Would you pay 8K for this?

All inclusive for a week in Greece.

I have fallen in love with the place, love the muted tones.

But is any all inclusive holiday for 7 nights worth £8,000? For 2 adults and 2 DC

I spend around £3k and find the places I go are really nice. Would it really be worth the extra £5k?

I don't have that kind of money, anyway Grin but genuinely interested to see if that type of place is worth it when you can go someone very nice for 2-3K

We have stayed at IKOS Dassia, in Oct 23 and Apr 24, I also have visited the Odissa, I prefer Dassia personally. They are a great chain, good quality food and drink, as you would expect for the price. I have to say our second visit, wasn’t as good as our first for a number of reasons, I think we were just a bit unlucky. I am sure if you go you will love it OP.

Roselilly36 · 17/05/2024 07:57

IKOS is a Greek chain, NOT owned by TUI at all.

I'm not sure I like that level of service to be honest ..... cleaning your sunglasses 😬... isn't that a bit awkward.

Reminds me of my DD when she travelled first class to the US (through work) .... she said the service was embarrassing. She'd get up to pop to the loo and come back to find her bed all made again. Told the cabin crew it really wasn't necessary but they said they had to do it.

I'm going to this very resort this summer, OP, so I may see you there :-)

We don't normally do AI - not really my thing. but we have been to Sani before and like it and bonus here, Veuve Cliquot is part of the AI offering rather than some bad watered down spirits or cheap supermarket prosecco.

As for whether it's worth £8k, for us it absolutely is, affordability isn't a factor.
But if I put £8k in the "once in a lifetime" holiday bracket, then no, I wouldn't be going for a week AI to Corfu.

OffMyDahlias · 17/05/2024 10:01

Ikos ruined other holidays for me. If you have the money they’re great, and brilliant in the off season as they heat their pools.

I lasted until day three for that very reason then thought f* it

Greyheronsarethebest · 17/05/2024 11:59

surely it depends if you can afford it. I wouldn't pay that ( but simply because I am not able to afford a holiday).

Tangled123 · 17/05/2024 13:02

If I had at least £20k in the bank, no mortgage or childcare fees, and a very good income, I might consider it.

I have none of the above, so this holiday is way out of my price range. I got a week in Rhodes AI in September last year for around a tenth of that though.

JustMeAndTheFish · 18/05/2024 19:45

Definitely not. I spend a lot of time in Greece and would never recommend anyone going all inclusive… there aren’t very many in Greece anyway…. because half the fun is finding a different taverna every night. Why on earth would you want hotel food every day?

I can't imagine thinking anything other than 'fuck off and leave me alone' if anyone wanted to clean my sunglasses for me on holiday.

Likewise I don't particularly care about the decor as we don't spend much time in the accommodation except for sleeping, getting ready and sorting out food.

We live on the balcony/terrace so as long as it's clean, suitably located and the beds are nice, that's enough.

If it was a choice of £8k for nice decor but being pestered all the time and £3k for really nice and being left in peace, I know what I'd choose. You could buy a car for the money left over. Or be a couple of months or more closer to retirement, or pay a huge chunk off a mortgage.

AlleycatMarie · 18/05/2024 22:51

Looks beautiful, I would!

Oh same here. How annoying and servile. Do people enjoy this?

Where are you finding AI for a week for a family of four in the school holidays at £2-3k?

We did 2 weeks in Morocco for 5 of us in August last year for less than £4K. It’s definitely doable if you do loads of shopping around!

@NobodyKnowsTiddlyPom

Where did you stay - please could you tell us the specific resort /riad.
I have also stayed in Morocco and got nowhere near that price for 2 weeks in school holidays. I would love to go back. We were at club med

MyRamone · 19/05/2024 10:32

I wouldn't - as said before, local food is so much better than a big buffet. Also, there's a reason they take their pictures without any people in them... You could get a couple of weeks in Thailand for that (local flights are cheap, as are great rooms & eating out).

You’ll not want to go anywhere else once you’ve had your holiday there. We’ve been lucky enough to travel across the world (New Zealand and Fiji booked for later this year) but for some luxury you can’t beat Ikos.

RosesAndHellebores · 19/05/2024 13:35

At the price point, are these places table service or is the food buffet style as is usual at AI resorts?

Ikos is table service

blue345 · 19/05/2024 19:05

In fairness, there's one buffet but the buffet is amazing too, we're not talking the usual AI slop.

Off the top of my head, the 6 or so restaurants are Spanish, Greek, Asian and Italian. They also do a really nice BBQ with salads for lunch at one of the restaurants and great breakfasts (eggs royale etc). I think they have 400 wines but not sure on that one. You can dine out in local restaurants under the AI package too, there's free Tesla hire, water sports...

It's expensive at certain times but it is very nice.

blueshoes · 19/05/2024 22:52

@MyRamone what is the reason? I was wondering that the place looked bleak rather than inviting, with nobody in them.

FlipFlop1987 · 20/05/2024 08:46

Knew it would be Ikos before I even opened the link. They’re the in place to go on holiday at the moment. Very ‘Insta Worthy’ 😆 personally I’d be going 2 weeks in Maldives child free for 8k. I have family who spend over £5k just for two of them on the Ikos Aria. I think that’s extortionate.
They aren’t for kids at all, there’s one photo on that link with something child friendly for under 5’s but older kids will be bored. Yes there’s a pool but I bet no one actually goes in it. Maybe paddle their feet at the edge.
Turkey combines, huge, excellent hotels with loads for kids to do. Check out Lara Beach

IKOS are known for being extremely child friendly. There are several pools, with plenty of people swimming in them. You're very knowledgable about the hotel brand for someone who has never been.

FWIW I've also been to 5* hotels in Lara beach which are great but IKOS is on another level.

There's free bike hire, adults and kids daily 5 a side football, various organised sports, snorkelling, water sports, children's entertainment, think we also went to a birds of prey demonstration.

My older teenagers loved it. I guess it doesn't have entertainment staff coming round persuading kids to join in but I'm not madly keen on that.

We took DT’s as teenagers - they loved it as do friends with primary age children. They went last year and are going again in August. The pools are well used. I spent hours in them.
