I've had my eye on these for a while, and found it on Vinted, a king size one. It's only 10.5 tog, so I'm hoping it's going to be warm enough (I'm in Scotland).
I feel very excited at the thought of potentially not having to change my duvet covers again.
And it fits in the machine for washing!
Please share my excitement. I don't even care that my chat is so sad Grin

Oh amazing, let us know how it is OP!

Boredmum24 · 04/04/2024 13:44

We've done the same and think they're great

QuillBill · 04/04/2024 13:45

I can't! I don't get it. My granny had eiderdowns and I remember when I was about fifteen she got a duvet and a duvet cover first the first time and she was as thrilled as you are now. Then, she was even MORE excited when my dad pointed out that she could get two different duvet covers for her one duvet.

I loved mine but when I washed it it came out so creased that I couldn't bear to put it back on the bed.

I have sleepynights coverless duvets. So much easier, I love them.

TheTimeIsNowMaybeNow · 04/04/2024 13:46

I've had mine since Christmas, I bought them for the dc as well 🤣

This one is from the Fine Bedding Company. I know they're decent because I got my daughter the single version a wee while back. It comes out from the wash looking perfect.

But then you have to wash the whole duvet instead of just the covers? And whereas you could probably fit 2 or 3 covers into a single load, you can only do one load at time by washing the whole thing.

All that extra energy consumption from the washing machine and inevitable tumble dryer use to get it dry in time for the same evening. Greta won't be pleased.

MetalFences · 04/04/2024 13:50

Greta won't be pleased

In fairness she never is.

I don't understand why they are so good. Where do you keep them all? I've got a massive house but I don't want four duvets in the cupboard instead of four duvet covers.

pinkspeakers · 04/04/2024 13:53

Wouldn't that take up an awful lot of space in your washing machine? Not to mention the drying...!!??

JulesJules · 04/04/2024 13:56

I bought one of these for D1 when she went off to university and she loved it. The washers were big capacity so it went in with her weekly wash and dried really well. Saved time and faff changing covers. I got it from John Lewis.

notafraidofthebigbadwolf · 04/04/2024 13:56

Yes, I'm afraid I put a duvet cover on mine so that I only have to wash the cover! I put that duvet cover in with the rest of the sheets, otherwise, as OP said, it's an extra wash. But I guess I like it that I've got a king sized duvet that will fit in the washing machine for a spruce up twice a year...

I know! I'm just warning others...

I don't even own a tumble dryer. The beauty of the thing is that they're quick drying.
And I'll be sure to put it on an eco wash. Y'know, for Greta.

I love mine but sleep under a sheet with the duvet on top so mostly just wash the sheet, not the duvet.

I don't intend to have a spare. Wash and dry on the same day.

Do you think it would dry completely in a day in the winter months?

JMSA · 04/04/2024 14:08

@Shinyandnew1

Absolutely. I can spread it out on my Lakeland heated airer (don't necessarily even have to switch it on). And I have a dehumidifier in my home anyway.

I love mine! It's this one https://jysk.co.uk/bedroom/duvets/fibre-filling/fibre-duvet-200x220-langlitinden-warm-dbl

Washes and dries quickly, is warm, and is great for on the couch too! I use a sheet under it and just change that once a week. So much easier than fighting with covers because I have a bad shoulder!

Yes, my actual duvet is embarrassingly grubby Blush
The only option round here is to take it to the manned launderette or drycleaner. Both options aren't much cheaper than a new duvet!
I'll spot clean the old duvet and donate it to an animal charity, as I hate things going into landfill. My duvet covers will go to the charity shop too.

Flossflower · 04/04/2024 15:50

Have I got this correct. It takes the place of a sheet and duvet. So you have to wash it every week.
