Just that really. Will he be found?

Could the people who are only posting here to tell us whether or not they carry their phone, maybe use a different font or something so the rest of us can skim over their posts?

Honestly. The thread is about a well liked, high profile person who is missing. People are checking the thread to discuss the situation and hopefully see any updates, not to find out if you take your phone on walks.

Found myself checking the moon phase because something has to account for the bitchiness on this thread..!

Or perhaps you just have a heart of actual stone???

It's not "exaggerated investment in a stranger"

For many people he's not a stranger, i've never met him but I like his books and admire what he and his wife have achieved through their work on healthy living - which has directly improved my life, even though i don't know him. I feel the same about many writers.

Poettree · 07/06/2024 02:02

Sorry that comment is not aimed at you Howbizarre22 but agreeing with you.

NC for this.
Hoping he is ok ,because his advice has been life changing for me and my husband who have reversed diabetes .

That means that we now don't purchase breakfast cereals ,sugary snacks or use medication .Multiply that over hundreds of thousands of people and I bet that may affect some profits .....

You think Kellogs bumped him off?

It’s on BBC news online, that’s how I found out.

Edited

My bbc news 40 minutes ago says search will continue?

Netaporter · 07/06/2024 06:15

loveyouradvice · 07/06/2024 00:18

what puzzles me is why there are so few people looking for him - just 7 volunteers and one dog alongside a handful of police and firemen....

The island is tiny and an hour and a half from the next sizeable island, they won’t have the resources of the met police nor even the amount of holidaymakers you’d probably find in Butlins. Until yesterday to the Greek authorities he was just any old 67 year old man but probably after Sky news et al descended upon them they’ve tried in the last 12 hours to increase their presence/resources.

He’s helped so many people change their habits/lifestyle with his sense and reasoning I don’t think it’s odd/ghoulish/weird that people are invested to know if he’s ok or not. We don’t’know’ him but it feels like we do after listening to his lovely podcast or watching his sensible non-celebrity non-faddy science-based documentaries. It’s very different to the Nicola Bulley situation IMO.

LaBelleEtLeBadBoy · 06/06/2024 13:03

Maybe he wanted to relax without being tempted to scroll and google things?

Do you really think that someone of his intelligence isn't capable of going for a walk without googling something??!!
Just because those who find nothing else externally to stimulate or interest them, and that their life will end without a like or knowing what an 'influencer' is going every three seconds, are surgically attached to their phones, does not mean everyone needs to be within 2cm of their phone

LePetitMarseillias · 07/06/2024 06:31

Why are they searching the path if people saw him in town after his walk?

How many missing people who have fallen or been taken ill would have benefitted from
something like an Apple Watch that has fall detection tech built in and alerts authorities if you don’t cancel a call once it detects a fall.

I hope he is found, safe and well.

That's a bit mean. The guy's missing it's not the time to blame him for it

Binman · 07/06/2024 06:34

Although he is fit and well I question why he would chose to go for a walk in the midday sun during a heatwave in such terrain. He seems such a sensible person. I hope he is found safe.

Puygo · 07/06/2024 06:37

I think the sightings in the town are not confirmed with cctv. The people who reported it may have him confused with someone else who looks similar. So they will want to continue to check every line of enquiry

Levo · 07/06/2024 03:58

I really don’t think this is funny. There’s a time and a place for humour and I don’t think this is at all an appropriate time for it. There are lots of people hoping he will be found safe and well - probably close to millions, and I don’t think that’s an exaggeration - and this seems a particularly bad time to indulge in a bit of black humour, however light-hearted it’s intended to be.

Oaktree55 · 07/06/2024 06:40

Given his medical history he quite possibly felt unwell and wanted to get to their accommodation quickly. What I find strange is that no one offered to go back with him. If the search and rescue really has been so tiny initially then he may still be found if he’s fallen but seems too long now for a good outcome. Going from uk to almost 40c and no shade is quite taxing on the body.

daydreamsandsunbeams · 07/06/2024 06:43

@Byronada are you saying people shouldn't show any interest at all? Or that any interest in the case is inappropriate?

Willmafrockfit · 07/06/2024 06:45

he has been missing a long time now

Scorchio84 · 07/06/2024 06:46

yeah too long...

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 07/06/2024 06:47

I hope he is found safe and well. How worrying for his family.

You cannot assume they are correct, could have been someone similar and they are mistaken. Would be very silly of them to just say oh then we won’t search elsewhere.

I can't speak for @Levo but I interrupted their comment as making light of an odd suggestion by a different poster that MM's disappearance may be related to him having annoyed those with vested interests in junk food, not making light of MM's disappearance in itself.

Willmafrockfit · 07/06/2024 06:45

Yes, I am finding it a little unusual they can’t find him, it’s not a big place, even if something had sadly happened I’d have expected him to be found very quickly.

Willmafrockfit · 07/06/2024 06:52

i did read above that there aren't many people available to search, although more on the way

Invent · 07/06/2024 06:52

@Acapulco12 It was a shut down comment to the drama lamas. He could still be alive you know.

Yes, it’s very concerning. If he’s not on the island there’s only one other place he could be, assuming he didn’t leave intentionally.

I do hope he’s found safe and sound. His work has helped a lot of people improve their health and he seems a very pleasant chap. Fingers crossed for a good outcome.
