Like you literally got NOTHING for it.
DD wanted to go to drama club for ages. Loved the first term. Asked if she wanted to do the second term. No sooner had a I sent the money across she came and told me she didn't want to do it and has been moaning and tantruming about it ever since. £90 completely wasted. I'm feeling pretty salty about it atm. Help me feel better about it with your wasted money stories?

Driving lessons for myself 🙈

I know what you mean! I’ve been learning off and on and lessons are now £40 an hour and most sessions instructor are offering are minimum 2 hours long, so that’s a minimum of £80 a week.

I’ve given myself to the end of the year to learn or I’m going to give it up as I keep throwing money at them and it has to stop 😂

I have had issues with instructors though to be fair (it’s all their fault of course not mine lol)

Edited

I had lessons weekly for a couple of months. I gave up in the end, I just couldn’t hack it! I dreaded every lesson, so I gave up. I’m content with not being able to drive!

@MewMew101 do a search for an Aussie driver on fb, his name is KDVlogs, I'm sure your driving isn't that bad 😊 plenty of hours lost watching his videos 😅😅.

DH paid 8€ for three kids ice creams on the stupid ferry journey as he felt guilty for having said no to something earlier on. One tub was eaten by the kids.

@MewMew101 @Losetowin have you tried learning on an automatic? It's a game changer. It frees up a lot of brain space to deal with other traffic on the road, unfamiliar environment, road signs, hazards etc. I had given up on driving but came back to it late and now love driving.

Riverlee · 29/07/2024 21:41

I agree, try an automatic. It takes the stress out if driving. You have two pedals, ‘go’ and ‘stop’. So much easier.

Losetowin · 01/08/2024 10:28

@MewMew101 Fair enough - driving isn’t for everyone and thankfully many countries have decent public transport systems (and Uber!)

@ilovesushi yes good shout - I’m currently learning in an automatic after wasting a lot of time in a manual 😂 it is much easier and I’ve made much more progress.

ilovesushi · 01/08/2024 10:40

@Losetowin that is good news! I passed first time on an automatic the week before I turned 40. I had failed my test on a manual twice in my 20s and gave up in disgust convinced it wasn't for me. I pride myself on being a really good driver now.

Losetowin · 01/08/2024 11:12

@ilovesushi Excellent, well done on passing ! My friend failed 5 times but absolutely loves driving after passing on her 6th attempt and is a great driver.

I had a wee break from driving lessons this past month for various reasons, but starting back with a new instructor next week! I’m doing 2 hours a week.

I don’t know what year you passed - the driving test booking system has been in shambles since the pandemic, but trying to find a test date for September so here’s hoping I’ll get to sit the test then.
