I’ll start with Ryan Reynolds. He honestly seems completely down to earth, responsive to his fans and likes to have a good joke at his own expense

Christian Slater was honestly very kind. He randomly helped me out more than once.

Juliet Stevenson. She's the queen of everything in my opinion.

I misread your post and thought you were referring to Geri Halliwell's sleazy husband Christian Horner Grin

Finleysmom84 · 04/04/2024 12:58

Davina mcall
david Beckham
Ricky gervais
cillian Murphy

JKR, Stacey Solomon, Stacey Dooley, Fiona Bruce, Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, Cher.

Julia Roberts is known to be not very nice and there are some actors who have said they would never work with her again.

Chinuplippyon · 04/04/2024 13:03

Suppose it depends on definition of good people..

if you mean 'unfailingly pleasant to every single fan who approaches them when not working' that might be a different set of names to 'has stuck their neck out for a controversial cause they've believed in'.

I think JK Rowling and Paul O'Grady have gone above and beyond sad faced TV ads for gay and women's rights respectively, especially P O'G during the HIV epidemic when he could have been putting his own life at risk for all he knew at the time (he wasn't based on what we know now but he was brave not to put his faith in conjecture about how it was spread to try to reduce stigma and prejudice). No idea how they are/ were in company.

Paul McCartney seems to have quietly done a lot for animal rights. I don't expect he has always been perfect re his ex wife but I like his attitude and inclusiveness to new audiences. Obviously incredibly musical guy but a down to earth pop artist at heart wanting to keep bringing people in rather than disappear into super obscure experimentation. Not that there absolutely isn't a place for that but I like the joyfulness of his enduring new music. Not stuck in his past superstardom (rolling stones) but not shutting it out either.

Delia Smith seems a good sort. Teaching people the basics, not judging those brought up on convenience food who can't boil an egg.

Anna Kendrick seems to be a nice person too

There are many, many stories out there about how rude she is to the general public, waiters, shop assistants etc.

Totally agree with this. I know George had his problems in later years but all the stuff that came out after he died about what he did was just so heartwarming. And not even ‘just’ giving money away - he actually went and helped at soup kitchens and homeless shelters and made people keep it to themselves.

And yep, the same with Paul O’Grady. I don’t know as much about him as I did George but I always loved watching him. He seemed like someone you could sit and put the world to rights with for hours on end.

There was a great documentary on him when he passed away "Paul oGrady". There was another one on the other night about Lily Savage. Both itv I'm pretty sure

"For the love of Paul oGrady" is the one I watched after his passing. Keep the tissues handy. Such a lovely man..

The Lily Savage one was great too.

Esther Rantzen

She was apparently an absolute horror!!

Linedbook · 04/04/2024 13:17

Rylan always comes across as throughly warm and decent to me. People often make assumptions based in his look and accent, which infuriates me.

Lion400 · 04/04/2024 13:17

Ones whose actions (many of which aren’t / weren’t publicised) speak louder than any words

JKR
Paul O’Grady
George Michael
Ricky Gervais
Dolly Parton
Keanu
Cold Play (donate a good % of all of their earnings)

I’m sure there are others whose philanthropy we don’t know about.

We def can’t tell anything else from how famous people ‘seem’ on tv. They seem nice but that is their job. To act, to make people buy into them and like them.

Agree with pp about heavily curated images. Def Ryan Reynolds, Julia Roberts etc etc. The fakery is off the scale.

That’s why I like Hugh Grant. He’s a grumpy miserable twat and he knows he is. Doesn’t try to hide it.

Ricky Gervais -anyone against animal cruelty gets my vote.

I agree with this.
I love when celebrities use their voice for good.

peloton2024 · 04/04/2024 13:18

Phil Spencer. Always polite and pleasant

FrenchandSaunders · 04/04/2024 13:18

Oh yes, love Rylan
