He has been made unwell by a takeaway that he ate late last night and is concerned that I am not checking on him often enough. He has limped all the way downstairs to tell me this.

He has shuffled back upstairs with his head slightly tilted to one side.

Glad the little lamb has managed the stairs without any help. Hand hold for you OP.

Codlingmoths · 03/04/2024 23:38

Crutches for his birthday or Christmas as you know how terrible he’s been feeling not being able to do the parenting.

I'm lying in bed laughing at "Here we go" 🤣

Me too! 😂

Bobbotgegrinch · 04/04/2024 00:31

To ask a stupid question @reallyworriedjobhunter , why are you still with someone you clearly absolutely hate?

I can't understand how people get to this point.

It doesn't mean that you hate them - just that you occasionally want to wring their necks.

The works. The voice, the sighing, the little arms and tilted head.

Oh dear, not the tilted head? Has he started gazing off into the distance yet as if contemplating his own mortality whilst declaring he's had a good life?

Sorry about the screen time. The stiff ankle is a long running thing. I blame his mother for all of this btw.

Whoops I misquoted - was referencing the various doom esque items ending with the underpants (definitely a stopping point!)

Ha ha when you all put it like that 🤣🤣🤣I had images of those items being thrown down as a 3rd alternate reality in the Barbie movie…

SplendidUtterly · 04/04/2024 02:21

Men like this give me the ick. Giant toddlers. You might as well put a nappy on them and stuff a dummy in their mouth.

LindaMo2 · 04/04/2024 08:30

Surely he’s on 24 hours of water only? Enjoy the extra portion (or freeze it for another day) 😉

Owl55 · 04/04/2024 10:56

Be aware at some point he will come downstairs , sit in a chair with his head back and close his eyes! This is a very dangerous time for you as he will expect you to wait on him hand and foot, tread carefully!

ConsistentlyElectrifiedElves · 04/04/2024 11:10

I get this occasionally from DH.

"You never show me any sympathy". FFS you've got a cold, which you'll get over in two days, but not before you've given it to me and I'll have it for 2 weeks. No, you're not getting any sympathy.

Followed by:

"My Mum was always sympathetic - she used to listen to me and make me feel better". No, DH, DSIL has told me that she used to say about how much you go on, but just never said anything to you about it, because she had far, far more patience than I do!

DH realised he was being a diva when I was chatting to our hairdresser one day and moaned that some antibiotics I'd taken had given me thrush and he said "you never told me about that" and our hairdresser said "well, us women tend to just get on with things without moaning when we're ill"! 😂

He needs this.

@MrsMoastyToasty you win the Internet today 🤣
This has made my day!!

I say you take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Love this!

Panjandrum123 · 06/04/2024 23:44

@reallyworriedjobhunter thank you, this has thread made me laugh when I needed it. I hope it is a good long while until DH’s DGOD needs to reappear and his stiff ankle improves. 💐

Goodtogossip · 09/04/2024 14:20

Casually ask him where the life insurance policy documents are as you want to check how much he's insured for. Let him know you're thinking of upping the payments in case he takes a turn for the worst. (or you throttle him coz he's doing your head right in).

DisabledDemon · 09/04/2024 17:40

I haven’t got a DGOD but do have a chest infection so have taken refuge in the Cardigan of Collapsed Hopes and the Sweat Pants of Sadness. I am coughing up loads of gunk, though, so I have tangible proof that I’m sick. 😷

Can you speak? I had similar the other week and my voice went awol for four days, not even a breathless whisper.

I have a croak, which is vaguely sexy until I start hacking into tissues.

Sounds similar. Fresh lemon juice and honey with hot water helped. And someone sent me some propolis ( bee pollen) throat lozenges which also helped. If you dm me your address I am happy to send you some to try.

That's not self inflicted. He's eaten a takeaway which is pretty normal every now and again. You don't need to bow and scrape to him but what harm would it do to be nice to him (and to not post about him condescendingly online).

Get a grip, it's light mumsnet humour

Thank you. I’ve been on the hot honey and lemon (even more effective with added whisky).

Oddly, I don’t have a sore throat - it’s just that my chest is so bad, it’s affecting my voice.
