@VerlynWebbe I love the idea of your tiny white houses 😍

I just really love making things as a wind-down (I'm not a telly person) with an audiobook on. Such a cheap hobby. I give them to my friends. When I was a kid, my grandparents used to have a whole collection of miniature things that we played with, just little ornaments. I can't even remember what we did with them, but I remember the feeling!

Gettingonmygoat · 02/04/2024 10:04

My teddy bear fleece duvet set and sheet, they came to a grand total of £17.95 in the Dunelm half price sale. I can't believe how much i love them.

HelloClouds · 02/04/2024 10:19

Pale blue and yellow primroses from the garden centre.
Lamy Safari pen
New watercolour sketchbook
Holland and Barrett yoghurt bananas
Roger & Gallet shower gel.

Lovely thread! I looked up the Kew soaps and was sidetracked by the fabulous botanical prints they sell!

Clarinet1 · 02/04/2024 11:47

I’d agree with lot of these but my top choice would be a clarinet reed! In fact a box of 10 is, I think, around the £20 mark!

I have that kettle and it entertains me too!

do you have a link please? I would love to buy it.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 02/04/2024 12:14

I can't recall the make but green glitter wool socks (cost £13).
Large Original Source Mango shower gel
Doisy and Daim Double Ds.
Kettle Chips chips
Have gone off candles as I have too many.
Anything from a couple of local gift/vintage clothes shops in my area, there are a few where me and SIL go and last time we went to buy a birthday gift for her SIL, we went to one and got everything (Vardo), we just picked up a candle, posh chocolate, and something else which I can't think of, including a card! I might as well say the other one too as it's where I got my socks and some trendy socks with stripes for said birthday SIL who's notoriously fussy to buy for (plus some posh chocolate):-

My koala hot water bottle belt that I got for my birthday. Perfect for period cramps or just cold days working from home!

Spent £3 on 3 bunches of narcissi from Marks, stuck them in a big jug: wonderful.

The Purdy and Figg spray concentrates are about a fiver each, and all smell great. It doesn't last (unlike they try to tell you) but while you're doing chores it's delicious.

DAS air-dry clay is £4 or something like that and I am making little houses, which I'll paint white. Tiny ones. Very therapeutic!

Love the idea of 3 bunches in a beautiful, old jug. It's the optimum number of flowers for impact, and nothing can beat daffs / narcissi for value. They are the only flowers I buy. (I don't bother in summer time, as I get cut flowers from the garden)

I've got some of that clay. My intention is to use it over the remaining Easter hols. I was going to make small bowls for salt and pepper, chilli flakes etc. I am intrigued by your houses, though and would love to see them.

A bottle of red wine and an evening to myself with Netflix

@CatLevelCare what long handled spider catcher do you recommend?
I'm now buying one after seeing these are a thing!
I have found brush ended ones, flat catcher ones and vacuums

Tia x

One like this from amazon. It doesn't hurt the spider, but holds it securely while you put it outside.

Daffodils. My DH buys me a bunch every time he sees them in spring.

House plants. I just love nurturing them and swap cuttings with friends for free.

Fish and chips at the seaside watching the tide come in and listening to the seas gulls.

The first cup of coffee in the morning in summer when everybody else is asleep.

My grandbabies giggles/ laughter. The sound of pure happiness and childhood innocence. Nothing sounds better.

Finding sea glass on the beach. Saving it into a little jar on the window ledge.

Soap on a rope

LanahLane · 02/04/2024 16:04

Packets of seeds
Houseplants

ProjectsGalore · 02/04/2024 16:29

Ooh I love these threads. I get absolute joy from a 99p bunch of daffodils at this time of year. I've also just got some yellow sticky things for my houseplants that catch those little fruit flies.

Oh, I actually do love 99p daffs too!

Another one - seeing the latest Egyptian goslings in a local park with a lake - one couple had only 3 bless them and the other couple had 7. Adorable little things.

Getting a freebie hot drink at Waitrose with a small purchase or a cheap one at Greggs/McDs.

My cat.

Grumblevision · 02/04/2024 19:07

The newest installment of Murderbot. The e-books are pricier than most but they're so worth it.

happytobemrsg · 02/04/2024 19:26

A house plant in a nice pot (unfortunately I have to have artificial as I kill everything) 🪴

Dimmable table lamps when it’s dark instead of the “big light” (I’ve bought some beautiful ones for our bedroom for £15 from Ikea recently)💡

serin · 02/04/2024 19:27

Iknownothing · 02/04/2024 20:14

Bamboo socks
a hot bath in the dark with candles
a new book
a takeaway

CarrieMoonbeams · 02/04/2024 20:26

You know what @Iknownothing , I have literally never thought about having a bath in the dark with candles lit! DH bought me a bottle of the Neom Scent to Sleep Magnesium bath milk a couple of weeks ago because I've got the most dreadful insomnia just now, and I've never used it as our bathroom lights are so bright 😂😂. Good God, what an arse I am 😂😂.

I'll try that tomorrow night with a Woodwick candle crackling away.

ZebraDanios · 02/04/2024 21:12

@greasypolemonkeyman My Dad calls sea glass mermaid’s tears, which always makes me even happier when I find a piece!

A bath in the dark is wonderfully relaxing as is one during the day when the house is empty especially in the summer when you can have the window open.
