He has been made unwell by a takeaway that he ate late last night and is concerned that I am not checking on him often enough. He has limped all the way downstairs to tell me this.

Oh god, get out now, run!

Zimunya · 02/04/2024 17:32

Agree with @YesThatsATurdOnTheRug - LTB now! Demands for cool cloths applied to his face, concerned check ins, and endless cups of tea will only increase as the day / night wears on ...

Dearg · 02/04/2024 17:33

I will pray for you Op 🙏

reallyworriedjobhunter · 02/04/2024 17:33

I have to cook dinner for the kids now. After I might start a full declutter of the house so that I am definitely busy.

Dinner out, sneak a bag into the car, you and the kids head for your mums for the week, it's the only option 😬

reallyworriedjobhunter · 02/04/2024 17:34

I do have a piece of IKEA furniture in the boot of the car that I can get out and use the instructions as a kind of talisman to ward him off. It's one of those little trolleys. If only I had a 5 x 5 Kallax.

Got back from Mum's yesterday which I suspect has contributed.

He’s ill for god sake, have some sympathy!

reallyworriedjobhunter · 02/04/2024 17:37

Kids are trying not to make eye contact with him.

Looking forward to what will be a funny thread I am sure, I would have to say to him, if you feel you are genuinely at risk of dying then call for help otherwise stop being a baby and get on with it.

He is clearly trying to make sure you never leave him to go anywhere again.

ClawdeenWolf · 02/04/2024 17:39

I say you take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

I would but it's entirely self inflicted. He skipped dinner and then ordered himself the filthiest kebab he could find on Just Eat.

Only one thing to do IMO…

reallyworriedjobhunter · 02/04/2024 17:42

He has shuffled back upstairs with his head slightly tilted to one side.

That's not self inflicted. He's eaten a takeaway which is pretty normal every now and again. You don't need to bow and scrape to him but what harm would it do to be nice to him (and to not post about him condescendingly online).

Hatty65 · 02/04/2024 17:45

Send him back to bed with a pint of water and tell him he'll be fine. He can't eat for 24 hours, just water. Tell him to keep filling his pint glass during his trips to the loo, if he's ill from a takeaway. He doesn't need you to check on him!

Then pour yourself a large glass of something and order a takeaway for you and the kids.

Beaverbridge · 02/04/2024 17:46

This is so funny, I can actually picture him!!. If he reappears a swift boot between the legs should see him off.

Don't be a spoil sport. We're having fun.

Coincidentally, I’m currently Dressing Gown Of Doom in our house, and DH actually did build a 4x4 Kallax yesterday. He is however a massive DGOD-er when the mood takes him, and a CHRONIC elevenerife-er about illness in general.

reallyworriedjobhunter · 02/04/2024 17:47

Because this happens so often. He is always incapacitated with something and therefore unable to do things.

Most days, despite also working full time, I have to fit in all manner of things because he is unable to.

At the moment it's doing the two separate school drops offs because his ankle feels stiff. Every bloody morning.

DCat has gone up to sit on the end of the bed and stare at him.

Ask mnhq to edit your title op.
It needs capitals..
The Dressing Gown Of Doom. . Surely?
Maybe The Slippers Of Shuffle also?
Ime help him toddle off to bed. Insist he needs his bed..
And then forget about him. Works a treat ime.
