Are people really that desperate for the money? If its a delay at HMRC or DWP then it will probably credit in the next day or so

Jeez, how rude are you? I'm not desperate but clearly others may be.

Yes some people are desperate for the money! Really ignorant for you to suggest they are not so roll your neck in

Of course they are FFS, why do you think so many people are worried? Be grateful you are not in the same boat.

People on low incomes have every penny budgetted for, and have to arrange standing orders/DDs for days when they know how much will be arriving in their account that day. So yes, some people are that desperate.

Something like this will push a fair few people into unauthorised overdrafts and/or rejected DDs, which will in turn mean they incur bank charges.

I'll repeat my advice from the previous thread: the DWP will sometimes compensate claimants for bank charges incurred because of a DWP cock-up. If this happens to anyone reading, I'd suggest giving it a try with HMRC.

And if you don't get any joy, it might be worth taking up with your MP in a few weeks time. They should all be dead keen to make a good impression when they're newly elected.

Are you weekly paid?

Whitesapphire · 03/06/2024 13:27

No, every four weeks.

Apparently they are working hard to pay today or tomorrow

No, every four weeks.

The non payment only affects people who get paid every week

Wow, that is really ignorant. Yes, some people do really need the money and rely on it but food for their children etc.

I haven’t received. I got pair every 4 weeks and still nothing.
why I check online - it’s stated I should got paid money today but nothing

Elderflower14 · 03/06/2024 13:46

A few years ago ds2s disability benefits kept being paid in late. The benefit lady at college tried very hard to get it sorted but no joy. I got in touch with ds2 MP who rattled the benefits agency sufficiently that not only did they sort it out, they also gave him £100 compensation after MP suggested they did, so it's definitely worth contacting MP if it isn't sorted shortly...

No, I have seen several posters say they are on four weekly payments and have not received it.

gojumpjump · 03/06/2024 13:48

@BarcardiWithGadaffia incorrect, I'm paid monthly and not received anything today.

Bagpuss2022 · 03/06/2024 13:49

4 weekly and haven’t received mine.
Luckily it doesn’t really affect me but I’m worried about the thousands of innocent families who are struggling and for some it is really relied on.
for those saying go to the food bank you have to be refered and that’s really hard to get

listsandbudgets · 03/06/2024 13:52

@transformandriseup People who get their CB weekly are usually either on certain benefits, single parents or both. In other words they are likely to be budgeting more tightly than people who receive it monthly and things like direct debits maybe very carefully planned around income.

I hope it comes in soon for you all. It's a complete debacle Flowers

There are no MPs currently, parliament has been dissolved. So no MPs until the 5th of July I am afraid

QuaintBear · 03/06/2024 13:55

I'm paid weekly and was heavily dependent on this payment today. I've just moved house 5 days ago and have no cooker at the moment so I'm relying on microwave stuff for myself and 3 year old boy. No bread or basic stuff for sandwiches. Fridge is empty and the freezer stuff i have is of no use to me at the moment as i cant cook it. I'm massively stressing that I'm going to have to send him to bed hungry tonight.

I hope this gets sorted today, it's completely screwed me!

Fab238 · 03/06/2024 13:56

I'm really surprised so many people are desperate, for what is, usually a petty amount.

plimbow · 03/06/2024 13:57

It was 'family allowance' when mine were young, and yes I relied on it. Used to be at the Post Office first thing on Tuesdays to collect the cash.

Fingers crossed for you all. x
