Would you pay 8K for this?

All inclusive for a week in Greece.

I have fallen in love with the place, love the muted tones.

But is any all inclusive holiday for 7 nights worth £8,000? For 2 adults and 2 DC

I spend around £3k and find the places I go are really nice. Would it really be worth the extra £5k?

I don't have that kind of money, anyway Grin but genuinely interested to see if that type of place is worth it when you can go someone very nice for 2-3K

I've been to that hotel and it's worth every penny of £2k per head, especially if that's the price in school holidays.

roses2 · 15/05/2024 14:11

Nope - food at all inclusive is normally shit. Book it all separately and you'll get much better quality for the same price.

For comparison I am going to Florida next week and have booked a 4* Sheraton villa + BA direct flights + Universal + Disney + Discovery Cove tickets + hire car = £9,000 for 4 of us. £8k is not good value for money for what you are getting.

Toodleoodleooh · 15/05/2024 14:11

Ikos is off the scale fantastic and if you have the money it is worth every penny. It is really nothing like a 3k all inclusive and it is hard to go back once you have tried it. The food without exception is outstanding. There is choice of over 400 wines you can choose from, room service is included, the service is phenomenal. All drinks are premium, you can borrow a tesla for the day which is included to explore, pool service is constant

It is ultra ultra 5* yes it is all inclusive and it’s not travelling blah blah blah but honestly, it’s amazing if you want a luxury beach holiday

Clearly you haven’t been. The food is off the scale amazing. It is nothing like a normal AI

Off the scale amazing!!! I mean well there is a scale up but then you’re looking at private yachts I’d say. You’ll love it OP do it!

It is up to each person what is right for them. We have used Neilson before the key issue there before childcare (which is what can make a real holiday or not) although other people will say they would hate not to be with the children 24/7 - so again just a personal choice. https://www.neilson.co.uk/beach/greece

What do people mean by a TUI holiday ? 😆 you know they do all sorts, not just 3* Benidorm right?

Yes I would. Ikos and Sani are an exceptional level of family All Inclusive.

I must be proper, proper lower class Grin because something nice for TUI feels like an upgrade from booking with on the beach etc

If I'm going abroad I want to visit interesting places and eat somewhere different every day. Athens and Crete were both great, but dunno what's close to a resort in Corfu.

I don't really get the appeal of resort holidays abroad where you're just sitting beside a pool or the beach. We've got beaches and sunshine in England. Cornwall or Isle of Wight are colder, but not many thousands of pounds colder.

Maybe I'd feel different if £8k was nothing to me!

PhuckyNell · 15/05/2024 14:25

Yes I would an in fact am going to have a look at booking right now op it looks great!

JaninaDuszejko · 15/05/2024 14:25

Are all 4 of you in the same room? I'd not pay £8K for that.

rwa818 · 15/05/2024 14:39

Personally no because I can't afford that right now, but if I had the money I would love to! Been looking at Greece/cyprus school holidays 10 days AI family of 4 and failing to find anything nice for under £5k (£5.5k is my max budget) for a nice hotel at least 4*, good Tripadvisor reviews.
So £8k seems like the going rate for a 5* with loads of facilities.

Seems like more self catering/half board options in Greece though than say Balearics/Canaries which I might compromise on that if it has a kitchenette and close to restaurants

Dinoswearunderpants · 15/05/2024 14:40

I stayed at the Ikos Dassia (next door). I think I paid about £4,000 for 2 adult sna done DS aged 2. We celebrated his birthday there.

We had several minor issues during our stay however they were incredibly with their customer service and trying to rectify these issues.

It's a lot of money but if you have the funds, go for it.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 15/05/2024 14:41

For 2 weeks of luxury not 1 week though

PrincessHoneysuckle · 15/05/2024 14:42

We had a luxury holiday 5 star A.I last year for 3 weeks that was only 6.5k

Exactly, not getting the tui hate!

We usually do Jet2, package holidays are just so much easier when you're taking kids

Therageisreal · 15/05/2024 14:46

I knew it would IKOS. It’s always recommended on MN but it’s out of my budget.

examsexamsexamsexams · 15/05/2024 14:48

Is that in school holidays? That seems like a 'bargain' if it is. When we I've looked at Ikos resorts they've always come up loads more than that.
In comparison, a week at Neilson etc in Greece in August is about also about 8k for a week for 4 as well.

fivepies · 15/05/2024 14:49

JaninaDuszejko · 15/05/2024 14:25

Couldn't agree with this more! No way would I spend all that money on 1 bed accommodation and have to spare sleeping space with my kids on holiday. Don't adults want privacy?? 🤷

VibeOnWithMyGalPals · 15/05/2024 14:51

Surely it would be cheaper to book direct, and your own flights rather than through TUI?

Iloveburgerswaymorethanishould · 15/05/2024 14:52

Comedycook · 15/05/2024 13:06

Where are you finding AI for a week for a family of four in the school holidays at £2-3k?

Im currently in a 5* resort in Turkey… cos me just under 4k for 2 weeks for 4 of us. Same resort next year in August but for 10 days is even less!! Will be booking the day im
back!! It’s amazing!!

mrsbyers · 15/05/2024 14:54

Nah I’d rather spend the £5k on decorating the house and furniture a week of muted tones vs years

examsexamsexamsexams · 15/05/2024 14:56

The resort in Turkey will be cheaper in August because it's bloody boiling and currently very near a potential war zone. I suspect it's not usually that cheap...

aoirwhklzxca · 15/05/2024 15:00

£5k is my max for an all inclusive as I find I can find what I want for that price, £8k I'd rather go long haul or do something with more sightseeing involved.

aoirwhklzxca · 15/05/2024 15:00

And HELL NO for the same room!

WoshPank · 15/05/2024 15:01

It looks lovely, but no. I wouldn't appreciate the amazing food and alcohol enough. Neither DH nor I are expensive wine drinkers and I tend to want salads and ice creams on a warm holiday. Also agree with the posters who wouldn't want to all be in the same room. I've done that before, and it's not the end of the world, but it needs to be cheaper to justify it.

I can see how if you're not bothered about the room thing and you'll get value from the wine list, it might make more sense.
