Thread 2 - Michael Mosley missing after disappearing on holiday walk

Following on from thread 1, linked below.

Let's hope the CCTV / sighting in town gives a glimmer of home that he made the walk from the beach to town ok.

If my husband said he felt unwell and was going back to the holiday home (some distance away and involving long walk or the need for transport), there’s NO way on earth I would have let him go alone. What were his family and so-called friends thinking to let him feel poorly without taking care of him. They should be ashamed.
I sincerely hope this lovely man will be found safe, and can get the medical help he clearly needs.

You sound nice

You would really have to try very hard to make a situation like this worse for the poor family, but you’ve certainly given it your all with this comment.

JessyCarr · 08/06/2024 06:52

The BBC is now saying that the reported new CCTV showing him entering the mountain track has been seen by PA news agency (previously it had not been provided to the media). If PA have verified it then this is really important.

daisychain01 · 08/06/2024 06:52

@LionBarPlease yy especially the extra touch of virtual signalling about I sincerely hope this lovely man will be found safe yeah weasly words easily said from someone who doesn't even know MM so how they can be sincere about it is anyone's guess.

Puygo · 08/06/2024 07:01

So it looks like he set off with a plan to walk to pedi and get bus to symi. Couldn’t get bus for whatever reason (eye witness saw him try to). So felt he had no option other than to try walking. Not knowing the area or perhaps someone have incorrect advice he has taken a path he thought would be more direct than the road but was actually very difficult terrain through mountains.

The Greek police have been a bit useless TBH.

Yeah because Nicola Bully was found in record time...

They are also not using search teams or night vision equipment

It was deployed from Athens so pipe down.

This is a very small island close to the border of Turkey, with limited resources. I know for a fact everything is being done to locate this man.

The more that we hear, the more it comes over that this is a very 'basic' search not a patch on what would happen here or in other countries

Give over little englander.

Why is your tone so nasty and rude?

This is what I think the most logical explanation. He must be in those hills-he is apparently nowhere else!!

Willmafrockfit · 08/06/2024 07:09

i read they saw him at the bus but cannot confirm he took the bus.
but now assume he took a difficult path from Pedi.
poor family

I am shocked reading this thread and I hope that it soon gets taken down. There are some seriously unwell, obsessive posters.

Haven't they had helicopters out daily though? Surely they'd have gone over that route numerous times.

Willmafrockfit · 08/06/2024 07:14

from bbc
Separate CCTV, from a house at the edge of Pedi’s marina at the far end of the village, shows Dr Mosley later entering a mountain path at about 14:00 local time, PA said.

Puygo · 08/06/2024 07:15

I think nobody thought to check that route initially. The search effort concentrated on the path from beach to pedi initially. From what I have read this route through the mountains is barely a proper path.

yes, that is what i understand

Puygo · 08/06/2024 07:21

I think it is easily done taking the wrong path. I could see myself doing that. So he arrives in pedi. Can’t get the bus. So his options are. Wait in pedi? Walk back to beach? Walk the route to the house. None are probably very appealing. No phone to discuss with his friends. He thinks sod it, the island is tiny it can’t take long to just take this quick path here which looks like it goes in the right direction

Passiflora2 · 08/06/2024 07:22

Suec254 · 08/06/2024 01:52

Pretty much all middle aged tourists dress that way, so eyewitness sightings are not reliable. CCTV footage however, is. Anyway here are updates. After making the short walk to the township, it seems he took the rocky inland path to get to the house. If he was unwell as he said, perhaps he had a medical episode. Or else he met with foul play. It's very strange. ttps://www.news.com.au/travel/travel-updates/incidents/mystery-of-tv-doctor-michael-mosleys-disappearance-deepens-as-cctv-emerges/news-story/0c3cfa61534881edcb114305eaa1fc98

Surely the umbrella is very identifying? It isn’t usual to see a man with an umbrella in the heat. Especially on such a small island?

Thegreatgiginthesky · 08/06/2024 07:23

I don't understand this at all. Even the mountain route looks pretty short (over a very small area)on Google maps so I fail to see how rescue team would fail to spot someone fairly quickly with helicopters and rescue dogs. It also looks pretty exposed with no cover unless there was a large rock he found shelter under.

Yes that's what I was thinking, the helicopters would've flown over that area and his clothes were pretty distinctive so would show up against the rocks.

but they werent searching that particular area before

Vettrianofan · 08/06/2024 07:28

Hopefully found soon, have been thinking of Dr Mosley. Not going to speculate in any way but hope for a good outcome for his family today.

QforCucumber · 08/06/2024 07:29

Just have to hope, with a focussed search area now - that he is found today and his backpack contained enough snacks/water to have got him through the last couple of days. Just a horrible situation.

User14March · 08/06/2024 07:29

@Thegreatgiginthesky @itsabitdamp I don’t think this area has been fully searched as yet. New data came to light via CCTV on a house at edge of marina/village (?) only very recently.

Delatron · 08/06/2024 07:37

It does seem likely now he took a wrong turn thinking it was a short cut. However you would hope - since it’s such a small island, that the rescue team would not have been stopping the search at Pedi for the last few days and these mountain routes would have been searched.

Feels like lots more resources are needed and quickly. It’s not the fall
in the sea scenario I though. I think he got ill/lost and is somewhere along that path. Though with that bright umbrella I don’t know how they haven’t found him yet.

Is your username indicative of why you’d write something like this. Firstly him saying he felt unwell is simply speculation, you’ve no idea, it is not confirmed, and secondly, attacking a family who are going through this is as low as it gets.

Puygo · 08/06/2024 07:47

I thought he mentioned to someone in pedi he felt unwell? It may not have been to his family
