An antidote to The ‘Things that everyone raves about that are actually shite’ thread!

Just trying to redress the balance!
What are the things that everyone raves about that are actually amazing?
I need to unburden myself because on the thread I have referenced in the title, someone actually said David Bowie, Scotland and Tea…Three things I could not actually live without, that are actually superb and should have never been mentioned.
So tell me your wonderful things that are actually really wonderful and we can all feel better!

Great idea! I love air fryers, Netflix and wine. Cats bring me real joy.

bluechameleon · 21/03/2024 17:26

The Traitors. I don't watch any reality TV, had no intention of watching it, but when I slwas finally persuaded both DH and I LOVED it.

I totally agree with the Cats thing!

Agree with cats, any and all.

Caramel filled chocolate eggs (controversial I know)

My lovely new sofa from DFS. It's teal blue and big enough for all four of us to snuggle together.

Eastshade. A new game I'm playing where you are a wondering painter. It's just nice, no fighting, no real conflict just discovering beautiful scenery, making canvases, finding views to paint, crafting twine, helping the locals.

Namechange666 · 21/03/2024 17:45

Sims, coffee, reading and my partner buying a super king blanket for the king size bed and never fighting over the blankets. (I tuck myself in haha)

Oh and most definitely my cat.

Coffee, sunshine and Banff, Alberta

PuppyMonkey · 21/03/2024 18:02

I really loved the ABBA Voyage show that the OP in that thread slagged off so much. Grin

HappiestSleeping · 21/03/2024 18:03

Agree about Scotland @Trixiefirecracker

All the bad weather would be in England if we didn't have Scotland. Its bad enough at the moment anyway, but it would be way worse.

DahliaMacNamara · 21/03/2024 18:03

It's become quite the thing to hate it now, but I really like salted caramel. And coriander. Not necessarily together.
Oh, and Christmas lights. I bloody love Christmas lights.

hoarahloux · 21/03/2024 18:10

Matcha! I love it hot or cold. With the weather getting warmer I've been making iced matcha lattes, so good.

I bloody love Xmas! I know everyone hates it but I basically think if we didn’t have it I would struggle to get through winter. I don’t know why everyone hates salted caramel! Tastes divine.

Salted caramel.
scotland
cheese (who disses cheese, really?)

NotNowNorman · 21/03/2024 18:17

My Sage coffee machine - worth it
A good curly hair cut - has transformed my hair
Duhan van der Merwe in full flight (but not when he's called upon to tackle anyone)

Luckydog7 · 21/03/2024 18:18

Everyone in my family hates salted caramel but I LOVE it. More for me but I with they'd stop moaning and leave me to eat it.

MrsWidgerysLodger · 21/03/2024 18:19

Controversial but... Centre Parcs. On a recent holiday is and various extended family all booked lodges next to each other so the kids could run between the houses of family members at will. They could also cycle safely (and did for miles) and loved the swimming every day. We did pay for a couple of activities but not loads and had a marvellous time. I'd definitely do it again.

Uricon2 · 21/03/2024 18:20

Doulton Lambeth pots, c. 1870-1925
Hills and trees (they go together)
Gin.

There are more😁

ETA I have realised that the first is a bit niche, but I'm sure some people hate them

spiderlight · 21/03/2024 18:20

Cocker spaniels. Just pure joy.

Coriander!!!! Oh YES

the cinema
crisp edge of a new book
my north face slippers
first coffee of the day
Friday feelings

PaminaMozart · 21/03/2024 18:23

I did not see the other thread, but I imagine both skiing and opera may have featured?

Both of which I love 😎

LifeofBrienne · 21/03/2024 18:25

Spotify. Having all that music at my fingertips I’ve discovered so much that I never would have guessed I’d like. I have a playlist of songs specifically for when I’m walking (usually running late to pick DS up from school), playlists to work to, playlists to pretend it’s still the 90s…

Also, the month of May. Lush green everywhere, horse chestnut trees flowering, floaty cow parsley, and (usually) some nice warm weather.

Gardening. Yes, a lot of stuff dies or gets eaten but the plants that don’t, they make me so happy! Especially the ones that smell nice (hyacinths at the moment).

RedStripeypillow · 21/03/2024 18:26

Loved ABBA Voyage. It was amazing!

Trixiefirecracker · 21/03/2024 18:31

I think the coriander thing comes from the fact that some people think it tastes like soap but I bloody love it. Have never seen ABBA Voyage but know three people who absolutely loved it.
