Just our of interest really.
Ours is up 4.75% this year, not unexpected in the current climate but this is the lowest it's been in my area for 10 years, usually 4.99%
We pay for greens bins separately, do you?

4.99% - but so far we still get our green bins emptied for free. Our is v low- we pay £126 a month now over 12 months of the year - others are much higher I know. That's the full charge for 3 adults- no discounts or benefits.

LorlieS · 27/03/2024 23:44

Ours is now around £230 p/m (12 months) which is absolute madness Privately rented property as we can't afford to buy, despite both working, and this cost means even less chance of ever being able to!! Depressing as we're 42 and 48 now! 😞

13.6%, thinking of paying it over 12 months instead of 10.

Devilsmommy · 27/03/2024 23:52

4.6% pay £167 a month over 10. When I moved to this flat 15 months ago it was £130pm over 10 months. It hurts

MyMotherMyDogAndClowns · 27/03/2024 23:52

4.7%, and we pay an extra £64 a year for our garden waste removal.

murasaki · 27/03/2024 23:54

5.2%, most of which is the London charge. But as it was 15% last year, I was relatively happy when I opened the envelope. £9 per month extra so doable.

fluffycloudalert · 27/03/2024 23:59

Can't remember the house one, but I just got the business rates bill at work and it has gone up by over 10%. Eyewatering.

Wow that's alot!

5.7% - includes our London Borough charge and one for Greater London. Allows me to splutter at two sets of incompetents.

Green bin extra, but we do get efficient weekly waste and recycling and we have good libraries. ( And that’s as far as my praise goes - the council is full of useless ‘initiatives’ that are all self congratulation and no substance. )

£270 a month for 10 months of the year. Strange system- not sure why they do it like that.

It does feel like we're paying more for less. The roads in our area are shocking and most need resurfacing. I don't mind paying but if I see something for it

4.99%. We’re in a relatively high band for our actual income and it’s a lot extra per month, it feels like.

You can pay over 12 months if it's easier, we do. 2 weekly waste collection in my area

ButterflyKu · 28/03/2024 00:07

How do you work out the percentage?

I live in a really nice area so fortunately I do see it but we're a 1 low income household, I'm a sahm and it just feels like alot to bump up

It's in your council tax bill, ours arrived today

OP posts:
BringMeSunshineAllDayLong · 28/03/2024 00:10

Ours is 11.5% but tbh ours is stupidly low thanks to a twatty conservative council who prided it's low council tax (and equally low services), despite having lots of well off areas.

Crikeyalmighty · 28/03/2024 00:18

Around 6%

No increase. Scotland.

LorlieS · 28/03/2024 17:56

Looking at all.of these, I want to know why we appear to be paying so much?!!! £2762 total 😞

Meadowfinch · 28/03/2024 17:59

3% which equates to £72 a year Pay £86 for a green bin.

I'm surprised it's that low. I was expecting 5%

BlueThursday · 28/03/2024 18:04

No increase same as pp being in Scotland so will no doubt be in for a massive shock when the rise does come.

So it remains £309pm which includes water but the LA is introducing a separate charge for garden uplift and switching to every 3 weeks for general waste collection

StirringUpHatred · 28/03/2024 18:07

I live in a bankrupt council area so we got the extra special 10% bonus with the added benefits of no more public loos or any other "non" essential services.
