Please Help the toilet is blocked

Tried plunging it with 2 different plungers and it's totally blocked the plungers aren't working and poured hot water down. My Dad has tried plunging it too and said I'll have to get emergancy plumber out. I'm so embarrased. Is there a better style plunger that anyone knows that I should be using? I'm so embarrased having a plumber come in to our blocked poop toilet even though that's what they do. Any one have any advice what I could do please to unblock it without getting the plumber out.

I bailed out the water like a few of you said then it just blocks up again. @Pollypocket81 I wrapped a binbag around my hand and arm and stuck it down that didn't work either

Any success hun

Still blocked. My Dad has tried with the pipe coil too and it didn't do anything but he didn't want to lift the outside drain either to look in it so I'll have to get someone to do that in the morning see if the drains are blocked. I think a few people have mentioned a 2 ltr bottle of pop cutting bottom off and using that as a plunger but I only had 1 ltr bottle of pop and didn't do anything for me. What a night with my toilet situation thankyou to everyone who's offered help on here.

Have you got a wire coat hanger you can unravel and push round the U-bend? Usually works for me.

Dreamer2027 · 01/04/2024 21:32

@MumblesParty might sound strange but I don't have any coat hangers we don't have any wardrobes in my house so I don't keep coathangers sorry I think a few others might of mentioned for me to try that too on my post but I don't have any. Thankyou

Wire coat hanger has always worked for me in the past.

Same here. Never fails!

LIZS · 01/04/2024 21:50

Any neighbours who might have a drain snake or coathanger?!

Lanneederniere · 01/04/2024 22:05

Have you checked whether the blockage could be further away down the exit pipe than your toilet itself?

Our idiot next door neighbours flushed all sorts away resulting in a blocked main exit pipe for six houses.

They then let their next door neighbours pay for DynoRod who had to come out and blast it out, after which everyones' toilets returned to normal service.

Sorry if this has already been suggested, but your description of what's happening is the same as what happened to our toilet.

MaidOfSteel · 01/04/2024 22:11

I know it's not much help to you now, but I always keep a couple of these in the house for exactly this problem.

@Dreamer2027 Have you established whether the blockage is in the toilet or the outside drain? Get outside and lift the manhole cover to see if the drain itself is clear first.

If the drain is clear, you know it must be in the toilet. When you stuck your hand in, what did you feel? You literally need to get to the back of the pipe with your hand and pull out the obstruction. And yes that might mean lifting out clumps of wet shit into a bucket.

I've always found the wire coat hanger works a treat as you can bend it around the curve in the pipe. If you make a hook in the end, you can drag out the obstruction especially if it's mostly toilet paper. Ask all your mates if they've got one you can borrow... although they won't want it back!

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 02/04/2024 08:45

Dial a rod told me once that before you call them out, you should get an old fashioned mop (the sort with the white stringy head) and bash it into the loo. I've found it works almost always.

Okayornot · 02/04/2024 09:41

Get one of those plungers as someone linked above, block all other drains and sinks (put plugs in or cover them with some thing) then plunge the loo vigorously, repeatedly- think 10-20 goes. It may take several rounds of this for the blockage to clear. This honestly works- a plumber recommended it to us when he couldn't get to us for a few days. But you do have to be surprisingly firm about it to disclose blockages further down your stack.

Dreamer2027 · 02/04/2024 13:43

Update the drains were blocked outside. Thankyou for everyone who replied.

Get a mop and tie a plastic bag over the head, use that to do some vigorous plunging. Then pour a bucketload of hot water down.

Was just going to suggest this. Worked for me.
