They do a big chocolate bar called the Big Daddy I think it is which is amazing. Like a giant snickers but better

Their Bircher museli is delicious

I second the recommendation for the super green salad and the chicken harissa little pot of salad. Both delicious and packed full of good stuff

I'm still mourning the loss of Reversy Percies

The mustard pretzel thins are impossible to stop eating

They also have some seeded cracker bread which is far healthier than normal bread

Apple turnovers from the bakery

Reversy percys were the only ones i liked, they were fab, i dont understand why they got rid!

Where to start..

king prawn thermador
Deli fillers
All their fresh fruit/veg
Cheese or Deli coleslaw
King Asparagus (though it has gone now for the year)
wood fired spicy chicken pizza
Freshly squeezed orange juice
salted caramel profiteroles
Cheese & onion quiche
Fresh fruit jellies
colin & banoffee mousse desert
cheese tasters
cheese and onion combo snacks
colin sour sweets
own brand tonic water
Cured smoked bacons
Ultimate pork roast
Chicken is always good quality
Bbq/salad cream/horseradish/tartare sauces all excellent
Mixologist Porn star martini
Cherry vodka liquor

And that is all that immediately springs to mind, i do most of my weekly fresh shopping there, and rarely come across anything i dont like, except their tomato sauce, it has-to be Stokes in our house.

Their Greek yogurt 10% fat is amazing. Strawberries and blueberries. The cauliflower popcorn is nice.
I love some of their rose wine
The jafa cakes

OhWifey · 14/06/2024 20:47

Oh and the Everything Sauce is not full of rubbish

I agree. I keep a couple of jars on hand.

EnglishBluebell · 15/06/2024 10:27

The rainbow veg peeled & sliced stir fry in a clear box (in veg section next to fresh noodles etc). The one with the rolled up ribbons of carrots. Currently part of the stir fry bundle on Ocado. It's bloody beautiful and the veg is always so fresh. No dried bits or like Asda

What should I buy in M&S Foodhall?
SassyLimeHelper · 15/06/2024 10:36

Bread - white or seeded, cheaper and nicer than branded.
Soft fruits - especially strawberries.
Chicken breast
Picanha steaks
Ketchup
Supergreen salad
Mexican and Asian slaw kits
Brisket from the new summer range - we had it on tacos without the bbq sauce, with a barbacoa seasoning instead
Mushroom risotto meal kit
Wine
Baked beans
Tinned tomatoes

Bouledeneige · 15/06/2024 14:03

I like all their deli bits for when I'm working at home - roast tikka chicken bits, empanadas, marinaded prawns, salmon flakes. Also fruit salads and good quality meats - like pork saltimbocha and calves liver.

Anklesprainssuck · 15/06/2024 14:15

Bread- the round sliced French boule in the bakery department is a must.
Makes the best salted buttered toast on the planet.

BrigadierEtienneGerard · 15/06/2024 14:24

Steak pie in flaky pastry.

Don't bother with the steak and kidney - not enough kidney in it.

I like a lot of the little salads - there's a nutty one, quinoa and kale, etc. They're very tasty and healthy and I don't think they're ultra processed either.

They used to do a beetroot hummus and other bits pot which was lovely, but then I found the identical thing in Aldi for way less Shock

Go at reduced time, then you can buy loads 🫢😀
That's what I do.

I go at all different times of day, to two different ones (just when I happen to be there, not actively hanging out there 😅) but have NEVER seen anything yellow stickered.

When do they normally reduce, and where do they put it?

ClaudiaWrinklemum · 15/06/2024 14:51

The olive sourdough
Yes to the super green salad but the pasta bows with spinach and pine nuts is better
Vegan chicken kievs
The little manchego stuffed rolls of Serrano ham
Brie De meaux
Doux de Montagne
Buttermilk chicken fillets
cauliflower cheese
The cocktails in cans, although seriously mourning the discontinued raspberry mojitos 😭

All this talk about dips… Full range of dips aren’t available in Ireland anymore (and loads of other stuff. Thanks, Brexit). I have to buy the salad bowls to get even a tiny Bang Bang Sauce hit. The Labneh Yoghurt is really nice, but it’s no Herby Feta Dip… And now I have to hear about this amazing Caesar Dip (and Indian Dip!). I’m not even going to look, they won’t be there!

By some sort of miracle the dips have arrived in Ireland!! A very welcome surprise as I was doing the shop today. Safe to say the Caesar one went straight in my basket..

BarrelOfOtters · 15/06/2024 16:27

They make fresh garlic bread in the bakery and sell it in the frozen aisle.

clary · 15/06/2024 20:14

Well great, thanks to this thread DD and I raided the local M&S for yellow stickers today (many sandwiches!) and I just had to buy the pretzel thins to try them. In the spirit of research of course Grin

ouch321 · 15/06/2024 20:19

When I do see reduced stuff in M&S, even with the 25% off or thereabouts it's still more £££ than Lidl, Tesco etc.

You get what you pay for though. The vast majority of the time M&S food is always far better quality + fresher.

Well yeah, but I thought the phase of pretending Aldi and Lidl etc had like for like alternatives was over!

Bjorkdidit · 15/06/2024 21:42

The reductions are sometimes a lot more than 25% though. I usually only buy things when they're less than 50% of the full price.

I recently got a couple of packs of the 3 for £12 BBQ range for £1.50 each. You can sometimes get the fresh soup pots for under £1 and recently I've had a few punnets of fresh raspberries for about 50 p each that were originally £3 and were fine for another couple of days or to go in the freezer.

clary · 15/06/2024 21:56

Yeh an M&S sandwich for £2.20 pastrami and mustard is gonna be much nicer than an Aldi £2.20 sandwich tbh. And I am a big Aldi fan.

EmilyGilmoreenergy · 16/06/2024 19:50

I'm not saying I am easily influenced but I have just put in an Ocado order based almost entirely on this thread , I have even got the washing machine cleaner.
Bring on the salad baby.

I second others that the cocktail cans are the best you can buy.
Roast ham crisps are delicious and the gourmet meal deal fish and chips (although they have taken out the batter scraps with is a blow).

Metoo15 · 16/06/2024 19:57

The crispy potatoe slices
Beetroot in a jar
Salted caramel tea cakes
tomato everything sauce
Tinned soup
Tinned hot beef curry
Low fat coleslaw
Jam doughnuts
Fresh eggs
Fresh steak sandwich slices
All their biscuits and cream cakes 🤣

clary · 16/06/2024 20:07

Thanks to some recent research I can confirm that the bang bang chicken with peanut dip (a meal deal snack) is absolutely the bomb 😋

Those are good. In the same range they also do prawns with a sweet chilli dip and prawns with a Marie rose sauce.
