New thread. I took the liberty - the old one was at 999!

I'm on some of those benefit claimants threads. They are mostly not going the way Tory supporters would enjoy, which is a good thing.

I get the impression there are more comments along the lines of “Claiming benefits a cushy number? Go ahead and give up your job then, see how true that is” than there used to be, which is nice.

IClaudine · 21/04/2024 17:51

I used to like him, but the way he treated Orr was dreadful and put me right off him. Has anyone read Motherwell? I really recommed it.

TheABC · 21/04/2024 17:54

Given the way the NHS was funked on their watch and CAHMS broken, I hope not!

When I think of the Tory party, I feel disgust. They are venal bunch of self-serving liars (in some cases rapists) who can't even be competent enough to cover up their corruption. They have left the country in a worse state than they found it. My opinion of Labour is low - I will be happy if they just stop the rot - but its going to take some effort to sink lower than the current lot.

Sadly, it looks like the Lib Dems are likely to win where I am. At this point Lord Buckethead has a better grasp on reality than they do.

Yes. There a few of the "my neighbour boasts about how much they get whilst working on the side" types, but a lot of people are seeing through it.

Sunak is running out of scapegoats and squirrels.

Piggywaspushed · 21/04/2024 17:55

I really didn't like Motherwell. Can't remember why now.

"The Quantity Theory of Insanity" is a modern masterpiece

And really everyone in FWR should read "Cock and Bull".

Just read a synopsis of C&B and ordered it instantly. Thank you for the recommendation.

The perennial debate about artists and art, I'm afraid.

Let me know when it's solved.

Saucery · 21/04/2024 17:56

I did like Motherwell, yes. She was a great loss to writing and to feminism.

I loved it! She said a couple of things I didn't like much, but on the whole I enjoyed it.

That'll be when the human race dies out, probably!

I loved How the Dead Live. Couldn't get on with the book of Dave.

Piggywaspushed · 21/04/2024 17:59

I've just found the review I wrote on 50 Books. I come form near there and I think I was just maybe a bit underwhelmed. More or less the same time I also read 'Maggie and Me' which is a diverting memoir of growing up in Scotland.

You know you are running into trouble when even the innumerate are smelling a rat around numbers.

Report rather than letting the thread derail

Report what exactly? How illogical and misguided people are?

How dangerous it is to wrongly accuse people of anti semitism?

All evidence of no anti semitism at all is in this thread. So call the police see how you’re wasting their time.

One will also see, if one were to read and understand the posts, rather than flounce about calling anyone who doesn’t agree with you a Tory, that nowhere do I say I’m ‘a Tory’.

As I said before no wonder Labour are so pitiful, if this is an example of any attempt at comprehension.

Yes they are not losing in the polls, yes I expect they Will not lose the election (though not by as great a landslide ‘win’ as some seem to think). However this is only a symptom or consequence of the Conservative Party being so awful. Nothing at all to do with Labour. That is what is pitiful.

Meanwhile it looks like even if the Rwanda bill passes, the flights may have to go empty

Me and my boys will go if he gives us £2million each.

IClaudine · 21/04/2024 19:01

No one mentioned calling the police, lion. Calm down.

We don't need to report you for the 'hairy bollocks' comment. I think we made our objections quite clear to you.

😂 I love that people have repeated the words hairy bollocks so often since I first wrote the terrible words Hairy bollocks. Never have hairy bollocks been so popular.

You don't have to mention it, the right-wing tendency for hyperbole on this site has reached stratospheric heights recently.🤯

RafaistheKingofClay · 21/04/2024 19:23

Have we discussed the fact the Rwanda is probably on the brink of a war with DRC. I know we’ve passed a law to say things are safe even if they aren’t, but I think even this government might draw the line at sending people to a literal war zone.

Or I hope they would.

My dad read it. I made him laugh by presenting it to him using the tongs. Goodness, I do miss him.

Oooh! DF is coming up next weekend - that has given me an idea!!

Show me right wing hyperbole please? I’ve definitely seen a lot of left wing hyperbole.
