Just our of interest really.
Ours is up 4.75% this year, not unexpected in the current climate but this is the lowest it's been in my area for 10 years, usually 4.99%
We pay for greens bins separately, do you?

It's an extra £10 a month so £262 per month (over 12 months).

Whattobakeiwonder · 28/03/2024 18:11

2.9%
I was expecting more.

Coldia · 28/03/2024 18:14

4.8%

Like the rest of the country, I received this particular tax bill just days after the tories telling me they were cutting taxes. I guess for tories it makes sense - CT has little to do with ability to pay, so it means us plebs are hammered more when it goes up while the ones who actually have money feel it less. Bastards.

BCBird · 28/03/2024 18:14

Up by 3%. Band B 1785.02. Have you pay 50 something extra for green bin.

GiantRoadPuzzle · 28/03/2024 18:16

vodkaredbullgirl · 27/03/2024 23:47

13.6%, thinking of paying it over 12 months instead of 10.

Think you must be in the same county as us, also 13.6%.

DonaldDuc · 28/03/2024 18:20

I find the differences in payments much harder to stomach than the percentage increase for the year. Why should I (in a small northern town) pay much more in council tax than someone in London whose property is worth 3/4/5x mine

ShanghaiDiva · 28/03/2024 18:25

4.9% now £3800 per year - south west
does not include garden waste bin

Bluevelvetsofa · 28/03/2024 18:35

Ours is £320 a month- for very little. Garden refuse bin is nearly £100 a year. We need to move, but can’t.

Bearygummies · 28/03/2024 18:37

Increase of 4.9% ! As well as rent increase of about 8%.

Tarantella6 · 28/03/2024 18:38

Ours is over £300 a month and the green bin is extra. It is insane and I try not to think about it too much.

Snowpatrolling · 28/03/2024 18:41

Mines gone down by £11 a month! Very surprised, I’m in the south west.

4 different areas merged into 1.

Ours has gone up by 5%
We pay separately for green bins.

I don't understand how they are worked out. The average for Wandsworth was under 1k per year!

CeeJay81 · 28/03/2024 18:59

More than anyone on England cause in Wales they can charge what they want. The county council said 7.5 % recently but it's gone up more than that. Got the letter today.

Dacadactyl · 28/03/2024 19:00

Ours has gone up exactly 100 quid a month, so 1000 a year (we pay over 10 months)

Thehooligans · 28/03/2024 19:02

£0 as in Scotland. I would rather an increase so they could provide better services with it.

Tarkan · 28/03/2024 19:08

Same here. We're £1242 for the year and pay weekly since DH is paid weekly and that's easier for us. We pay over 10 months so first payment is £12 then it's £30 a week after that.

I honestly wouldn't have minded a small increase if it meant better services but they're planning on taking away doorstep glass recycling and putting lots of neighbourhood bottle banks around town. Not exactly easy for me since I have mobility issues and DC have to put the rubbish and recycling out for me as it is. I don't fancy them having to walk along with bags of bottles and jars to wherever our local one will be.

Bluevelvetsofa · 28/03/2024 19:09

It’s an inequitable tax. It takes no account of the number of people in each household using services and there’s no correlation across the country for the different bands. Someone in a different authority with a house of similar square footage, could be paying half what we are. I’ve no idea why we are the band we are either.

user1497787065 · 28/03/2024 19:09

£360 per month over 10 months

Tanaria · 28/03/2024 19:19

4.7% more. Works out as around £15 extra per month (discounted).

Which doesn't sound like much, but when everything else goes up, too, it's a bit shit.

PuttingDownRoots · 28/03/2024 19:32

5% overall.
Parish Council was 6%.

Due to the oddities of the system we are counted as Band A, so its only £112 a month (total, not increase!)

baileybrosbuildingandloan · 28/03/2024 19:41

£169 over 10 months. Inner city terrace.

Hibernatalie · 28/03/2024 20:59

Over 8%

Blackcats7 · 28/03/2024 21:08

4.91% plus if you want garden waste bin and collection it’s an extra £95 a year.
