What's one thing you do in your adult home that your parents didnt in your childhood home ?

have shoes in a room rather than the stairs

Use the tumble dryer and dishwasher! Never understood why my DPs had them to not use them.

Get my boiler serviced every year.

Let my kids chose when ever they want to eat. We had to ask to go into the cupboards or fridge and food was heavily restricted. They had money they just didn't want to buy food so made it last.
My kids are really healthy and I make sure they can pick what they like. I also don't stick to one dinner at meal times. Most nights we cook 3-4 different dinners. I try and have it relaxed when it comes to meal times.
We was always fed one option if you didn't like it that was that. For me food is there to be enjoyed and explored with. If I don't want to eat something or don't like it. Why should I force my kids to get on with it? But that's just us.

I eat food on the sofa. I enjoy it twice as much because it was verboten when I was little

Let my children into my bed if they are scared or want a cuddle during the night :)

Drink booze most weekends.

I also am happy to make a second meal if my children don't like the first thing. It's no Biggie.

Eating on the sofa. Playing music out loud. Going to bed really late. Staying in bed until late morning.

Take the piss out of each other and swear. We only swear descriptively or jokingly: not aggressively.

Redecorate, new kitchen, new bathrooms. My parents and friends parents did none of that and they were all well off.

Have furry pets. I wanted a cat (and currently have three), my brother wanted a lurcher. We were allowed a budgie.

Have a TV in the bedroom.

Care about my children.

Oh and yes we have a cat - I was never allowed one as a child!

(But only now my DC are adults. They swear too)

@Hungrycaterpillarsmummy I wish my mum did. We used to be so hungry as kids. And so many things would be burnt or cooked wrong too. To be fair they was always drunk so explains a lot.

Have a microwave and mobile phones, but don’t have a landline telephone or tv.

Wear PJs in the evenings.
