It's Count Binface/Lord Buckethead for me. I don't think he could do a worse job than his predecessors.

We are not allowed to call racists racist, it upsets the little snowflakes.

Of yes I forgot silly me we have to pretend the passionate distain for him personally is purely about his politics

Re violent crime vs speed limits. Similar numbers of Londoners lose their lives annually to murder as they do to road traffic collisions so I dont think one should be prioritised more than the other. Tackling speeding seems a simple solution and also generates revenue so can’t see how it ‘takes away’ from initiatives on eg knife crime.

As someone said above, tackling the underlying causes much more effective - poverty, hopelessness, lack of opportunity, increasing inequality on one side and car dominance/dependence on the other.

Saying it’s crime v speed limits is a very binary way of looking at priorities. Budgets also exist for schools, libraries, parks, leisure centres, housing, youth provision, arts…

Crime has fallen in London under Sadiq Khan and you are less likely to be a victim of crime in London than the national average. Here’s a fact checker.

https://amp.theguardian.com/uk-news/2024/feb/26/fact-check-has-sadiq-khan-really-overseen-a-surge-in-london

‘According the Crime Survey for England and Wales, someone is actually less likely to be a victim of crime in London than they are across the country as a whole. In the capital, 14.9% of people experienced a crime either to their person or their household in the year ending September 2023, compared with 15.7% nationally.

The murder rate in London has also dropped in recent years. Early figures suggest 110 murders were recorded by the Metropolitan police in 2023 – broadly in line with 2022. That’s down from a peak of 153 in 2019, and is also lower than the 120 recorded in 2015 – Boris Johnson’s last full year as mayor.

While London’s knife crime figures are relatively high compared with much of England, the capital is not the worst area when it comes to stabbings. NHS figures show that in Cleveland and the West Midlands police areas more hospital admissions for stab wounds were recorded than in London when compared to overall population sizes.’

Fact check: has Sadiq Khan really overseen a crime surge in London? | Crime | The Guardian

Capital’s mayor is often accused of allowing crime to soar, but Guardian analysis shows reality is more nuanced
