter on about how happy you are that it’s raining again. It’s infuriating.

If you don’t like to hear kids playing football outside then that says a lot about you as a person. I love to hear kids playing and people enjoying themselves.

SoupDragon · 15/06/2024 12:52

I even thought about putting the central heating on the other day! I didn't, obviously, because it's JUNE and I refuse to.

I'm worried I won't get enough "summer" to see me through the shit months.

Edited

I gave into it today...we had thunder and lightening with the usual sodding rain this afternoon! It's really cold 🥶 The heating went on for an hour just to take the chill off!

rollonretirementfgs · 15/06/2024 16:43

MidnightPatrol · 15/06/2024 14:44

It’s hilarious that people enjoy the bad weather because they don’t have to hear other people enjoying themselves outside.

Did anyone actually say that though??

If you’re so happy within this vile weather what are you doing in a thread where people clearly aren’t? There’s a thread dedicated to posters like you who love this shit. Why don’t you fuck off there and stop being a goady sod? I think you’ve earned your stripes.

Yes see the post above about kids playing football and ‘people shouting’

It’s often given as a reason on here why people don’t like warm weather. God forbid people have BBQs and enjoy themselves. Personally I like to hear all the summer noise.

DistinguishedSocialCommentator · 15/06/2024 16:48

Thank you for your thread
I was thinking the same - really f's off with it and we live in the heart of the nation/London where the weather is often better than the rest of England

Our sons and his family have gone on a short break to Dubai with the little ones and our daughter and her hubby/family have tagged alone - we did not go as appts etc and travel ins sky high

We've been looking for at least two good, warmish days where the winds remain below 5mp so we can do a 2 dayt trip to bornmouth, beach view hotel or 3/4 days in Cornwall

For F sake we are almost approaching the LONGEST DAY of the year and we had the heating on for the last few days!!

Incredibly shit weather and I blame those idiots that chatted trash re climate change!!

CharlotteRumpling · 15/06/2024 16:51

I have changed my clothes 3 times today as we have had 4 different types of weather today.

I am trying to tell myself that there is a heat wave in half the world, and people are dying.

Debinaround · 15/06/2024 17:05

I hate it too! I had hailstones bouncing off my windscreen the other night when I was waiting to go into work. It's fucking June!

For the posters who love the cold, what I don't get is them all saying that they can wear their jumpers, get snuggled up under their duvet, drink hot chocolate, blah blah blah. If it's nice and warm you don't have to wear a jumper to be warm, you don't need to go to bed at 6 o'clock to snuggle under your duvet to stay warm. You don't have to drink hot chocolate to stay warm. You will just be warm! Wear a vest top, sit without a blanket on, drink an ice cold lemonade. Why people want it to be cold so they can do things to get warm year in year out baffles me. Confused

BogRollBOGOF · 15/06/2024 17:06

I have some blue sky!
I'm ignoring the huge cloud creeping over... the last one an hour ago brought the temperature down to 10⁰C and the drainage on the roads wasn't coping with the deluge.

I'll take the sound of people having the audacity to enjoy their gardens over the daily blattering of heavy rain on the conservatory.

So far the June temperatures are lower than May's; something that's only occured once in the past 300 years.

TigerRag · 15/06/2024 17:08

My issue is that it can't make up its mind what it's doing.

I think Scotland are getting England’s weather this year! May was glorious and although bitter for a few days last week, it’s not been bad at all. I’ve been sitting in the sunshine outside this morning. North East Scotland.

I think you are! What was it like in Scotland last year?

garlictwist · 15/06/2024 17:21

I've just got home and had a bath and put the heating on as I was so wet and cold. Dreadful.

SongSungBlues · 15/06/2024 17:25

At the risk of jinxing it, the forecast is looking better from 21st June onwards - actual sun and temps around 23 degrees C! I'm still sitting here in scarf and jumper...

Judellie · 15/06/2024 17:25

Hail earlier this week here too.
We've had ONE day this week (this summer!) where it didn't rain - and that day was really really cold.
Yet the roses are out. When have they seen the sun because I certainly haven't?!

frozendaisy · 15/06/2024 17:26

Anyone want a vit D tablet?
I can make herbal tea or rum to take it with happy to do either

There is an actual thread about people loving this weather. It’s verging on selfish!! It’s been shit for about a year FFS. I’m going to an outdoor party tonight. Everyone is going to be freezing. What a shame.

Yet the lazy blanket festerers are still loving it. Don’t even they want a change?? I don’t want it to be hot all year I’d just like it not to feel like March in June..it’s very depressing.

I am getting sweary and cross on the other thread.

Edited

How on earth is it 'selfish' to be enjoying something completely outside of anybody's control? They're not making it rain are they?! 😂

I fucking love it, but I'm managing not to rub it in to everyone who doesn't like it. Unlike the sun lovers who bang on about how 'amazing' it is every summer when somebody says they don't like the heat.

1dayatatime · 15/06/2024 18:11

@Delatron

Actually I went through the phase for several months of hating the weather and constant rain.

However I have now come out the other side and quite like the cooler weather as it seems normal now and probably wouldn't know what to do if it was sunny and hot again.

I put mine on a couple of days ago. It’s freezing in my house.

QuestionableMouse · 15/06/2024 18:24

Maidentale · 15/06/2024 16:23

That's exactly how I feel.

We're tenants on a farm and the last 11 months (yes 11 - it started raining in July 2023) and it's hardly stopped raining. We were tearing our hair out over winter with the ground being so wet and trying to deal with animals in fields that were turning into swamps.

It'll soon be Spring we'd say and we'd pray for sun, warmth and dry weather and look what we have sodding well got. I just can't bear the thought of going into another autumn/winter without the ground not having had a seriously good drying out. Practically it's a nightmare but it's also mentally very draining. 😢😢😢

It's truly awful. I have lots of friends with horses and they're really struggling because it's so wet. One has had to keep her horses in for weeks because she's on clay and it's like a quagmire. Dreading the hay and straw prices next winter if things don't change.
