I am using advanced search a lot these days

On this and bot posts
Has anyone else noticed their posts being repeated, point for point, phrased slightly differently and with terrible grammar?
I keep having it happen. Edit to say not under this name!

I also keep seeing people saying things that normally you'd put an exclamation mark at the end (very obvious turns of phrase) without and otherwise poor grammar- complete lack of humour or emotion. They are quite easy to see as AI or bots but this is surely a new level if they are picking up themes and "interacting"?

DuncinToffee · 30/04/2024 20:55

I haven't noticed the repeating thing fabio, will keep an eye out for it.

Indeed

This is somebody who had a UK asylum claim heard (and rejected) and then was offered a voluntary relocation for cash, to Rwanda.

Rwanda involved for comms purposes of sending someone somehow

UK-Rwanda scheme is an enforced removal scheme instead of hearing asylum claims in UK

So he knew he couldn't stay in the UK, had already has his claim processed and denied and felt Rwanda was better than going back to where he came from, so he went voluntarily with a cushion of cash?

That is not how the scheme will work for others, is it?

Sorry, cross posted with @DuncinToffee !

cakeorwine · 30/04/2024 21:20

Will Sunak tweet this and will it be community noted?

bombastix · 30/04/2024 21:22

This is all done in time for the elections. Who knows, maybe a few people will think it good but the coverage in the Mail is quite scathing in tone.

UK deports first ever migrant to Rwanda in breakthrough for Rishi Sunak | Politics | News | Express.co.uk

The report says the unnamed migrant lost a bid to stay in Britain at the end of 2023, with the individual voluntarily accepting removal to Rwanda.

While the surprise news may provide Mr Sunak with a boost ahead of the local elections, the deportation was not forced as part of the government’s flagship plans set to come into force later this Summer.

The man, of African origin, voluntarily accepted the deportation deal, and was deported on a commercial flight and handed around £3,000 from the taxpayer to help him relocate and settle.

UK deports first ever migrant to Rwanda in huge breakthrough for Rishi Sunak

It's been reported this evening that Britain successfully flew its first-ever migrant to the African country.

A willing deportee found just in time for the local elections, eh. How convenient.

How long before a thread pops up on here?

Quite.

A very expensive pre election gimmick.

Nice to know taxpayers money serves to pay for a pre election gimmick.

Notonthestairs · 30/04/2024 21:27

Argh, so tired I'm repeating myself.

Edited

Maybe Rwandans will come for cash and a free lift home?
(Sorry, could't resist a cash give-away joke for a party who always accuse that of Labour)

Q: do we know who flew him???

According to BBC news just now, he didn't even arrive here on a small boat.

He'll also get the 5 year package of support & accommodation.

😂at he didn't even come here by boat!

I assume the Govt had to inform the "commercial airline" that they were carrying someone being deported...I wonder if the airline will be named? I was under the impression none of them would touch it with a barge pole for obvious reasons. Just before summer holidays too! Risky.

DuncinToffee · 30/04/2024 22:32

Is someone really being deported when you pay them for it?

2 mayoral elections that have gone under the radar a bit, East Mids and North Yorkshire

https://x.com/LukeTryl/status/1785408728914681911

So potential for two Tory incumbents on West Mids and Tees to hold on, but in two new mayoralties - East Mids and North Yorkshire Labour win big. Would mean A) incumbency matters a lot in mayoral races B) non-incumbent races are matching the national polling.

My suggestion for a title

Sunak: Seriously Scapegoating

fabio12 · 30/04/2024 23:25

Sunak : PIP payments lose out to Cameron's private jet and Rwanda, but will it win them votes?
