Just as well he has you to alleviate his frustration 🙄

He may well be pissed off if he’s under heat for looking in wrong area initially and he’s since been made aware of depression issues etc. Seems plausible that’s what he’s hinting at with some of his comments.

Were you one of those who thought William and knocked off Kate, too?

I might be wrong but are they not referring to the initial route from the beach to Pedi? I think the reporting has become very confused.

The Pedi to Agia Marina is what's being talked about here, not the first leg of the route which we know he made ok. The mayor is frustrated cos nobody seems to know if MM took off ascending the hill on a bizarre choice of paths, or if he took the more trodden, but still rarely used path to Agia Marina. I find looking at a google map helps figure it all out!

There are signs on the walk from Pedi beach to Agia Marina, and locals said they thought it would be hard to get lost. “It’s uneven under foot but it’s not treacherous,” said Jan Brownsort, 68.

hmmm but supposedly he wasn't taking the path heading to Agia Marina - he was going up and over to get to Symi, a different - more unclear, higher and rugged series of human and goats paths as in the article by that blogger you posted earlier

I think there’s the video footage and hikers blogs confirming that the area they’re searching now is by most people’s standards treacherous if unprepared.

Is there anywhere along there he cld stop off for a dip? To cool off?

I doubt he’s vanished it’s a 6km area they’re searching with a relatively small team. They just haven’t located him yet.

Wild theory. He booked himself into small hotel and is lying low.

Awful what happened to them. Seen two or three youtube videos on that case and its creepy as hell. The pictures being taken but the images gave little away. Plus the phone call attempts. Harrowing.

If he made it to Agia Marina he could have had a dip there, otherwise no, nowhere for a swim unless he descended some pretty steep hillside, which I dont think anyone of sound mind would do.

I'd have expected them to find him today if he's up there. They'd have scanned the limited number of paths and presumably the bottom of any inclines if they feel he may have fallen as has been suggested. Its not a dense wilderness although i admit he may be hidden awkwardly obscured by some rocks, but in that case the search may take days or weeks. Then there was that talk today of caves and tunnels. It does sound like they're clutching at straws.

He WAS walking fast though

If he is midst another depressive episode then it’s a possibility he chose this way and has hidden himself. That’s certainly one interpretation of the Mayors slightly odd comment.

@Oaktree55 Hidden himself where though? If wanted to go off grid for a while he wouldnt do it here, in blistering heat with no sustenance. As ive said before, this isnt John Rambo waging war on a tiny Greek island. Unless you mean taken himself off to do something final, again which doesnt add up given the lack of any sightings. There's always the option he's in the water but no diving searches took place today so encouragingly, the intelligence mustnt suggest that.

Do We know for a fact he’s had “depressive episodes” before though?

And by the mayor’s odd comment, do you mean the comment about why his wife and friends let him go alone?

I hope they find him safe and well.why didn't he take his mobile phone with him .
My Thoughts are with his family .

@ducktapez Pure conjecture but perhaps he didn’t want family to find him or for it to be in uk. It is possible to overdose rather than wait for the elements to get him. I’m purely trying to make sense of the Mayors comments he does rather seem to be hinting at a purpose to the whole situation. I hadn’t realised he suffered from depression.

That’s quite a leap given you have zero evidence.

Surely the worst way to do that in the blistering heat with no shade or trees.

No I mean this quote from Mayor

“Why did he leave the beach and his wife and friends? Why did he not take his telephone? From the CCTV footage, it’s also clear he didn’t stop for a drink in Pedi or take a rest. He seemed to be walking very determinedly. Surely it would have been better to stop and have a coffee or some water but, no, he decided to carry on.”

I wondered why he didn't stop for a drink in Pedi. Or get one for the walk. And yes he's walking fast.

What is your evidence of MM having had depressive episodes in the past?

I’m not even sure what it means/ is angling at. He’s under the mayor’s bed and the mayor can’t coax him out? Seriously there is far too much conjecture going on. We don’t know anything other than the fact he is missing and when he was last seen. That’s it.
