Would you pay 8K for this?

All inclusive for a week in Greece.

I have fallen in love with the place, love the muted tones.

But is any all inclusive holiday for 7 nights worth £8,000? For 2 adults and 2 DC

I spend around £3k and find the places I go are really nice. Would it really be worth the extra £5k?

I don't have that kind of money, anyway Grin but genuinely interested to see if that type of place is worth it when you can go someone very nice for 2-3K

No I would not pay that, better hotels in Antalya Turkey, 4/5 star much cheaper

They really aren’t.

Tui do have IKOS but they’re mainly done through their own website, they are very different to the good turkey ones. The only one which might be near it would be Hillside

Moveoverdarlin · 15/05/2024 17:50

I’ve never heard of booking an Ikos through TUI. Didn’t know you could.

SparkyBlue · 15/05/2024 17:54

OP if you have the money and it's something you want to do then go for it. And I hope you really have a fabulous time. I personally hate flying so have no interest in flying long haul so
It's the type of hotel I'd love to stay in right now. Ignore the comments from people basically implying that anyone who likes AI or a hotel complex are a shower of half witted uncultured morons. Those type of comments get really tedious. Just because this year for my holiday I might want to completely chill out and be as lazy as sin doesn't mean I don't also at different times of my life enjoy other types of holiday.

No, I’ve been and the service was an absolute shambles (for the price)

Ikos is an epic brand, and the staff are all so lovely (including at Odisia) but choose one of the more established ones, Aria, Oceania etc

There are very good Facebook groups that will be happy to chat

usernother · 15/05/2024 17:58

I've been to another Ikos. We paid that for 2 adults. Best holiday I've ever had. But I wouldn't go with children. It's wasted on them, and other than the kids club (and beach, pools obvs) there isn't a lot there for them.

therealcookiemonster · 15/05/2024 18:03

having looked at the Google reviews... it looks pretty bad

Chickoletta · 15/05/2024 18:03

‘Muted tones’ 😂

Everyoneisunreasonable · 15/05/2024 18:11

Not been to Ikos but have been to Sani, part of the same group. It was amazing. Walked out of the room, through our private garden and straight onto the beach. Fantastic family resort, nearly 30 restaurants available across the Marina and the 5 hotels. Sunset cruise, Tree-top adventures, Bear Grylls activity including a speed boat ‘rescue’, the White Party and the Chelsea football academy all there too. Won awards as best family resort worldwide.
Cost a fricking fortune but loved it and would go back.

Booked it through jet2 holidays!

dahliadraws · 15/05/2024 18:12

lots of dismissals here about tui- i didn’t know they had this reputation.

can anyone recommend a package holiday company?

KenAdams · 15/05/2024 18:22

We went the year Ikos Oceania opened.

No Teslas back then because they didn't exist. Not much around the resort either.

I paid...£1.5k total for 2 adults and a child.

It was nice but still all inclusive. I prefer going for a little walk and finding little local restaurants instead.

Even when we pay for all inclusive we always eat out locally a few times. Whilst at Ikos we did this and my husband also went out to watch football in local bars.

We spent £8.3k on 10 nights at Club Marvy in Turkey last year. It was OK. The food was really good, the resort was naice and all - but we still had to set an alarm to get up and reserve sunbeds, the flight times were inconvenient (night flights both ways) and overall I don't think we got value for money. All the kids want is a swimming pool and unlimited snacks at the end of the day. It would probably have been a different experience as a couple outside school holidays.

This year we're going on a holiday that costs half what we paid last year, and I'm expecting to enjoy it just as much or more.

£8,500 for 10 nights in Turkey?!

😱😱😱

Ginmonkeyagain · 15/05/2024 18:35

I wouldn't, for £8k I would want somewhere more exciting than Greece (much as I love Greece). Also I am not a relaxing, luxury holiday type of Monkey. Two days in and I would be climbing the walls and organising everyone to climb up the nearest mountain or visit a museum.

Bar the odd spa weekend, hotels for me are just somewhere to dump my stuff, wash and sleep. So no point paying loads.

