Like you literally got NOTHING for it.
DD wanted to go to drama club for ages. Loved the first term. Asked if she wanted to do the second term. No sooner had a I sent the money across she came and told me she didn't want to do it and has been moaning and tantruming about it ever since. £90 completely wasted. I'm feeling pretty salty about it atm. Help me feel better about it with your wasted money stories?

I’ve always had really dark circles under my eyes, and about 15 years ago I heard about a revolutionary new cream that apparently worked wonders…had always been desperate to lighten and tighten up the skin, so I spent £75 on a teeny bright yellow tube of this stuff in Selfridges that I was assured was absolutely amazing. First application - great, I was really pleased. Second application - really seemed to be working but was a little uncomfortable. Third application - face blew up like a bright red puffy bowling ball. I don’t live near London and I gave up on trying to get my money back. I’m still resentful about that £75!

we scrimped, saved and went without to send our first born to a fee paying school. During Covid it cost me 6 grand of schooling which consisted of YouTube videos the teachers sent over 😱we gave our notice and she started the local primary. Biggest WASTE of money ever!

£500 on teeth whitening , which hurt like hell but only lifted about 2 shades. A teeth whitening toothpaste is as effective and a lot cheaper than current teeth whitening.

That’s disappointing! What whitening treatment did you have? I’m looking to have mine whitened. Whitening toothpaste has never done anything for me.

That was enlighten teeth whitening.

I've also tried laser teeth whitening, which did work BUT the results only last untill you start eating normally again (they ask you to eat just white and clear foods after treatment to prevent staining)

I recently mowed over the cable of a brand new electric lawnmower the first time I used it and that's exactly how I described it - a tax on stupidity. I was raging less about the money than the wastefulness of it in terms of the resources used to make and ship it.

Legoland, in the rain, when half of England seemed to be there. I came out that day saying I may as well have flung the money in the Thames.

You can repair the cable on the mower. If you can't answer electrician can easily do it. The whole thing doesn't have to go to waste.

A long (expensive) train trip that I took instead of driving because I thought I could work on the train.

Worse still, I upgraded mid journey in the hope/panic that the WiFi would work in first class 🤦‍♀️.

Had to pull an all nighter when I got home.

£200 🔥

£20000 on a brand new Smart ForTwo electric car. At under 3000 miles it stopped charging reliably and an electric car which doesn't charge is not a lot of use. It's spent the last 9 months back at the dealership while I wait for a decision from the motor ombudsman on a refund. Still having to pay for the insurance.

Decision arrived from the Ombudsman. They ruled against me so I have the car back.... Bother!!!

How did they rule against you when the car is clearly faulty??

I bought the KidsPass membership in order to get a discount for a theme park - £1 for the first month and £2.99 per month afterwards. I was supposed to cancel after the first month but instead have spent god knows how much more than the initial saving on a membership that I've never used since!!

Horse behaviour issues - if you know, you know !
Horse ulcer treatment- first scan plus sedation, 8 weeks initial treatment of 2 syringes a day plus supplements in his feed, a second scan plus sedation to see how it’s going, another 4 weeks of treatment just in case, final scope plus sedation. No difference.
12 weeks at boot camp with specialist horse ‘know it all’. Came back worse.
Home visit for advise with well known horse whisperer. Small temp improvement then back to being a menace.
Horse chiropractor monthly. Horse swimming money. I met lots of nice knowledgeable people, who made zero difference.
Bespoke fitted saddle x 2. Bit doctors.
Every gadget you can think of included infrared crap, magnetic crap, titanium liquid masks also crap. Nothing changed him.
My quest continues, I just can’t admit I’m wrong about this horse 🙈

Made to measure blinds for the kitchen. Had to do some plumbing which damaged the wall as they moved pipes. After they replastered, it's too narrow for the blind to go in. Other blind still ok, so hoping they still have the fabric, otherwise have to replace both at just under £400.

Bought a £110 white shirt to wear with a suit to a wedding (quite a bit of money for me). It didn’t go well with the suit when I tried it on so needed to return.

My usual disorganised self managed to get into John Lewis, the shirt in a bag with the receipt, on the last possible day of returning.

Got to the counter and told the lady I’d like a refund as it wasn’t suitable. Handed over shirt and… a Zara receipt that I’d accidentally brought instead 🤡I honestly think she thought I was a scammer. No time to go home and get receipt then come back to shop at that point ☹️

Can you not get someone local to re-make it with the fabric from the now too wide blind (assuming it's not such a marginal difference that some vigorous sanding would make it work)?

£3200 Vet bill to find nothing wrong with the cat sob

The cat had lost a lot of weight, so took him to the vets. They did blood tests, but couldn't find anything obvious. They referred him to a specialist referrals centre.
The specialist vet examines him, takes blood, biopsies, ultrasound. Still nothing obvious. They sent him home with an appetite stimulant, he starts eating again and gains weight.

Our insurance maxed out at £2000, so I had to pay a further £1200. Still no idea why he lost so much weight. Husband hates him.

Thanks but hey are from a local seamstress/curtain maker. This was much cheaper than the big shop in town.

Brought back so many memories. We spent a bloody fortune on my daughters horse over the 7 years we’d had her. Like you, new saddle, scoped for gastric ulcers which totalled 4k in treatment in the end. So called horse whisperers, physio, you name it the moody mare had it.

She was very highly strung and an absolute cow bag and we put up with that for 7 bloody years. Given my time again I would have gotten rid of her sooner. She would crush us up against walls, on purpose, and in the end she kicked out and broke my arm so badly I now have a plate in it.

I had simply had enough and sold her to a dealer, I honestly didn’t care if she ended up in a find us lasagne, she was such a cow and dangerous.
