Back in the day

Iloveyoubut · 28/04/2024 17:38

‘Talk to me about’ as in ‘talk to be about your favourite air fryers‘ for example. Hate that, you’re not a celeb 🙄

MaidOfSteel · 28/04/2024 17:40

Call out/calling out/called out. I loathe this phrase so much!
Season instead of series (as in TV)
Can I get......? Ugh.
Passed. What's so awful about saying died?

TigerRag · 28/04/2024 18:04

Kindly. It sounds so patronising

FurQuenelle · 28/04/2024 18:13

Cringe/cringey (sorry @muddyford :-)).

Gifted (instead of the perfectly adequate "gave").

Boobing/boobed. 8 year old boys used to giggle when typing "boobies" on a calculator. Actual adults using the word to refer to breast-feeding is horrible.

Calling people out - what does this even mean? I always get the old Ricolo (?sp) advert in my head with the yodellers in the Alps.

minthybobs · 28/04/2024 18:16

I also hate “It is what it is”- yes we fcking know that. No one thinks “it is what it isn’t” do they? 🙄

Windysquall · 28/04/2024 18:17

‘At the end of the day’

lemonyellows · 28/04/2024 18:17

Going forward - so falsely positive as though the passing of time guarantees progress

Here to slay
Living my best life
Being my authentic self
Hun, babe or similar
Hubby
Hate meaning someone disagrees with you rather than it’s correct meaning

SleepingisanArt · 28/04/2024 18:33

@Diamond007D - we use 'picky bits' when referring to the snacks our grandparents (who would be well over 100 if still alive) used to serve us and refer to as such. We also use 'mains' but after a lifetime in hospitality its habit and we'd never use in outside our immediate family! I'm with you on cheeky wine! Wine is a very serious subject as far as I'm concerned!

olivebranch31 · 28/04/2024 18:38

Cuppateatea · 28/04/2024 17:16

We’ve done …. The Maldives, Asia, The Aurora, rather than we’ve been to (or on)

Use your words - when said in a patronising way to adults who are too shy/unsure to speak up about something.

Yes, I hate this too. It’s so annoying and usually a boast.

I did Europe. No you didn’t, you saw/visited a few of the many countries in Europe and saw a small part of each of them. You have not “done” Europe.

tobee · 28/04/2024 21:44

You've got this! (And worse) you've absolutely got this!

Corporate bollocks speak:-

How is that landing?/how are you landing?
What are the learnings?
What are the gains?

We were just talking about this at dinner tonight

Fiery30 · 28/04/2024 21:49

See you later/see you soon- to a stranger, for eg., in a shop
