Anyone else loving the weather?

I'm so enjoying the cooler than normal weather. I can spend more time in the garden without getting hot and sweaty. Love sleeping in a cool bed. Can go for nice long walks. Less noise from neighbours. Win. Win.

I’d have gone home. Drizzle is miserable. Sun cream isn’t difficult, and neither is creating shade.
Edit: there’s also middle ground between drizzle and so hot and sunny life and limb cone under threat.

Edited

Horses for courses! We had 10 children and 4 adults having fun and everyone went home very jolly. Good thing different things suit different people.

It was great this evening. We had an event on the beach for cubs and it was a tiny bit drizzly but warm without being at all too hot and no need for missing about with suncream. Much better than it being sunny all day so we melted

Sounds lovely being on the beach in drizzle. I mean each to their own but there’s somewhere between drizzle and cold and melting. How hard is it to put on a bit of suncream?

I never claimed it was hard, I just find it immensely irritating and I was happy to be out of an June afternoon not needing to worry about it. It wasn't cold, it was cool for the time of year but light jumper weather, not hats and gloves.

Same as I've preferred this week so far to last week as I've not had to remember to get sun cream on the DC before school.

Iamtarticus · 03/07/2024 07:25

Its going to be 17 today 18 tomorrow where I am. That's not cold its lovely.

RampantIvy · 03/07/2024 07:30

15 and 16 degrees and rain here for the rest of the week.

Disappointing weather for July.

Longma · 03/07/2024 07:43

More fun than blazing sun and having to ensure 10 other children are covered in suncream and hats and all that faff. They had a brilliant time and I was more relaxed than I would have been in hot hot weather.

The drizzle sounds miserable to me.

Suncream - not an issue. Apply a good quality once a day in the morning and add UV suits for the children.

Much nicer than needing raincoats and then a way to warm up later and get all those wet or damp clothes dry.

I'd just go home rather than deal with it raining all evening.

17c is not warm in most people's mind. It's not cold. But it certainly isn't warm, either.

Agreed. Especially as the feels like temperature is likely to be a few degrees cooler. So it may say highs of 17, but when it's cloudy, wet and actually feels like 14-15 degrees it's not exactly what most would consider warm.

socks1107 · 03/07/2024 08:00

I don't enjoy the 30degrees plus sort of heat but I prefer that to drizzle on the beach.
That to me is just awful. I'm not particularly liking this constant grey. I keep thinking back to summers over the last twenty years or so and maybe this is normal but we've come to expect the weather that we've been spoilt with on the odd few where it's been so hot.

Yes 17 in July (and that’s a high of 17. - most of the day will be cooler) with cloud/drizzle and a fresh breeze, doesn’t feel pleasant. 17/18 with no breeze and sun is ok. It’s not summer dress weather and a bit rubbish for July but it’s ok. We don’t have that. It’s drizzle, cloud and wind.

I’d prefer suncream (I put it on my face every anyway) and sandals and shorts (no socks - hurrah) than jackets and umbrellas and bad hair. And outdoor plans ruined..

It's bloody miserable, it may be 19c but it's cloudy and raining making it feel cooler. Also it keeps stopping play at Wimbledon which is getting a tad annoying.

Same here. We've had driving rain, wind and grey skies all day. I'm back to wearing a thick jumper.

Loving this cooler weather and better to sleep in too.

I wouldn't mind cooler but this is just cold and miserable. Sad

LlynTegid · 03/07/2024 19:22

I'm ok with the weather in the week, just want sunshine at weekends.

katebushh · 03/07/2024 22:33

Apologies to slightly salty reactions to my being surprised at heating going on, I'm a bit menopausal so am pretty much always warm, plus I live in a noisy part of London in a newish build with triple glazing, don't hate me Smile

katebushh · 03/07/2024 22:35

I don't particular mind the non hotness but I do lament a grey sky this time of year. Traveling on the DLR through south east London to,work is depressing as hell when it's grey.

RampantIvy · 03/07/2024 23:24

It turned really chilly this evening and I spent it snuggled under a blanket while watching a film.

I shouldn't have to be doing that in July!

The forecast for Saturday is 14 degrees (sob).

MeinKraft · 03/07/2024 23:31

It was gorgeous here today, mild, sunny (with showers) and very windy. I love a fresh windy day.

Yes, me to. In October when I hope for a windy day.

Not in July when I want to sit outside and read a book, drink a glass of wine and enjoy the warmth on my skin.

Lifeisart · 04/07/2024 07:48

13 here (North West) with high winds so feels like 8!

RampantIvy · 04/07/2024 07:52

It has been very windy so far this summer. On the rare occasion the grass is dry enough to cut there are so many leaves on it. It feels more like autumn than summer.

It didn't even feel like 8 on this mornings dog walk and every single person I passed was in their big winter coat! July my arse.

Riversideandrelax · 04/07/2024 08:01

High of 20 here today so not too bad. Nice blue sky and sun.

I'd settle for that right now. 15 degrees but feels like 9 degrees forecast for today. However, it will be dry so I will get the bedding washed and on the line to dry.
