Nibbly and lunchy bits - bang bang chicken with its dip, just add ham chunks, Katsu crisps, Greek salad, cheese scones from bakery, chocolate ginger biscuits, shortbread squares

Desserts - Greek yogurt with cherry in the bottom, choc ganache pots

Good stuff - lemon pepper smoked salmon, Rosa verde salad leaves

Don't buy - tomato salsa (skin on toms too chewy), hummus (too rich), raspberries (don’t keep as long as sell buy date)

Edited

Last year they did big tubs of that Bang Bang dip, it was amazing but just as I got fully addicted they stopped selling it. Wondered if it’s a summer thing, so if anyone sees it…

The blackcurrant sundaes are divine.

As a pp said for basics they are often cheaper than the big four - butter, mature cheddar, no frill cereals etc.

They do good luxuries too though. My current favourite luxury is tiramisu gelato. So rich and thick it is heavenly. And at a fiver a tub it's about the same price as Ben & jerry but a million times nicer.

To add to this, basic sliced bread, milk, mixed size eggs, baking supplies, peanut butter, beans, soup, ketchup, frozen veg, brown sauce etc, some veg and salad all really well priced and good reductions sometimes available although I've not found anything the last couple of times I've looked.

Sausages, bacon and big packs of chicken also good quality and not badly priced.

We also get the £12 gastro pub dine in as an alternative to a takeaway. I like the fish and chips or the paella, then you can get a side and dessert. The twin pots of panna cotta are lovely.

I also want to try the laundry liquid after seeing it recommended on here as an alternative to Persil non bio which has been changed to become really strongly fragranced but we have a big Costco bottle to get through first.

We have one in walking distance so go there quite often.

Ketchup

Flamingo sweets

Salmon pâté, although they currently have a cream cheese dip with capers and gerkins topped with hot smoked salmon (it's seasonal) that is even better spread on toast.

Nocellara and Kalamata olive sourdough loaves

Tinned cocktails: stronger than most (2-2.1 units vs the usual 1.3-1.5), and very tasty. I like the Mojito, Pina Colada, and Gin Bramble in their standard range, and the Paloma and Daiquiri in the fancier range.

I buy and freeze a lot of their yellow sticker meat, which is always good quality.

The £10 Crémant - cheaper than other supermarkets and nicer than their entry-level offerings.

Lifestooshort71 · 15/06/2024 06:58

Don't buy the shredded beef in lattice pastry parcels x 2. Hugely expensive, blood coloured liquid in bottom of pack and meat and pastry both dry and chewy. We like the double packs of fresh salmon cakes and the corn beef ones, broccoli cheese bake, carrot cake cup cakes, family-sized pasta bolognese bake and Cumberland pie. Chenin Blanc no5 with the red lid is scrummy for a cheapie wine but often sold out.

HowLoud · 15/06/2024 07:08

They do a big chocolate bar called the Big Daddy I think it is which is amazing. Like a giant snickers but better

Their Bircher museli is delicious

I second the recommendation for the super green salad and the chicken harissa little pot of salad. Both delicious and packed full of good stuff

I'm still mourning the loss of Reversy Percies

The mustard pretzel thins are impossible to stop eating

They also have some seeded cracker bread which is far healthier than normal bread

Apple turnovers from the bakery

CalicoPusscat · 15/06/2024 07:13

@SkankingWombat the cream cheese dip with capers/salmon etc sounds 😋

TerfTalking · 15/06/2024 07:22

I concur with lots above, especially the super green salad and poke bowls, the dressings are bloody awesome, pity you can’t just buy the dressing on its own. That said I’ve just bout a bottle of pomegranate dressing from there which is weird and wonderful atthe same time.

slavetothekittens · 15/06/2024 07:44

Their smashed potatoes with salsa Verde drizzle are potato heaven. And they do the best crispy potato slices.

Gowlett · 15/06/2024 07:49

Tiramisu Gelato, you say?

Agree re. basics. Best own brand Baked Beans.

Prices have dropped in Ireland, as it had become ridiculous… Add to that the lack of range. However, they are using more Irish suppliers to plug the gaps, which is great.

Those tubs of the millionaire bites. However once you’ve started you cannot stop. They are addictive as hell.

These plus the cookie dough ones.
The salted caramel teacakes are divine. I even love the paper bag they come in! It's so tactile!

Hawkerslife · 15/06/2024 07:53

Lightly dusted lemon sole. Absolutely delicious.

BigDahliaFan · 15/06/2024 07:59

Their hot smoked tandoori salmon is brilliant for a quick tea.
the packets of loch muir lightly smoked salmon, great in the freezer
their salsa in a jar is really nice, far better than any other jarred salsa
The soffrito in the freezer
coronation chicken flat ties in the bbq range, again brilliant quick tea
smoked haddock, mashed potato and green veg in a plastic tub, healthy ready meal.

Babymamamama · 15/06/2024 08:00

Yesterday I bought a lovely big bouquet of white flowers there for £15. Their flowers last ages. Also a new in item which was Apple and Watermelon juice which really hit the spot. Refreshing.
Generally I like their steaks, salads etc. All delish. With their pomegranate salad dressing to drizzle.
Oh and DD loves the banana bread.

PenelopeBridgerton · 15/06/2024 08:02

Frozen cookie dough to cut into rounds and bake. Or just eat.

Deli salad, or green goddess salad. Definition of a mumsnet big salad!

Any of the biscuits. Cream slices. Triple chocolate brownie squares (pack of four.) they also do an Italian biscuit range with these soft almond biscuits, lovely.

I could go on!

NoSquirrels · 15/06/2024 08:05

Custard filled choux buns. (But please don’t buy them all!)

As well as excitement there is much consternation that there are no customer toilets.

And the music was too loud and tinny! 🤣

@JustPleachy i keep looking for that super green salad (I walk through M&S every day to get to work!) and can never find it. Is it in the lunch section or the salad section if you know what I mean?

can you post a pic / link? I feel my life is empty without it.

I like M&S but can't bring myself to fill the fridge with clear plastic single use containers. Please M&S give us a waxed cardboard option. I don't know why supermarkets don't try this with some products - I would definitely buy card over plastic even if it gave it a shorter shelf life.
Thinking of the amount of cardboard amazon users get through it can't be that expensive to use card.

OooohAhhhh · 15/06/2024 08:58

Go at reduced time, then you can buy loads 🫢😀
That's what I do.

The loose bananas are fantastic value and exceptional quality
