Tinned chopped tomatoes that are not all stalk and skin

Just that really…what are the best tinned tomatoes? I’ve just fished out a ton of stalk and skin from tins of Napolina and am grumpy about it. About 10 stalks in one tin! I’ve also tried M&S and Waitrose as I thought they might be a bit more “premium” alas no…they were just as bad.
Any recommendations on tins that are consistently (relatively) free from skins and stalk? I don’t mind paying more for great quality but the go-to beacons of quality have failed me.

Cirio. I buy them in bulk from ocado when they’re on offer as they vary massively in price.

Lidl own brand "polpa" (very finely chopped). Nearly as good as the ££ Mutti brand, but half the price!

Agree. My favourite tinned tomatoes. Don't use anything else. I buy in bulk when they are on offer.

I’ve found Mutti tinned tomatoes to be pretty good and not too stalky.

Mutti. I get them when they are on offer. Ridiculous difference in quality, they are like a completely different product.

Mutti ‘Polpa’ finely chopped tomatoes are my favourite now.

They are more expensive, but are often on special offer and taste delicious.

Ciro or Mutti.

Sainsburys Italian chopped or plum very thick and lush

These ones are great and about 79p a can.

Another recommendation here for Lidl Polpa. As a poster above has said, like Mutti, but about 75p a tin.

I buy passata now for this very reason. The stalks and skin make me feel quite sick, for some reason! I haven't found a recipe where using passata instead of tinned tomatoes doesn't work.

Another vote for Cirio - I discovered these during the covid lockdowns when the shelves were emptied due to people hoarding and you couldn't get supermarket own brands or more "normal" brands like Napolina. The difference in quality is astonishing.

I always buy whole tin tomatoes and squish them myself. I read once they are higher grade than chopped. Never had an issue.

Try Mutti you’ll be even more astonished. Worth every penny imo.

I’ve discovered tinned cherry tomatoes. So much nicer and more taste (and more expensive), or use passatta.

i read that for a curry, passata is better, so that is my number one choice now

I'm in Italy but order for dd who is at university in the UK.

Mutti win hands down, I buy in hulk when they are on offer. I bought Cirio last week because I had run out and I couldn't bring myself to pay full price for Mutti but they were really watery by comparison.

Jamie Oliver recommends this as well.

Mutti are the best. The flavour is wonderful and they are naturally sweet. Admittedly more expensive but they are sometimes on a deal and when I use them to make tomato sauce the children actually eat it rather than demanding the dreaded plain pasta with cheese.

Cirio are second best. I dislike Napolina.

Agree it’s just a completely different product vs the usual / own brand tomatoes.

Another vote for Mutti polpla.
More like a slightly more textured passata. Worth the extra money - I hate having to fish a chap Ed out top /stalk bit out of most cheaper brands.

Never even heard of Mutti! I am on it…thanks for all the recommendations! Have tried Cirio before and did find them to be better - they never seem to have them in my local supermarket though.
