Just our of interest really.
Ours is up 4.75% this year, not unexpected in the current climate but this is the lowest it's been in my area for 10 years, usually 4.99%
We pay for greens bins separately, do you?

Taxidriverinfront · 28/03/2024 21:10

Ours is £357 a month for 10 months.

Thats more than our first mortgage 14 years ago!

EcoCustard · 28/03/2024 21:13

Ours has increased by 4.99% this year. We are now paying £189.50 over 10 months. We pay a hefty sum to the drainage board.

rockingbird · 28/03/2024 21:18

Mine has gone up to 4.7% £108.00 pcm biggest increases were for police and fire services, I'm perfectly Ok with that.

Beezknees · 28/03/2024 21:20

4.99% for me.

It's £107pm over 10 months. I am band A and get single person discount.

Charlie2121 · 28/03/2024 21:24

Ours went up by just under 5%. I paid it in full this morning. Unfortunately you don’t even get a small discount for doing that anymore but I’d still rather just get rid of the bill than have monthly payments all the time.

We pay extra for the garden bins. I can’t remember how much but it isn’t a lot. Maybe £30/£40.

vodkaredbullgirl · 28/03/2024 21:26

Town Council was our highest 172.9% 😡

stargirl1701 · 28/03/2024 21:26

Zero. It's a disgrace. More cuts to services. I would've far rather paid more.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 28/03/2024 21:27

Mine is now £113 a month over 10 months...Band A includes green and black bins.

UsernameShmoozername · 28/03/2024 21:31

I thought ours was high, but I’m really shocked that so many of you pay over £300 per month! Ours has gone up an extra £15 per month and we will now be paying roughly £185 for 10 months. We don’t have to pay extra for any bins.

MenopauseSucks · 28/03/2024 21:35

My council tax has gone up about 5% which is surprisingly low.
I'll be paying £260/month for 10 months of the year. That's with the single person discount.
The other 2 months Council Tax free, I save the cash & it pays for the house insurance!
Still paying £50 for the garden waste.

DiscoBeat · 28/03/2024 21:38

£3500 which is an increase but not sure how much.

HundredMilesAnHour · 28/03/2024 21:41

Mine has gone up by 6% but if you're unlucky enough to be in Band E, it's gone up by 47%!!! This is Tower Hamlets.

ARichtGoodDram · 28/03/2024 21:41

5% increase

They’re going to start charging for garden waste later from July onwards.

Oneblindmouse · 28/03/2024 21:44

Mine has gone up 5%. Was £91 per month x 12 months. Now £95 per month x 12 months. No extra payment for green waste.

Familiaritybreedscontemptso · 28/03/2024 21:52

4.8% which isn’t a disaster but given the council have been in a dispute with the refuse collectors since the New Year it does feel quite frustrating as bins aren’t being emptied for weeks and when they do come they won’t take any extra bagged waste. We pay for garden waste too.

FLOWER1983 · 28/03/2024 22:02

murasaki · 27/03/2024 23:54

5.2%, most of which is the London charge. But as it was 15% last year, I was relatively happy when I opened the envelope. £9 per month extra so doable.

Edited

Same as mine, but i am still not over the 15% increase from last year especially that everything got even worse

Shareaway11 · 28/03/2024 22:08

We are paying 272 pcm over 12 months, we couldn't afford to stick to the 10 months. £120 extra for the green bin which I find frustrating tbh

daffodilandtulip · 28/03/2024 22:13

4.9%, £50 for garden bin, charges to use the recycling centre.

Libraries and pools closing, pot holes shredding every tyre that passes, litter everywhere, drains blocked...

icebearforpresident · 28/03/2024 22:13

Also in Scotland so it hasn’t, and I’m not happy about it. Infact I don’t know a single person who wouldn’t rather pay a small increase now to protect the piss poor public services the council are still managing to provide and I live in a poor area. But the SNP have basically held councils hostage to not increasing.

The LA are introducing charges to remove garden waste but most people have said they will get rid of the garden waste bin they have and take garden waste to the tip/throw it in bags in the general rubbish. The projected quarter of a million it will bring in will be more like £250.

NC03 · 28/03/2024 22:15

4.5%

Beebumble2 · 28/03/2024 22:48

Thehooligans · 28/03/2024 19:02

£0 as in Scotland. I would rather an increase so they could provide better services with it.

They are financing by charging second homes with an extra 100% for not using the services.
So when the owners leave the new residents will go back to paying the same as everyone else and use the services.

Tbry24 · 28/03/2024 23:28

5.3% increase here overall, but I object to also having to pay a parish charge (they do nothing worthwhile and live in a town) which they raised by 12%. So £2300. The garden bin is a separate charge each year.

For the people paying over 12 months not 10 in lots of areas, such as mine, that’s not an option. Just depends on your town council as other areas of the same county that I’m in allow it.

BlueThursday · 29/03/2024 07:25

What is a parish charge please, I’ve never heard of that?

Octopussingthieves · 29/03/2024 07:29

Band B, gone up £60 a month..

Part of the council goes to the parish council. I think ours gets about £6k per year. This is used for grass cutting, cleaning of bus shelters etc in the parish.