But if you want a completely relaxing, nothing to do but swim and read holiday somewhere hot and fancy and you have £8k to spare - I say go for it.

GingerHat · 15/05/2024 18:35

We went to an Ikos outside of the school holidays last year and it was ok but not mind blowing. It was our first time AI and so many people had hyped it up but it didn't live up to the hype. Here are some reasons why:

  • we arrived quite late at night with two very tired small kids. The resort was a slightly larger one and no one in reception offered to walk us to our room, we were given vague directions. We got lost twice!
  • no one at check in gave us information about what was on offer at the resort, what the entertainment was, facilities etc.
  • no tours of the resort offered.
  • the room was really dusty, they hadn't cleaned properly.
  • we had a room with a small garden and the garden flooded so we couldn't use it for a day. No apology from the hotel, no what can we do to make things better.
  • the food was not good. They have different cuisines but most if the dishes taste the same. For example, the Spanish, Greek and French restaurants each have lamb dishes but they all taste exactly the same.
  • breakfast - no one ever came to take our tea coffee orders, I had to go up each time to ask.
  • there was practically no entertainment
  • the icing on the cake - we all had D&V a few days before we were due to leave. It was awful.

for balance here are the nice things about the resort:

  • the drinks were nice
  • the pools and beach were nice
  • the decor was nice
  • the kids club was well run
  • the kids loved the bikes and trikes you could use to go round the resort
  • it was fun taking the Tesla out for the day
  • the staff were generally really friendly.

we paid £4.4k for a 10 day holiday. No way would I pay £8k during the school holidays. It's just not worth it unless £8k is pocket change. If it is pocket change then hire a villa with a cleaner private chef and childminder!

Juneey · 15/05/2024 18:35

We found IKOS cheaper through BA than TUI. We’ve been to IKOS Olivia in Sept before DC were school age. Whilst it was incredible and I could not fault it I could not pay the amount it costs for peak prices, plus I no longer want to share a room with my child (no partition etc). The larger rooms are ££££ I’d also prioritise the length of holiday- a week doesn’t cut it!

I’ve had to lower my expectations but one day, hopefully, we’ll be back

Elphamouche · 15/05/2024 18:39

For an IKOS, yes that’s a really good price.

Meggriffinshatsmells · 15/05/2024 18:40

I travelled half the world for that, so no.

All inclusive is my idea of hell though, I’m a travel wanker.

alpinia · 15/05/2024 18:43

Ikos resorts are fabulous. If you are looking for a week of total relaxation then they work well. They are some of the best AI resorts available, I've been to a few on large family group holidays and every time we choose a non Ikos or Sani we always say next year we are going back to an Ikos.

If AI resorts are not your thing then you probably wouldn't enjoy it even if it was free, and you could spend the same money on a completely different type of holiday which will also be really nice.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 15/05/2024 18:48

i just looked up the price for us 4 (adults) and it would £17,200 for a week at end of July. With Easyjet. 😂Er, no thanks. We paid not much more than that for a once in a lifetime 3 week road trip to California, with business class flights coming back.

tocrocornottocroc · 15/05/2024 18:48

I work for a travel agency and can confirm that this hotel is a VERY good standard. If it was me id definitely go. I'd fully recommend!!!!

Frangipanyoul8r · 15/05/2024 18:52

Looks pretty beige and boring.

ConsuelaHammock · 15/05/2024 19:03

Holy moly!
https://www.jet2holidays.com/greece/halkidiki/sani/sani-beach £28 k for two adults and one child!

Taxingtaxhelp · 15/05/2024 19:13

Comedycook · 15/05/2024 13:06

Where are you finding AI for a week for a family of four in the school holidays at £2-3k?

Salou

Shittyproblem · 15/05/2024 19:19

I had D&V on a Tui plane after a Tui AI holiday when I had only eaten their food & drink. And another person as well.
They refused to accept any responsibility when I complained, but of course proving a negative is impossible.

There are better ways to spend £8k
