@Sittingsewing I didn't know it had been made into a tv show episode! I was picturing the story in the Roald Dahl book Kiss Kiss. Some very good stories in that book.

Jax10168 · 14/04/2024 23:04

James Cosmo for your FIL?

It was first a story written by R. Dahl and then shown on the Alfred Hitchcock Show. It is truly the perfect crime.

The Hitchcock episode was so good! A leg of lamb sure beats using a baseball bat. Plus, the swinging of the leg of lamb upon a hard surface tenderizes the meat. 😉

Having looked on IMDB I’ve never seen anything Sam Heughan is in

Outlander, well worth a watch, bar some painful to watch scenes when he’s ‘captured’ by a nasty army guy, hard going.

Could Mark Bonnar play your Dh? Or Ian Glen? Brian Cox for your fil!

How about your man from Line of Duty? Bit young, but he is fab!

DisabledDemon · 15/04/2024 00:25

There must surely be a place for David Tennant? Is the garden shed actually the Tardis?

And Babs is The Rani?

Howabout a tomahawk steak? I mean, there must be a reason that it's called after an axe.

Is it a mumsnet pattern or am I just getting deja vu? A thread that spans multiple threads with a 'drama' and we start getting suggestions of making it into a show or movie and then the songs and poems come? I feel like ive read very similar before.

Well, tomorrow we should hear the solicitor's opinion, which should generate another episode.

I should just go with the flow and have fun along with the rest of us.

Mysteriously the OP usually has a very similar writing style, too. Make of that what you will :)

I saw Rory Kinnear in a film called Man Up that made me think of garage thief - he plays a bit of a dimwit weirdo, which sums up garage thief quite well

If you ever want to bleach your eyeballs catch Rory Kinnear as the PM in the pilot of Black Mirror. disturbing but brilliant.

DH is Scottish and he has a brother that looks like the back end of a bus 😂 please no one suggest David Tennant for anything, what an annoying man. It might be too small fry for James McAvoy who is now a Hollywood big wig. I can’t think of any other Scottish actors in their mid-late 40’s who don’t irritate me!

Im not sure Douglas Henshall would be old enough to play FIL I’m actually surprised he’s 58 😱

David Tennant annoying? Eh?

Can't find original post 😭

There are at least two links on it on this thread.

Not one for Rory Kinnear I think, good actor that he is.

Deathraystare · 15/04/2024 08:22

@Nanaof1

My colleague and I were talking about that leg of lamb murder the other day!!

MyPurpleHeart · 15/04/2024 08:46

I'm so shocked by the people telling you to let her keep it. You should let someone you don't know have a plot of land you have just bought because they like it? Sorry what?

AbbyBradley · 15/04/2024 09:09

Following.

CaveMum · 15/04/2024 09:36

Good luck with the insurers today OP!

Yes definitely so. I wish I could find one of the other posts but the whole set up reminded me of a couple threads ive read in the past, like you say, so similar in writing style, set up and the show suggestions (which stretched it out to thread 3 so far!)

I doubt this OP is a storyteller unless she has gone to MASSIVE trouble with the setup. In the first thread it is mentioned that she is a long term member and has talked previously about moving. Yes CF threads often morph into pitches for movies and so on.

I’m afraid you’ll have to spell out for me what you mean. Which other thread am I accused of whatever I’m being accused of?

Anyway TINY update: I managed to call the insurers in between working, mumsnetting and nursing a 7 year old who, 2 minutes before leaving for school, vomited all down the stairs 😭

Luckily we are covered what with the plot being part of the title deeds, but we have to use their solicitors and not our own. I have a telephone appointment on Wednesday with a “specialist solicitor”.

I asked about getting legal support for the fact Sally Seller made a misrepresentation in the conveyancing process, but because this is part of an existing legal issue it’s not covered and I’d have to go back to the conveyancing solicitor. I’m waiting to hear from them anyway about what her solicitors say, assuming they will even get back to them.

I was gonna nip down today for a nosey but the weather is absolutely shite and now I’m chained to the house due to poor DS. Seriously considering hanging up on of those cheesy signs on the shed that says “<DH name>’s allotment” 🤣

BusyMummy001 · 15/04/2024 11:50

@YaMuvva hope your DS feels better quickly and it is nothing major!

Goodluck with the insurance solicitors - hopefully they will be quick on the case. Or Sally Seller will get spooked when your solicitor contacts her and call her dear friend to beg her to get off the plot pronto.

YaMuvva · 13/04/2024 20:21

FWIW I do NOT get a kick out of the thought of taking someone’s sanctuary away from them. At all. However i have explained why we have taken the selfish route, wether people think our reasons are justifiable or not is not really my concern

Well you are doing a good job of hiding it.
Seems like you are getting a great deal of enjoyment out of being ‘right’ and dissing someone older than you.
I assume you have the secret of eternal youth op?

Oh give over@Fairyliz 🙄
Babs isn't some impoverished old lady with nowhere to go. She's a wealthy entitled person with a side gig which involves squatting on someone else's plot of land!
Piss taker extraordinaire!
