Making a new 70s playlist for Spotify, but lacking inspiration. If I Google best songs from the 70s I just get lots of good big hits, which are not always, y’know, good music.

So far I have some Bowie, Led Zeppelin, The Jam, The Police, Cat Stevens, Fleetwood Mac, The Jacksons, Siouxsie, The Clash and others.
looking for good songs of all genres, forgotten gemsâ€Ļ even cheesy pop if it’s good.

What are your 70s favourites? 🙂

When I Need You - Leo Sayer
Amoureuse - Kiki Dee (so fucking sexy - although as a 12 year old I didn't appreciate it!)
The Slade ballads - Everyday and How Does it Feel; surprisingly still good.

You will be able to share it, but be careful as it will probably have your name on it too. I know we are amongst friends, but don't inadvertently give private details.

Yes, Spotify isn't really anonymous, is it? If I can be bothered, I'll set up a new free account and make and share it from there. Watch this space.

Your suggestions are all great, everyone, there are very few that I don't like. Thanks again.
The playlist will be very long... difficult to add just one or two songs from some artists who had loads of great songs!

I was born in 1969, so just a child in the 70s. My parents were young and very cool though, so had huge record collection, there was Radio 1; and Top of the Pops was a family event for everyone then, I think. Music on all the time. It was an awesome time to be a child.

Up the Junction by Squeeze was the first record I bought & I still love it.
It was on lilac vinyl!
Brilliant song, great storytelling from the brilliant team of Difford & Tilbrook. Jools Holland was still in the band at that time too.
I loved Cool for Cats as well, so cool!
They were always so good on Top of the Pops.
