Thanks for the continuation..

Given the current state of the conflict I don’t have much to contribute ATM but nevertheless do appreciate the continued updates.

MagicFox · 09/05/2024 13:33

You certainly do, we're always coming to you with military qs!

Hi all πŸ‘‹

Arconialiving · 09/05/2024 13:39

Checking in as I always seem to lose these threads & whilst I have nothing to contribute, I very much appreciate the update given it slipped from the main news, & I keep my family & friends updated based on info here.

Positivethought · 09/05/2024 14:00

Sincere thanks to all our knowledgeable contributors for their continued updates and the sharing of their professional expertise. I also share what I learn with my family and friends.

I’m enjoying that Putin has zero significant victories for victory day. Between that and the single sad tank at the parade have made my day!

Unless they involve mud. Notim does sky, I do mud. 😁

Placemarking by mentioning Steven Seagal Shock

I saw him on the one of the news items about Putin's inauguration, telling either Steve Rosenberg or the Sky reporter to "educate himself as to how good Putin was" Hmm I genuinely thought it was a Russian Orthodox Church Patriarch - he's enormous (both height and width) and looked like he was wearing fancy dress (like a cleric's robes). Shock

Februaryfeels · 09/05/2024 15:45

How sad that we're at 49.

DesdamonasHandkerchief · 09/05/2024 19:02

Checking in - thanks to all the contributors, but particularly Ducks & Blueshoes for the daily updates.

MagicFox · 09/05/2024 19:15

Oh wow thanks @heldinadream - that is pretty depressing! I thought we were quite visible in chat and constantly active

Well the alternative explanation is that some people are a bit dim and unobservant.
Which couldn't possibly be the case, could it? Human race being what it is and all? πŸ™„

MagicFox · 09/05/2024 19:18

What it does underscore is the point I made on the last thread about how important it is that the public are made aware of what Ukraine means for Europe, of the need to get behind an increase in defence spending and of the threat landscape that will impact those who conveniently "move on to the next news cycle", as one of those posters put it, if Russia isn't stopped in Ukraine

Checking in and taking bets on 0.5 million Russian casualties by the end of May.

DucklingSwimmingInstructress · 09/05/2024 19:52

Oh yeah, and Russia is plotting sabotage across Europe - from the The Financial Times European intelligence agencies warn that Russia is planning violent sabotage acts across the continent, committing to perpetual conflict with the West

Plus trying to interfere in the US election.

Russia has also tried to create strife around Kate's recent illness, and has amplified the tensions with Muslim people in France.

Ukraine is where the Russian knife meets European flesh, but there's a tornado of malice behind that knife and it's not only aimed at Ukraine.

DucklingSwimmingInstructress · 09/05/2024 19:52

wrong thread, ahem!

A soldier with actual combat experience is commonly referred to (at least in the US Army) as a "muddy boots soldier".

A 'muddy-boots soldier' who understands his troops

Profile: Gen Tommy Franks: He collects antiques, likes country music and eats Tex-Mex food

@MissConductUS lol at 'muddy boots soldier'. It is an apt description. Thanks for sharing about Gen Tommy Franks.
