I’ll start with Ryan Reynolds. He honestly seems completely down to earth, responsive to his fans and likes to have a good joke at his own expense

exactly - The Stranger Beside me is an amazing book written by someone who sat next to Ted Bundy at work!

Fred West was supposed to be a nice man, very good in his last job at doing jobs for elderly clients of his boss, the elderly clients loved him,

There's plenty more where that came from 😆

OMG my ears and my eyes!

I love the flight attendant story here...

https://popbitch.com/black-out/

Yes, she was extremely well-known for being horrendous to everybody - especially those she considered subordinate to her - when off camera.

Any celeb can have an off day - and I agree that they don't have to be effusively friendly to everybody who stops them in the street at all if they want to be left alone - but for some, like Cilla, Anthony Cotton, James Cordon, Chris Tarrant and others, their reputation very much goes before them.

MaybeRevisitYourWipingT3chnique · 07/04/2024 03:21

I never understood why Cilla was lauded for her singing. Yes, she had a very strong voice, but so did Margarita Pracatan!

It was OK-ish when she sang quietly, but the tone when she switched up a gear into her normal 'loud mode' was terrifying. I'm sure nobody ever mistook her voice for Tina Turner's!

When she was young, she had a clear and fresh voice which was actually pretty good. As the years passes, she lost it, maybe due to smoking or drinking, but there’s a definite decline over the years as the voice gets harsher.

We used to call my Nan Margarita Pracatan😂

Was just typing the exact same thing 😂😂 I can’t believe these are real and I’m not having some sort of mental breakdown.
Why was an older lady dancing with all those kids? Why did she invite them to party all night long whilst showing them the door? The way she obviously shrank away as they shimmied a bit too close to her 🙈😂 you could hear her mentally saying “ewww” if they got too close. They all looked so depressed.

And in the boxing one, the guy up against her was clearly questioning his life choices as he half heartedly lumbered in to the middle of the ring. I can’t compute it all 🤣🤣

missl1 I agree with you about Liam Gallagher. I've met him quite a few times (my ex has worked with him) and he's always been the same.
Funny, down to earth, very friendly, and generous. Always got the drinks in, just a genuinely nice lad.
I've also met Noel a few times. You never quite knew 'which' Noel you were going to get. Sometimes he was fine, sometimes he wasn't.

Liam and Noel are both frequently mentioned as lovely in real life when there are no cameras on them. Noel is more grumpy so more likely to catch him on a bad day but then he is the awkward middle child. Bonehead I think is a sweetheart, so many people have nothing but positive things to say about him.

littleburn · 07/04/2024 11:52

Not sure if he's been mentioned yet, but I do have a soft spot for Jack Grealish. Obviously there's the usual footballer cheating stories, but he's absolutely lovely with disabled fans and children. Very natural, warm and kind.

IPartridge · 07/04/2024 12:01

I think someone already mentioned Kelly Holmes.

I started following her online during lockdown and joined in with her workouts and bonkers dance nights. Knowing now how much she was struggling mentally, makes her generosity and kindness even more special.

JKR, Stacey Solomon, Stacey Dooley, Fiona Bruce, Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, Cher.

I read that Julia Roberts is a complete bitch!

Waspalert · 07/04/2024 12:17

Ugo Monye. Not only does he campaign tirelessly for women in sport, but he is a lovely, generous, down to earth guy.

No idea what GC means but yes I am a regular person and despise JKR for her transphobia and fuelling hate. Yes.

@NK572a3d19X11e7ef5ddf9 You really need to get your facts right before spewing hate at a fantasic role model for women and girls and a feminist heroine as big if not bigger than Germaine Greer. All she has ever done is advocate for women and rape survivors like me, to have safe single sex spaces. That's all. All she said is women are oppressed based on our sex, we need to have the right to define ourselves in order to be able to defend our rights, and that women deserve and need sex-based rights, boundaries and protections. She ALSO said trans people deserve protections. So what the heck is wrong with that? Most people who say they disagree with her have never even read what she actually said. They just rely on third hand info from someone else who twisted what she said. That is way not ONE (1) of them have EVER been able to provide anything she has said that is even remotely transphobic when asked. 'google it' to avoid providing proof is not an answer, just an admission you got nothing.

Yes, Julia cheated with Danny Moder who was married to Vera. Julia was seen in town wearing a tshirt with the slogan Alow Vera written on it. (a low Vera) to taunt his wife.

I didn't know that! I thought Andy Murray was the only sportsman who ever stuck his neck out for women in sport.

Daley Thompson has also been outspoken about protecting women's sport (which would have made the teenage me very happy - I had a massive crush on him back in the 80s).

It's always nice to learn there are more decent men than you thought!

The questions upthread about what exactly she's done or said that's transphobic has still, as ever, remained unanswered.

Well, what a surprise, eh? 😂

Plus she bullied her half sister into an early grave. An ugly person inside, if not out*
*I've always thought her massively overrated as a beauty. Her teeth are horrible and there is just something off about her whole vibe.

Just goes to show - had total opposite experience! Would have been so disappointed!

I've met Martin Kemp and got the twinkly eyed flirtatious treatment, but seeing as I was at an event he was paid to attend, I guess he had to be polite to all of us middle-aged women swooning over him.

WendyMAD · 07/04/2024 17:29

Wynne Evans, the Welsh tenor who plays Gio Compario in the Go Compare adverts, is really nice. I met him several times when he lived near a relative of ours in Cardiff, and he was always friendly and kind-hearted.
