^

Do you think “snob” “posh” or “twit”

OP posts:
OceanStorm · 17/05/2024 06:15

I would think you have great taste in holidays

Whatineed · 17/05/2024 06:18

Ooh are you staying at Palm Island OP?

I sailed for a day around the Grenadines about 15 years ago after my wedding in Barbados. it was absolutely gorgeous. We had a lunch stop at Palm Island and it was absolutely gorgeous. Would love to stay at that resort.

0tterish · 17/05/2024 06:20

I would suggest that only very posh people call people twits anyway

Sashikocheck · 17/05/2024 06:45

Nothing really - maybe slightly unimaginative, not my thing.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 17/05/2024 06:47

It's not the destination that would bother me it's the 'we love it there' that sounds smug and entitled.

Universalrehearsal · 17/05/2024 06:51

Colleague is jealous. HTH.

Wishimaywishimight · 17/05/2024 07:05

I would think "so do I".

I think. . . They have been to the Caribbean and enjoyed it?

Yep

Hereyoume · 17/05/2024 07:22

It's just a holiday. Would you get upset if someone says they like going to Mauritius every year.

Likewhatever · 17/05/2024 07:44

I’ve had many holidays in the Caribbean and enjoyed them all, but it’s not the exclusive destination it used to be. The islands cater for the cruise industry these days, so it’s become affordable for many more people. Definitely not posh.

Elebag · 17/05/2024 07:48

I'd think they were posh if they went to St Barts or Mustique.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 17/05/2024 07:55

I would think they love warm Caribbean sea and are not hard up.

I’d also assume that anyone thinking they must be posh/snobbish, must have a massive chip on their shoulder. We’ve had holidays in the Caribbean and a friend of ours once told me she’d never go there, because it’d be full of posh southern U.K. snobs. (We are from London, she was from Leeds - we were all living in Oman at the time.)

I asked whether she thought dh and I were posh snobs.
‘No!’
’Well then.’
But the idea was firmly fixed in her head.

MelifluousMint · 17/05/2024 07:56

No of course not. Why would you?

childlessandfree · 17/05/2024 08:08

Ive been to the caribbean i loved it.
Im not posh or a twat or snob or rich i just wanted to go.

TroysMammy · 17/05/2024 08:11

I'd think not for me as I can't stand lounging on a beach all day. But they may think my preference for museum/attraction/historical sites is boring as well. Each to their own.

Bananadramallamas · 17/05/2024 08:13

She's jealous, that's all.

Puravida23 · 17/05/2024 08:15

I would just think they liked beach holidays and R&R nothing more
If I subsequently found out that is all they did holiday wise I would think them boring They obviously have the budget to do much more exciting, interesting holidays.

Glittertwins · 17/05/2024 08:19

Bananadramallamas · 17/05/2024 08:13

She's jealous, that's all.

I'd go with this too!
We had a fantastically lazy holiday and it was what we all needed.

DappledThings · 17/05/2024 08:22

Pollipops1 · 16/05/2024 23:06

I'd just think they're a bit dull and lacking imagination because it sounds like they enjoy going to the same place on repeat.

That doesn’t make sense

Why doesn't it? That's what I'd think too although I wouldn't voice it. Definitely not posh.

That they enjoy holidays in the Caribbean.

😂 Basically.

What could you do in other places that is more exciting then what you can do in the Caribbean?

LadyHavelockVetinari · 17/05/2024 08:28

She's rude and jealous.

TorroFerney · 17/05/2024 08:32

But she asked you , did she want you to lie? Are you close and take the mickey out of each other and it was a bit tongue in cheek?

as an aside you don’t hear the word twit a lot.

Beekeepingmum · 17/05/2024 08:35

I just think "obviously". Just like people like winning the lottery, or like it when their child wins an Olympic gold medal.

Puravida23 · 17/05/2024 08:37

@OceanStorm well I am off to Japan in September I am expecting it to be a lot different to the Caribbean and much more interesting😃
For me holidays are learning about new places, cultures, lifestyles , seeing things. Dont get me wrong I love a gorgeous beach, snorkling and cocktails so the odd Caribbean island wouldn’t go a miss but not every year. Or combine it. I did one trip where we did Mexico, Guatemala and Belize (if you count Belize as the Caribbean) that was great as I appreciated the relaxation after climbing all those Mayan temples and visiting sites
