Using salt would just get rid of the bastard slugs, so doing everybody a favour in the long run really.

But this would get rid of the good slugs too if you did that [Some only eat decaying vegetable matter, and some are cannibals].
And make anything that ate slugs very poorly.

How do you tell the difference?

There was an old sci-film called Them! that featured giant man-eating ants. Any chance that the OP could get hold of some of them?

If Babs has even a sprinkling of common sense (big if, I realise) any anger or bitterness about the reality of the situation will hopefully be directed at Sally, who is the sole cause of all of this bollocks. She’s done both Babs & garage neighbour dirty by failing to recognise her legal obligations when she decided to sell.

editing to add I see many , many people have had similar thoughts about St Marie. Low visa requirements. High gun crime.

Perhaps one of the other plot holders could be a retired copper Ted Hastings.
Though I'd like Gene Hunt to be in it somewhere - the allotment site manager or a local councillor who also happens to be Bab's son.
Now that could provide another plot twist if you pardon the pun.
