I'm not on a low income but we pay just enough to a joint account in when salaries go in to pay the DDs coming out. A few quid missing would mean payments bounce.

HMRC should issue an extra credit to cover bank charges.

There are no MPs currently, parliament has been dissolved. So no MPs until the 5th of July I am afraid

I am aware of this. I was following on from the poster who said that newly sworn in MPs would be happy to help people... ☺ ☺ ☺ ☺

I'm not the one who's lost my mind. That's obviously you, hence making such inane comments.

So what about payments that are due on Monday? Are the getting paid tomorrow instead? X

Nothing hasn’t said about. And I still haven’t received money

chloe1243 · 03/06/2024 16:21

Bbiya- that's what I'm saying, nothings been said about the Monday payments, and I still haven't had mine.

gojumpjump · 03/06/2024 16:25

BACS cut off is usually 3pm therefore I can't imagine any payments coming through today,

Londongirl8922 · 03/06/2024 16:31

Mine didn’t go in today either…hopefully it goes in tomorrow or later today, not fair on some parents that rely on it to get food for their babies 🥺🥺 hope it’s sorted soon

The latest updated article on BBC news (1 hour ago) , which has been linked several times, says it understands that some payments will not clear until Wednesday.

At this point, tomorrow's scheduled payments are expected to be paid as usual.

I wish people would read, even just a few posts up, before commenting and asking the same questions over and over.

This is a group for advice, no? Maybe someone doesn't want to scroll 100's of messages down. If someone's wants to ask the same question again and again, they can. Who are you to say they can't?

I would normally agree with you but I definitely don't in these circumstances

Some parents who are affected by non-payment are getting desperate . . . they've waited all day to see if the child allowance payments will reach their bank accounts and hope is now fading that they will get the money today

It's obvious that they are trying to quickly get information and I think, due to the desperate circumstances that they have unexpectedly found themselves in, they need a bit of kindness and sympathy, NOT criticism . . . .

I’m sorry you’re in such a stressful situation.

I would hope that nobody would be making comments about this in a negative way. I think this situation has perhaps opened a lot of people’s eyes as to how many people are actually dependant on this money. I must admit myself it has certainly opened my eyes to that fact.

People are panicking, that's why they are asking the same questions again and again. Try to show some kind of empathy.

They just posted - we should receive Wednesday morning child benefit

chloe1243 · 03/06/2024 17:46

bbiya- thank you m'love x

Mugcake · 03/06/2024 17:49

Just read a martin lewis article that says if you're out of pocket because of this then you should complain to HMRC for redress, so keep a note of anything. It's so stressful, hope it's all sorted soon x

bbiya · 03/06/2024 17:51

latest update.

No child benefit payment
LakieLady · 03/06/2024 17:57

Fab238 · 03/06/2024 14:01

Yes I'm actually. Given the amount we're referring to is around £50 max, it's not unreasonable to assume that most would have a saving cushion.

Ffs, what planet are you on?

Do you really think that someone with a child, dependent on benefits, who gets around £700 a month to live on, pay all their bills and quite probably pay a couple of hundred towards their rent is going to be in a position to build up a "saving cushion"?

Go and spend a couple of afternoons a week volunteering in a CAB or a food bank, it'll give you a better grasp on reality.

Nelliedee · 03/06/2024 18:21

Wednesday apparently

No child benefit payment
YourWildAmberSloth · 03/06/2024 18:55

Does anyone else feel sad reading this thread. I actually feel quite tearful - not sure why. I knew that things were tough for many at the moment, but its such a stark reminder of just how many people are living on the edge, literally waiting for a benefits payment to drop so that they can buy food, get kids to school, charge meters etc. I don't know what the answer is but it's just really sad. I get CB but I don't rely on it, so can't imagine how it feels. I hope that the issue is resolved quickly.

Yes, I feel the same. My DM used to save the child benefit for clothes and shoes so, if a payment had been missed, we wouldn't have been immediately affected.

But reading some of these posts has made me realise how fragile some families finances are . . . I already knew a little of this, of course, but some of the details have really highlighted for me how vulnerable some families are when unexpected events occur.

Wednesday must seem a long way away when food and nappies are in short supply, or there's no money left for the electric meter. And I can't bear to think of mum's not having money for baby food

Sending love to all those who are affected . . . I wish I could help in some way, I really do

It's been horrible and now not getting the payment until Wednesday means my son will be going hungry for a second night in a row (I dont care about myself not eating, i can handle it). No breakfast stuff this morning as I was hoping to get to the shop early but that couldn't happen and now my son has to go to preschool without a breakfast or lunch again! I've not long moved house and dont have a cooker yet so any food I do have is useless right now as its all frozen and not microwavable.

I've relied on CB payments every Monday for the last 2 1/2 years to do my weeks shopping (I've gotten good at finding deals and yellow labels are a godsend!) But all that is useless if the payment doesn't happen. Breaks my heart to have my boy turn to me before he goes to sleep and say his tummy hurts, as he doesn't understand and all I can say to him is sorry 😭
