Would you pay 8K for this?

All inclusive for a week in Greece.

I have fallen in love with the place, love the muted tones.

But is any all inclusive holiday for 7 nights worth £8,000? For 2 adults and 2 DC

I spend around £3k and find the places I go are really nice. Would it really be worth the extra £5k?

I don't have that kind of money, anyway Grin but genuinely interested to see if that type of place is worth it when you can go someone very nice for 2-3K

There is no way I would pay 8k for that. With 8 K you could go backpacking for like 6 months in India or South East Asia, or go backpacking in central/south america for 4 months. Obviously that's if you don't have to pay morgage/rent at home then it would be slightly more expensive. You could basically live in central or south america for months and learn loads of Spanish.

You can backpack India for £20 a day or less. 8K for ten days is insane to me. You must be very rich. I would only spend that much on ten days if I was drowning in money and had money to throw away.

Oh actually it's for 4 people, that's not quite as bad then. Sorry didn't read it properly.

That’s not a bad price as for 3 of us we’ve paid £6000 for 7 nights in Sept xx

For 8k I would hope to have separate bedroom and beds for the kids! The link just shows a double bed, and sofa bed in the living area.

DodoTired · 15/05/2024 19:42

Before the link I already thought it must be Ikos :)

everyone I know who went there totally raves about Ikos hotels but I wouldn’t pay that much, no. Because we have childcare bills to pay. And there are other options!

now, a week skiing in half term apparently approaches 8K. Not sure what to about that!

if you really want Ikos, go off season, will be much cheaper

thegrumpusch · 15/05/2024 19:42

Just came back from there and honestly, no it wasn't worth it

Yeah I didn't read the original post properly, whoops! Seems good for 4 people.

Hotgirlwinter · 15/05/2024 19:50

Yes if I had it, I’ve not had an Ikos holiday before but apparently it’s worth the cost!

Also Corfu is a beautiful island, Greece is a fantastic country and very diverse. I don’t understand the obsession with it having to be long haul for it to be considered worth spending on. You can do Greece for cheap of course but that’s just because we’re close by, it’s not because the area is any less beautiful or interesting than somewhere 5 times the distance.
such a weird mindset - if it’s close by then I’m only doing cheap and cheerful!

Sure but she wants a week all inclusive in somewhat luxury surroundings in Greece, not to uproot her family for 6 months in India????

Its apples and oranges

Where are you finding AI for a week for a family of four in the school holidays at £2-3k?

I've done it for less. Greece and Majorca...we used On the Beach. Basic flight but the food and hotel, especially in Majorca, were good. It wasn't Michelin starred but we probably paid around £1,500-2k. We had fun!

bows101 · 15/05/2024 19:56

I've been to Dassia, not that hotel but I thought it was a lovely little village. But there isn't too much to do, and I'm not sure if Corfu would be worth 8k at any hotel to be honest.

qwertyasdfgzxcv · 15/05/2024 19:56

Looks lovely but 8k!! If I could afford it and wouldn't feel short changed then yes otherwise no, not for a week

Bs0u416d · 15/05/2024 19:57

Ikos is great and absolutely worth it. Beautiful properties, wonderful service and great food and wine. Though don't have kids so can go outside holidays. We did Dassia in April and are going to Aria in early October.

hilbil21 · 15/05/2024 19:59

@Iloveburgerswaymorethanishould which one are you in? I'm looking for Turkey next year.

It is up to each person what is right for them. We have used Neilson before the key issue there before childcare (which is what can make a real holiday or not) although other people will say they would hate not to be with the children 24/7 - so again just a personal choice. https://www.neilson.co.uk/beach/greece

We are doing Neilson in July for two weeks - I feel quite queasy thinking how much we have paid 😱

Salou

It's Salou though.

Personally I wouldn't want to go to a low quality all inclusive. I wouldn't want my hard-earned money going on school canteen type food. I'd rather get a self-catering apartment and go for a few meals out and just have a bottle of wine at night but that's just my preference (after a particularly nasty 3 star hotel experience in Majorca - was half board but god, the food was inedible so we had to pay to eat out anyway. I begrudged every penny I gave to that holiday company)

GreenFairies · 15/05/2024 20:02

Currently in the middle of booking two weeks in Sani for a family of four, which is Ikos’ sister chain. It’s a lot of money, but meant to be worth it.

And it’s definitely not a Tui hotel! They’re just selling it. Have a look around and you may find other offers.

Saschka · 15/05/2024 20:03

specialk9 · 15/05/2024 13:27

What do people mean by a TUI holiday ? 😆 you know they do all sorts, not just 3* Benidorm right?

Yes I would. Ikos and Sani are an exceptional level of family All Inclusive.

I would mean TUI holiday as in “European beach holiday”.

I’d spend £8k on a weeks’ safari in Kenya, or trip to Costa Rica, or Japan, or Hawaii. If money was no object I might spend it on a very fancy ski trip. But not a week in Corfu.

I’m not a beach person and wouldn’t spend that to go to Mustique either - just isn’t really my thing.

Yeah I didn't read the original post properly, whoops! Seems good for 4 people.

Having said that of course Asia is cheaper, we spent about 10K or so for a month in Thailand in nice hotels with a child and a baby. But we also had cheap companion voucher flights, economy and they are long. Its just so much harder to travel long haul with kids sadly

junecat · 15/05/2024 20:06

I wouldn't. I love Corfu and go often. It's so beautiful it would be a complete waste of money as we spend very little time in our room and like eating in different villages.

I am however spending 5K on a three week all inclusive yoga trip to Sri Lanka. That's just for me ❤️

HMW1906 · 15/05/2024 20:07

Although I would spend £8k on a holiday it would probably be a bit more of a once in a lifetime, one off destination rather than a weeks all inclusive. Having said that we are going to Greece this year and spending £4k for 2 weeks 2 adults plus a free child place and an infant. If we wanted to go to the same place next year we’re looking at around £6k plus 1 free child place, if there were no free child places we would be looking at £8k for 2 weeks so we either need to find cheaper holidays or increase our holiday budget moving forward.

Ihatelaundry · 15/05/2024 20:07

I am not opposed to spending 8k on a family holiday, but I think with that budget you could go somewhere a lot more interesting than Greece.
