What is the MOST irritating thing on Mumsnet?

I saw someone mention that something was “high on the list of most irritating Mumsnet things,” but I couldn’t find a post discussing that list. And now we have polls, I thought it might be interesting, especially “other” stuff.

A bit niche. But I spend a lot of time in the education boards, and "A-star" typed as an asterisk instead changes the formatting to bold. I'm used to it by now, but even so!

There is 100% a strong anti men sentiment thriving on this site. Believe me, if you were male you’d notice it a lot more.

I understand why comments minimising abuse are unwelcome and that women might prefer a “safe space” to discuss this, and I usually don’t even consider engaging.

But in general there is a widespread disdain for men on this site, and it’s often quite irritating to read. We are parents too, and we try our best, need some help at times, and we aren’t all useless abusers. Yet threads proclaiming that MN is a network for “women only” are a frequent occurrence with a lot of support. It’s really not nice and the equivalent of getting suspicious looks when I wait around for my daughter, and all people see is a single man standing near a playground.

I agree with this , so many times you see ltb if he has gone out for a few beers but women go out and what's more their DPs should drive them the and their mates to each pub / restaurant

Women defending the right to their own spaces and their own sports is not "transphobic".
I like the way that on MN most women would not put the needs of men and their choices above the safety of women.

But that is not what people are saying is irritating.

The ‘D’ prefix. I think it’s dated, twee and irritating. It was undoubtedly useful back in the day before smartphones to use the quicker ‘DH’, but now? It’s just daft. And when posters use it for everything - ‘Dcat’, Ddog’, ‘Dnephew’…WHY? 😤

I hate this too for all those reasons , twee, dated, cringey, copycating to feel included, just write the full word!

The judgment

The smugness of some posters, like they think they're so high and mighty

Fuck off.

People who come onto threads about celebrities and TV shows to say they have never heard of them. It's just a way to try and claim some superiority over us low-brow plebs, and I know it's probably coming from a place of insecurity, but it just makes me roll my eyes.

People that are unable to use paragraphs.

It is difficult to read when it is all produced in a block!

Eye colour threads.

Some sections seem to have been taken over by Tory HQ. They've become an echo chamber.

Jumping on advice given by other people without giving any advice yourself.

Posters who don't come back to the thread. Especially irritating if you've offered a lot of information or support.

The hatred of men and being accused of being a man if you offer an alternative opinion. I've been accused of mansplaining!

The amount of women who have automatically shouldered everything regarding the house and childcare.
