It's Count Binface/Lord Buckethead for me. I don't think he could do a worse job than his predecessors.

Given that Khan has stuck to ULEZ despite all the crazies and reduced air pollution more than any other policy in the last 100 years I think he deserves more time.

But has he in all honesty

The underground is not a good place for healthy air

IsadoraQuagmire · 30/03/2024 14:46

I'm voting for Susan Hall. I despise Khan and there's no point in voting for any of the other candidates, though there are several I might vote for if I thought they'd have a chance of winning.

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 30/03/2024 14:48

Khan.

mynameiscalypso · 30/03/2024 14:48

Sadiq Khan. Definitely. I think ULEZ is a good thing as are free school meals. I think the latter is so significant.

Really? More than the Clean Air Acts? I very, very much doubt it.

Darker · 30/03/2024 15:00

ULEZ makes me think of this cartoon…

We want clean air and dirty cars.

So who do you want to be the next Mayor of London?
LittleWeed2 · 30/03/2024 15:03

Crimes seriously bad - am surprised anyone thinks Khan is good.

Don't be ridiculous. The clean air acts made the difference to London air. Expanding ULEZ has made zero difference to air quality in the outer London boroughs but has added carbon to the atmosphere in terms of cars scrapped whilst still functional.

Its also a completely regressive tax which hit the poorest and shift workers (often the same people) on the back of a fuel crisis, inflation, increasing interest rates and hardships from covid. Khan could have diverted some of the money wasted on middle class gesture politics to support the poorest families replace their cars or postpone it for a year to give them more time - that is what I would have expected from a Labour mayor who had the interests of working people at heart.

I campaigned for Khan ten years ago, with slightly less enthusiasm five years ago - this time I'm not voting. Khan will win because the Tories don't care enough to stump up a decent candidate and campaign but I wanted a Labour mayor for all Londoners, not just the Islington set.

Definitely Khan. I love that he powered through the ULEZ - this is the kind of pro- climate leadership we need.

He has also done wonders for cycling infrastructure in London. It's so much better now than it ever was before. Has made a big difference to my daily life.

Zoe Garbett (greens) seems pretty good too, but I'm not sure she would stand up to the Tories in quite the way Khan does.

100% agree. My lived experience is that he’s improved my life.

AuntieSoap · 30/03/2024 15:09

Khan. I like clean air, thank you.
And anyone who blames him for crime in London needs to look at Tory central government funding cuts which have decimated children's services, mental health support, social housing and pretty much every other social and public service, which in turn has led to increased levels of crime. That's the root cause. So get the Tories out.

WhatsTheUseOfWorrying · 30/03/2024 15:09

I’m not against proper measures for combatting pollution. What’s difficult about ULEZ is that it hit some people massively, without any substantial benefit. I suppose the second hand car dealers must love it though.

Why can’t all this wait for 20 years until electric cars are the norm?

I hope that Khan gets elected again.

SophiaElise · 30/03/2024 15:15

As I did in the previous 2 elections, I'll be voting for Sadiq Khan.

Oblomov24 · 30/03/2024 15:16

encouraged

Yes. Khan is a shoo-in. London is a Labour city. Johnson was unusual in that respect, helped by facing Livingstone. But the problem of feel-good, middle class gesture politics is emerging.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 30/03/2024 15:19

It's all gone downhill really since Dick Whittington, and what with 10 Downing Street pinching the idea of having a cat...

Lord Binhead looks good a choice as any when alls said and done.

DataPro · 30/03/2024 15:19

Khan. One of the first things he did as mayor is give the go-ahead for disability friendly initiatives in the local rail and tube stations that our local residents had been campaigning for years for (don't support Labour but he's one of the good ones who genuinely wants to improve lives for all).

I hope Khan gets in again, there's going to be nothing like watching racists and racist apologists lose their mind if he gets in for a third term and they'll go around throwing around words like dictatorship and islamists 🙄

Knife crime, drugs, acid attacks, gangs, terrorists, ULEZ, Met police failures, and that is your go-to?

User135644 · 30/03/2024 15:21

Should have been Lozza.

The city is lost to violent crime. Khan is woke and soft.

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 30/03/2024 15:23

I’d rather vote for Binface than that mad Hall woman.

SouthLondonMum22 · 30/03/2024 15:25

Khan again for me.

Medschoolmum · 30/03/2024 15:25

Can't believe that people are mourning the absence of Mr Fox from the ballot. Who would vote for someone like that?!

chocolatemousse3 · 30/03/2024 15:29

As a cycist that had a permanet sore throatfor years due to pollution, I think ULEZ was the best thing that could possibly happen to London. I understand many people can't afford a new car but it amazes me that most can't see it was necessary.
Also surprise me the level of hate Khan got. Boris was awful and didn't hear half as much!
