Mine was the disappearance of Madeline Mccann in 2007 - I was 10

Now I feel old.

John Lennon being shot, I think I was about 9 and remember Dad coming upstairs to tell Mum.

I feel even older - it was the moon landing!

I remember James Bolger's murder. What struck me was I was 8 or 9, so about the same age as his killers, and I knew it was so wrong - just because they were children didn't mean they didn't know what they were doing.

Freddie mercury dying. I was 10.

Princess Diana dying.

The Dunblane massacre.

Lockerbie. It devastated me.

Hillsborough - shocking it took so long for the victims to get justice

moon landing. then Watergate. But then nothing until Faulklands war - I didn't pay much attention, obviously

Ethiopia Famine report. Michael Burke I think: absolutely heartbreaking. I was about 5.

George the 6th dying in 1952.

Phew. Someone else around my age. This is mind too.

The raising of the Mary Rose in 1982 - I would have been nearly 5.

Elvis dying. I was very small but I remember my parents watching the news coverage and everyone outside Graceland. 1977.

Valley Parade fire

Kings Cross fire. DM commuted home and sometimes went through Kings Cross. DDad and I stayed up very late, terrified. Pre mobile phone and she struggled to get home because all the lines out of London were in chaos.

MS Herald of Free Enterprise disaster in 1987. I would have been around 5 at the time.

John Lennon being shot. I was 6. My parents sort of looked at each other, with what seemed like a weird amount of distress for someone they didn't know.

A few years on, I heard Kurt Cobain had died, while they were driving me back to university, and I got it.
