You're coming to my house for dinner. What do you want to eat?

There will be plenty of booze and it won't be fancy. I'll have about an hour to cook and bugger all time before to prepare in advance. Oh and you're family so I don't have to 'impress', but I want it to be lovely too!

Fajitas or chilli and nachos

Lunabetty · 03/04/2024 20:59

Baked feta pasta 😍

ExcitingRicotta · 03/04/2024 21:00

Steak, good salad and wedges

HundredMilesAnHour · 03/04/2024 21:00

Lasagne with a green salad. Ideally followed by tiramisu but you'd need to make that the day before (so get someone else to do it).

MyLadyTheKingsMother · 03/04/2024 21:00

Steak, jacket spud and sour cream, peas, diane sauce. Ta love!

Vettrianofan · 03/04/2024 21:02

Steak and onions

Mintearo7 · 03/04/2024 21:04

Pasta carbonara

Sleepygrumpyandnothappy · 03/04/2024 21:05

An hour isn’t very long to prepare. Do you genuinely have no time in advance? Cooked meat stews etc can sit for several days in the fridge. You can’t do a lasagna from scratch in an hour but could have the ragu prepared and assemble/back on the day. Ditto stew and make mash, or turn it into a pie…

Pinkpinkpink15 · 03/04/2024 21:10

Do you have a signature dish?

Do you cook any 'foreign' food?

Do you cook anything vegetarian that I've previously enjoyed?

@Keeprejoining

posset has to be my most hated word, even worse than moist & gusset.

Bought in pizzas and salad is fine!

Home made pizza if you can be bothered. Dough doesn't take long. Or buy a packet mix and make that.

Otherwise, chili or spag bol.

crummyusername · 03/04/2024 21:14

Spag bol with garlic bread yum
or a risotto with salad…?

OddBoots · 03/04/2024 21:15

Pan fried salmon with buttered new potatoes a couple of different salads.

SkaneTos · 03/04/2024 21:15

I agree with @NCForQuestions !
Bought in pizza, or homemade pizza!

rainbowbluepurple · 03/04/2024 21:16

Chilli with all the trimmings, guacamole, salsa, sour cream, tortilla chips, rainbow slaw, range of hot sauces
OR curry as above with various pickles etc
OR roast chicken, massive salad, good chips, homemade Mayo/ aioli
cold beer
some nice sorbet for pudding with berries

CarrieMoonbeams · 03/04/2024 21:17

Cauliflower cheese please, with roast potatoes and veg. I don't have a sweet tooth (or indeed a sweet nature!) so I'm not fussed for dessert. Berries and yoghurt though if you insist. Thank you.

BakewellGin1 · 03/04/2024 21:18

M&S Pizza
Steak, veggies, peppercorn sauce and onion rings
Lasagne and Garlic Bread

Easipeelerie · 03/04/2024 21:18

Rib of beef, goose fat roast potatoes, veg, good gravy, a lemon tart and a chocolate tart from m and s and several bottles of very good red wine.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 03/04/2024 21:20

I want a charcuterie plate, a cheese board and some lovely bread. With some wine.

I may not be a cheap date, but I'm a straightforward one 😉

chillywaters · 03/04/2024 21:20

Cheese board to go with the booze, presuming you will have wine

NahNeedsGarlic · 03/04/2024 21:25

I would be happy with bought pizzas and salad, plus wine. Ice cream for dessert.

Theimpossiblegirl · 03/04/2024 21:25

I'd be happy with a cheese/charcuterie selection, or a takeaway.

Mumaway · 03/04/2024 21:26

Thai curry and sticky rice, then something chocolate for pud

TitaniasAss · 03/04/2024 21:27

I'm shit at cooking steak so that's out, but fajitas with all the tex mex nonsense could be a good shout and quick too. AND ahem I make my own fajita seasoning. 😇. It'll be biscoff cookie pie and ice cream for pud because it's my sister's favourite and, more importantly, she's bringing it. 😀
